re: The Last of Us (PS3 and PS4)
Yeah the game was pretty much complete, just needs a lot of bug fixing but I was able to finish it with only 2-3 game breaking bugs that required reboots...not bad from how it looked earlier.

obviously you're a game tester, but have you revealed on this forum how you landed that gig?

Funny thing, Weekend Confirmed had an employee on from Naughty Dog this past podcast and he broke the news that Last of Us will indeed have multiplayer in it. At first I wasn't too excited by the idea because I'm not sure if that type of game really needs multiplayer (like Tomb Raider), but the thought of that environment with the scarcity of guns and ammo could actually be a really cool concept. Having gritty brawls while trying to run around find something to defend yourself with could work if pulled off right. I guess we'll find out next month.

Just got done playing through the demo and it was fantastic. Just long enough to make you wanting more right now. Can't wait to play the whole thing.

Wow.
The reviews just started hitting less than ten minutes ago...and they are almost all perfect scores.
Excitement level...rising!
Even IGN gave it a 10/10, calling it a masterpiece...

PlayStation 3 isn’t only well-known for its number of exclusive games, but for the sheer number of quality exclusives. That’s what makes The Last of Us even more impressive, because not only does it join the ranks of Uncharted, Killzone, God of War, Infamous and more, but it bests them all. In short, Naughty Dog has crafted a game that impresses in virtually every way. The Last of Us is a true feat.
Its unrivaled presentation in particular sets the bar even higher than the Uncharted trilogy already did, and its writing, voice acting and layered gameplay combine to create what is very easily the game to beat for Game of the Year 2013.

After reading those reviews I think I'll enjoy the game but can't shake the feeling that it'll play a little too much like Uncharted. Not a bad thing, but it doesn't sound like they've really refined it as much as they could. Uncharted 2 is one of my favorite games this gen, but even in that the gameplay was lacking: ridiculously linear (and I like linear), boring gunplay, and way too much emphasis on "clear the room" gameplay.
To note, all of those flaws were compensated for by the immersive world, excellent storytelling and characters.
So I'm assuming I'll enjoy Last of Us a great deal, but something tells me the 10s are overlooking some glaring flaws.

Damn, I was trying to hold off on this but I might get this right away now. Any decent pre-order deals still around for it?

For those who have played the demo, is this truly a game where you're constantly having to craft even while you're being attacked? Because that's what the gameplay videos make it look like.

Hmmm. Interesting reviews. I was considering this as a rental only, but maybe I buy it now.

I'm trying to decide if I should do that ($65 = Game (with tax) + bonus pack + $20 GC) or keep my New Egg pre-order ($45 for the game shipped). Think I'll be keeping the New Egg deal, but I do like dynamic themes...

No. I only crafted when sitting around or scavaging for supplies and was able to finish the game fairly easily. Maybe if you are dumb and don't keep a few items pre-made at all times, you would need to craft in battle. Also, there's VERY little fighting in the game anyways, so it's not really an issue.

Glad to see the game is currently rated higher than Bioshock with a 95 on metacritic after 49 reviews! Keeping my friends and I employed for at least another year

Amazing. I was a little concerned about your in-progress comments. Looks like they polished things up in time for (delayed) release. I don't really like gory games and pretty much loathe Zombie games, but this still looks amazing.
Is the lead Nolan North again? It sure sounds like him.
edit : Nope, checking IMDB it's Troy Baker, who seems to be getting all the plum jobs all of a sudden, having just voiced Booker DeWitt for Bioshock Infinite and will be voicing The Joker for the next Arkham game.
