i doubt it. i'd be willing to bet they do the same thing HBO Go does. You have to verify your account with a content provider to prove you get ESPN via cable or sat.

I'm certain you'll need to have a cable-provider sign-in to get it... that's how it is on the Watch-ESPN ipad app.
