Good God. Its just like I told a friend of mine who is raving about Wii U...I just want to play Nintendo games with a normal controller.

You would think 5 years of the hardcore crowd shunning their last controller would have taught them something.

So with that set up, how would you be able to use that new controller and a Wiimote at the same time? Or is that not possible?

Can the controllers control the console independently of one another? Like, can dad be playing Murder Simulator 4 while mom turns on the other Wii U controller and fires up a game of Peggle?
This is the only thing that makes any sense to me. Otherwise I don't see how this competes with Microsoft, Sony, OR Apple.

Really nintendo? Instead of a controller we get a tablet? It's going to be fun getting extra controllers that with a screen that size will probably be what? 200 dollar each?

Exactly. I appreciate that they want to innovate, but really. Nintendo + HD + traditional ergonomic controller = Win. It's not that hard of a concept to grasp.

One nice thing about the size of that controller is that entering text will be easy -- just turn the touch screen into a keyboard.

casual gamers buy systems, but they don't continue to buy games. that's why you need to have a mix of casual/hardcore to be considerably successful.

I can get over the size, but the rectangular shape will get old fast unless there's something on the backside to make it easier to hold. Also, putting the right analog stick directly above the XYAB buttons is a horrible design choice. First of all, we're used to moving our thumb up to the buttons. Second, the buttons are directly fucking below the stick. Controllers typically offset them so that they fall along the same point of your thumb as you move it from one to the other. This thing looks like it'll be uncomfortable as hell to play for any extended period of time.

I saw a stylus, which means it's not capacitive (which is deeply hilarious in 2011, but let's leave that aside), which means it's not going to be THAT expensive. But certainly more expensive than your standard controller.
