Splinter Cell: Blacklist Release Date Announced
You’ll have to wait until August to join Fourth Echelon.

Ubisoft has announced that Splinter Cell: Blacklist will hit stores on August 20, 2013. The news comes via a new trailer released today, which includes the date as well as the fact that Blacklist is now available for pre-order along with bonus content.

Blacklist was originally scheduled for Spring 2013, though a specific release date was never formally announced. The trailer confirms that Blacklist is headed to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC but offers no indication of the rumored Wii U version.

Update: Ubisoft has also provided new box art for Blacklist, different from the art previously revealed in July:

Flying R/C Plane Highlights Splinter Cell Blacklist Collector's Edition

Splinter Cell Blacklist publisher Ubisoft has revealed the Collector's Edition for the upcoming stealth game. The Paladin Multi-Mission Aircraft Edition for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 will be priced at $169.99 and be available on August 20 (in North America and Latin America only). The box will include a copy of the game, a copy of the 88-page Splinter Cell Echoes graphic novel, a poster, the "Billionaire's Yacht" co-op map, the Upper Echelon Pack containing the "Dead Coast" co-op map as well as the Gold Sonar Goggles and Upper Echelon Suit in-game items, and a radio-controlled version of the Paladin airplane that hero Sam Fisher and his Fourth Echelon team use as their aerial base of operations. The Paladin is, according to Ubisoft, a "custom three-channel, dual-motor plane modeled after the in-game mobile headquarters." Yes, it actually flies.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist Co-Op Mode Confirmed

Ubisoft has today announced that joining the comeback of Spies vs. Mercs, co-op is also set to return for Splinter Cell: Blacklist. Confirmation comes via the official Splinter Cell Twitter.

Like Splinter Cell: Conviction, co-op mode will consist of a separate co-operative campaign for two players online or locally via splitscreen.

There'll be 14 missions making up the co-op campaign, which sees two Echelon agents teaming up to tackle a series of objectives. Co-op was a laugh in Conviction, so hopefully we're in for a similar treat with co-op in Blacklist.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist will be bringing its single-player campaign, co-op campaign and Spies vs. Mercs to the table when it launches on August 20th in North America and August 23rd in Europe.

Comes out on Tuesday. Getting great reviews, including a 9.2 from IGN.

83 on Metacritic, which is outstanding.

The general consensus is that there is a good balance between stealth and action.

Metacritic Reviews

Can't wait to get my copy.

This review makes me wanna pick it up; though not until it's first price-drop, which should be within a month...

Yeah, I'll pick it up when it hits $20 - $30, which should be in a couple months. I wish it was coming to next gen consoles though.

Same here.

Wasn't a huge fan of the last one, but it's nice to hear this one is back to form.

Looks awesome but, after s many game, why do they insist on having so man flaring lights on Fisher's gear? That always took me out of the games and made me wonder how was he not a moving target a all times.

I am always amazed at how many people don't get this. Nightvision goggles don't actually glow. Fisher isn't emitting any light for enemies to see. The glow is simply there to let the player see him better when he is hidden in shadows.

I figured real NVG's don't glow but it looks ridiculous in-game regardless of the artistic intent. The same goes for the glowing square on his back (usually over the right shoulder blade) and he has what looks like a glowing wrist watch as well. The ridiculous amount of lens flare emanating from these items in the footage shown makes it look even more idiotic.

I said earlier when Ironside wasn't returning I'd pass, but it's looking mighty tempting.

I've always liked the series and really enjoyed Splinter Cell: Conviction so I'll probably get this one eventually. I know Ubisoft seems to have big price drops on their games shortly after releasing often times though so I'll wait it out for a while.

I can't believe no one from here picked this up this week. But of course, I haven't been keeping up with the reviews either.

Post some initial thoughts once you play? I've played all these but am waiting on this one.

I've been playing Spies vs Mercs more than the single player so far. I like it, but the multiplayer has some "call of duty" thing going (you get multiple hit markers on a spy and he still has time to run up and melee you)

Re: Splinter Cell: Blacklist

I really really liked the single player on this. I always do for this franchise.

My only issue with is was the ending. How... Unfulfilling.
