Re: NES vs. Sega Master System vs. Atari 7800

I remember I was so proud of my Atari 7800 collection. So I invited a good friend of mine over and he owned NES. He was not impressed with the graphics in my collection and he kept bragging that I should buy a NES and I kept wondering what the fuck was that.

The following week a friend next to me bought a NES and he showed me Mario Bros.

I ended up selling all my 7800 collection without remorse. Fucking NES blew everything away.

Totally agree with this. I loved my 2600 with all my heart and bought the 7800 since it was backwards compatible. I tried to love it and bought a bunch of games. But my best friend had an NES and it just totally blew the 7800 away. It was not surprising to see Atari soon drop off the map.

Everyone I knew had the NES and not many had the Sega Master System so I didn't get to play the Sega much.

For my age group, everyone around me had an Atari 2600 in grammar school, a NES in high school and a Sega Genesis in college. Very few had an Intellivision, Sega Master System or a Super Nintendo. It was strange.

I love my little Sega Master System as well as the Power Base Converter. Phantasy Star was an AMAZING game for its time (it has not aged well though mostly due to the crappy 3d dungeons). But lets get real, come on...NES wins hands down. Yes SMS has a soft spot in my heart, but that's it.

It's amazing to me, as big as the Sega name got, they officially only had one big console in their time in that market.

Re: NES vs. Sega Master System vs. Atari 7800

I remember being so excited when I got that Genesis adapter to play Master System games (since I only had a NES)... and then really disappointed when I actually played the Master System games (except for the aforementioned Phantasy Star, which made me get out my graphing paper...)
