Warhawk is amazing and people are still playing it, BUT the few people who are still playing it are fucking ninjas.

Warhawk has 4 player split screen for both online and offline. Your PS3 serves as a server, so you can set up a private map rotation for your 4 players, or you can all go online together.
While they might look identical, my experience was that Starhawk looked better but that Warhawk controlled better and was much better balanced.
