Has anyone else played the demo for this game yet? What a weird unique game. I got through the first puzzle with little problem. The second took me quite a bit longer...long enough to start to turn me off of the game. However, just as I was about to give up on it, I wrapped my head around what I need to do and finished it.

I think I might really like this game and am thinking about picking it up.

I've been interested in this game for a while now, since I first saw it in a magazine. It was talking about all the weird Japanese games.

Anyway tried the demo Saturday night, died like 20 times in a row. Tried it yesterday morning and passed the first puzzle on my first try. I wanted to play it more but my nephew was watching along and I didn't want to continue in case any mature stuff came up. Will try it more, but yes I will end up getting it, this game has me very intrigued.

I ordered this one with a bunch of credit I had. I'm always in for something that defies categorization.

I tried it but kept dying, and this is the easy mode, will try one more time, if I can't get it will delete it.

I made it through the first puzzle only dying once. Died many, many times on the second puzzle. However, finally got passed it.

I read somewhere that the American version will ship with a "Very Easy" mode (which was patched into the Japanese version). Apparently, a lot of Japanese gamers were complaining that "Easy" was too difficult.

Finally got around to playing it. The box gameplay is terrible and way too hard, just not fun at all. The anime and other story stuff is fantastic, which makes me sad. If I get the game, I'll most likely never pass the box puzzles and never be able to finish the story :(

Just finished the demo. The gameplay is a dreadful bore. The storyline wasn't even slightly compelling (the horrid phoned-in voice acting only made it worse) enough to make it worthwhile. This was a very quick delete for me.

Picked up the game yesterday. The demo cut several of the cut scenes, and there were two additional puzzles in between the two puzzles in the demo. The second puzzle from the demo is much easier in the game than it was in the demo.

Really liking it so far.

I am also finding it quite enjoyable so far. It's almost like two separate games - part interactive fiction and part puzzle game.

The interactive fiction stuff looks like it'd be interesting but the puzzle stuff just looks like a complete bore. I'll try the demo...

FWIW, the demo only has the very basic elements of the puzzle gameplay. The full game does do a good job of introducing new concepts as you progress. Of course, if you don't like the basic gameplay in the demo, you probably won't like the full game either.

Haven't tried it yet, but read on another forum that you enter "Very Easy" mode by hitting select on the difficulty select screen.

Is anyone else playing this? I just finished the boss section of night 5 and I can't remember the last time I felt so accomplished in a game. The story is completely off the wall. I'm glad they didn't make it a long game, otherwise I probably wouldn't invest the time. Great game so far.

I played the demo last night, and although the Q*Bert part sucks, I'm intrigued enough for the rest.

I will wait until it hits $20 though.

I've reached the final push and I'm really annoyed with the layout they went with. I don't want to go into detail since it's somewhat of a spoiler but it's a bit like a slap in the face after all I've gone through to get to this point.

Either way, it's a great game for anyone who like puzzles or is a fan of the Persona series. My total play time will end up being right around 6 hours.

Catherine Sales Set Atlus Record
Puzzle title is the biggest launch game in the publisher's history.

A week after its release, Catherine has already become Atlus' biggest launch title ever. The game has shipped the most units at launch of any Atlus game in the company's history.

"Catherine has exceeded our highest expectations," said Tim Pivnicny, VP of Sales and Marketing at Atlus, in a statement given to IGN. "It released last week to tremendous critical acclaim and fan response, bolstered by the release of a demo a couple weeks prior, and continues to generate discussion among fans for its mature themes, engrossing subject matter, and frantic, challenging gameplay.

"It is fitting, then, that Catherine can boast the largest launch in the 20-year history of Atlus, and continues to see strong sales at retail."

Atlus could not provide exact sales numbers at this time. Catherine launched in North America on July 26 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Picked this game up used a couple weeks ago for $19 and have been playing it off and on since, I actually really like the puzzle play mechanics - a mix of twitch and thought is always fun. My only complaint is the over-emphasis on how difficult the game is, it warns you when you start a new game on Normal. I'm only on Stage 4 (Day 4?) but its been pretty much a breeze, but a lot of fun no less.

Not a huge fan of the interactive drama bits, but the story itself is entertaining. Love the puzzles.

I see it for $24.99 pre-owned. Was it a sale last week or are you one of those folks who don't count Rewards Zone certificates as actual costs?

Just $4.99 sticker price on the shelf. I thought it might have been a mistake or something. Also, Canada ;) but our pre-owned prices are usually higher up here. Pure luck, I guess. :)

This was in my top 10 of the generation. I would love to be able to play it again. Hopefully it does show up on Plus soon.

I picked it up from Newegg sometime last year for $10. Still need to crack it open. I do remember enjoying the demo though.

I just bought this. Catherine Full Body is on sale now for $24.99 at Best Buy. I'm excited to play it. I really enjoyed Persona 5.

I've been interested in this for years now, and keep putting off getting it. Are there any "twitch" gameplay sections? My old man reflexes can't do that anymore.

is like like anime Bayonetta? i have it for some reason, maybe free with GP or bought cheap based on reviews, but never played...

It's nothing like Bayonetta. It's a Puzzle game/platformer combined with weird Japanese dating sim type stuff.
