Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2

Details more than likely tomorrow, but a teaser site is up. This has been THE franchise for me, ever since I played the original when I was a kid. I've played pretty much every one, including the crap ones. I thought Lords of Shadow was a kickass reboot, so I'm hoping for more.

http://www.thedragonreturns.com/

While this isn't a confirmation of a sequel, the source code reveals, "Dare you face the evil darkness? It is written that the creatures behind that door will return very soon to claim the souls of your loved ones, and send you straight to hell! Be aware!"

There is a 3DS game called Mirror of Fate that's been confirmed as well.

Loved the first one (even though it was a little too long ). If confirmed this would be a day one purchase for me.

Really dug the first but man it was long in the tooth. The first 6 hours could have been shaved off and the game would have been twice as good.

I'm sure any excessive padding was thanks in no small part to the few contributions Hideo Kojima made to the production of the first game. Hopefully he stayed the fuck away from the sequel.

I loved the first game and would not have wanted to lose a minute of it. In fact, the two DLC chapters maybe should have been included as well since they actually completed the story.

There's some un-subtitled Spanish during portions of this video:

The DLC chapters are part of the UE on PC. And, yes, those chapters should have always been in the game proper.

I actually wish Mirror of Fate had been made in the same style as LOS (and had not been a DS exclusive) since it too continued the story.

Re: Castlevania: Lords of Shadows 2

I liked Mirror of Fate more than I thought I would. Seems to me it was designed to look like a throwback to the early scroll games. But as it's intended to bridge the stories between LoS 1 and 2, I wish it looked the same. The demo for LoS 2 was pretty fun, but that Titan part was a bit annoying with having to grab at those dots, which were actually kind of hard to see. I hope they fix that before the release.

I really hope Oscar Araujo does some big time Hollywood movie scores in the future. I'd love to hear so much more of what he can do.

Re: Castlevania: Lords of Shadows 2

I hope it's as good as the last one, only without the drawn out intro, like how the last one didn't get great until about a third of the way through.

It looks solid and I'm excited to play it. I really liked the first one albeit it being about 33% to long.

Re: Castlevania: Lords of Shadows 2

Although it could have been trimmed, I didn't mind the drawn out intro. I just started to get tired of the Patrick Stewart narrations
Spoiler:
how in the hell was Gabriel his "old friend" when they only just met during the adventure (the pre-adventure machinations notwithstanding)?
and felt that the final act was very rushed. That said, I thougt the post-credits scene that followed was a wonderful teaser for the sequel.

It's weird they keep advertizing the sequel for PC (and Dave Cox has gone on record that the PC version will be the definitive version) yet, outside of sites in the Netherlands, I can't find any preorders for the PC release.

Re: Castlevania: Lords of Shadows 2

I don't think Konami really knows how to launch a PC game. Even Metal Gear Rising didn't really show up until less than a month prior to release.

That said, all the developers there seem to be extraordinarily pro-PC right now. And I have a feeling the "Definitive Version will be on PC" (ie: designed for PC hardware) will become more common this gen since two of the three current-gen machines run PC hardware.

I ordered this. Hey, I never got into any other franchise, so I figured why the hell not.

My PC couldn't have picked worse time to die. At least it should be on sale by the time I finish building my new gaming rig.

There's a 20% off coupon code for Greenman Gaming so it's technically around $40. Just, you know, salt in wound.

Theme for the game. Like every other piece of music related to these games, I love it.
