Xbox 360 questions....
My 12yr old son wants an xbox for xmas. The room we will put it in right now does not have internet connection. The router is in the next room which is only about 20 feet way. How well does the wifi connection work on the new xbox's? Also, Best Buy has the 4gb on sale for $199 and you get a $50 best buy gift card, and the 250gb on sale for $299 with a $75 gift card (you also get 2 games included with the 250gb...Halo:Reach & Fable 3). Basically all he wants to do play Call of Duty online with his friends. Is it worth paying the xtra $75 and getting the 250gb or will the 4gb be enough? I know he will probably want to download the map packs when they come out and i dont know if 4gb will be enough.

the wi-fi has a pretty good range, so i wouldn't worry about it. i'd also recommend the 250 GB one.

I can't help with the wifi question. But I can definitely tell you to get the 250GB model. 4GB is worthless. Last year's Call Of Duty maps packs were 700MB-1GB each. The recent Battlefield 3 update was over 2GB. That 4GB will get used up real fast. Bottom line, if you don't buy it now, you'll have to buy it later.
And the Halo:Reach game is a nice bonus. That was a pretty good game.

Another - go for the 250GB unit. I bought the same unit on BF to upgrade my 120GB older style unit.
You would spend ~$99-130 later to add a 250GB-320GB drive to the 4GB model, plus the holiday bundle your talking about comes with a headset ($20 value), and a 3 month LIVE subscription ($25 value). Then you still have the Fable III game, and Halo:Reach download voucher which you could always sell if your not interested in them. The wi-fi is fine mine is probably 30-40 ft. apart plus between floors (upstairs/basement).

Go for the 250GB unit. As others have mentioned, last year's DLC for CoD was anywhere from 700MB to 1GB per map pack. In that case, MW3 should see similar results once the DLC launches in 2012.
Another good example for why hard drive storage is important on the 360? Battlefield 3. The HD Texture Pack alone on disc two takes up over 1.5GB of free space. As another mentioned, the DLC pack that came out this week for BF3 is another 2GB.
The new consoles also have 2.4GHz a/b/g/n WiFi, so it should have no problem picking up the router that's 20 feet away.
$299 isn't bad when it gets you the 250GB console, the headset, the 3-month Live Gold subscription, Fable III ($29), Halo: Reach ($39) and a $75 gift card? Shit. I'd call that a Chmiel's Deal.

Re: Xbox 360 questions....
if your phone/computer can pick up the wifi from where the xbox is going to be...so can the xbox...check to make sure you are getting at least 70% or more in strength and you will be good to go...I would HIGHLY recommend doing this. I made the mistake of thinking 17 feet would be fine in another room for my xbox...and when I could not get a steady signal, I tested a computer and found that for some reason my room is a dead zone for wifi...I ultimately used a powerline for my connection...

Definitely go for the 250 gig. I am still using my 20 gb launch hard drive, and it isnt big enough. I am always deleting stuff to make more space.

Re: Xbox 360 questions....
Thanks for all the input. I went ahead and got the 250 gb. Not a bad deal...$299 with a 3 month xbox live gold pass, Halo: Reach & Fable 3, one controller, and headset. Also got a $75 best buy gift card with the purchase. I figure i can sell the games and get a little more $$$ back.

Fable 3 is good as well. It gets a lot of hate but i thought it was a pretty good action game with rpg elements. A huge step back from Fable 2 but still had a lot of fun with it.
