Yeah, I'm fairly sure it will be just about exactly like 3DS transfers.
A whole back they sai it may not be ready on day 1 in the US but I think that has changed.

Never had a 3DS, so I don't know at all how that transfer works. I'm sure once the U comes out and people start buying it, the transfer stuff will figure itself out.

Thank fuck:

Don't forget to turn this feature off:
http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/11/...hutoff-feature
Co-founder of 5th Cell, Jeremiah Slaczka, the guys behind "Scribblenauts Unlimited" (slated for the Wii U on launch day) confirmed that it's up to the game developers to add in achievements. Nintendo isn't requiring developers to have achievements in their games, which is something Microsoft does.
"There are no Wii U accomplishments that are system wide. They are up to the developers to include or not include. Scribblenauts Unlimited loosely has them in the form of 'Global Starite Shards' which is like a giant checklist of global things to spawn and do in the game that aren't area specific," said Slaczka on NeoGAF.

Don't forget to turn this feature off:
Nintendo's new system features an 'automatic shutoff' feature, which turns off the system "if there has been no input for a set period of time," according to the system's manual. Here's the catch - a lack of input is still counted when a game is running and paused. We know - we had the system shut off on us when we left the system alone and came back after 90 minutes. System - off. Game progress - lost. By default, this option is activated, and appears to be set to activate after an hour, as we painfully learned.

Well, it sounds like the kind of "achievements" they have won't really be achievements as we know them, but more like the old games with checklists. What I like about real achievements is how they act as a journal of your game playing on the console. You can look through them and see what you've done in each game. If they're contained solely within each game and not visible on the Wii U outside of the game, they might as well not call them achievements (or whatever name they are using). Once again, they are just leaving another thing up to the developers, so we'll get spotty support.
I guess I would turn off the automatic shutoff, just in case, but I don't think I've left a game paused for an hour since the days of games without saves. I assume it wouldn't apply to video playback, would it?

I actually hate achievements so I would be fine with developrs not including any. I usually end up playing a game just to get all the achievements. I am also constantly wondering if I am skipping an achievement that will require me to start the game over.

Global achievements are the only way to go. Individual games having them is archaic. It's no different than beating the shit out of Goldeneye but it's all tied to the cartridge so once you sell the game, *poof* that's gone. Achievements are handy since they give you a road map of everything you've played. It's not just about meaningless points and epeen cred which everyone seems to make them out to be.
They also add plenty of replay value. Of course YMMV on fun factor chasing after an achievement, but it's an easy way to stay in a world you enjoy. My go to is always Tomb Raider/Uncharted. Those games are 6-8 hour games but add in collectibles, speed runs, etc. you can easily double your play time.
I think not having them is silly. People that don't want to chase after them can choose not to. At least they would be there for those that wanted to.

Yeah Achievements have always struck me as a bit silly, making them optional is cool though I can't imagine they're that hard to implement for developers.

I can't believe that after 7 years we're still debating the merits of achievements/trophies beyond a simple numbers game.

I'm not sure how I missed this, but Super Mario Bros. U will have DLC.
http://www.examiner.com/article/new-...to-receive-dlc
Although the Nintendo Wii U launch is still several days away, new details concerning Nintendo’s “New Super Mario Bros. U” surfaced on Wednesday evening that seemingly confirm that the title will receive downloadable content in the future.
Scheduled to launch alongside the Nintendo Wii U on November 18, “New Super Mario Bros. U” is one of the premiere launch titles for the new home console and it is looking like Nintendo has plans to support the game with new content post-launch.
According to the game case, “New Super Mario Bros. U” lists Nintendo Network capabilities and features, which details downloadable content as a feature. Rich of IGN shared this comment via Twitter:
Also worth noting that New Super Mario Bros. U explicitly lists Downloadable Content under its 'Nintendo Network' features.
“New Super Mario Bros. 2” for Nintendo 3DS has received a number of downloadable content level packs over the last month for its Coin Rush Mode.
With “New Super Mario Bros. U” having a Challenge Mode and Boost Rush Mode, it seems that Nintendo may be planning to release additional level packs for these game modes. No official details have been announced at this time, but it is something to look forward to.

What really differentiates this game from Dead Island (besides setting of course)? Does it really make use of the touch screen?
I am not bashing the game in anyway, I just don't see why alot of gamers are so enamored with it.

When you die in ZombiU, that's it. You lose everything that you have gathered up to that point and spawn as a new survivor.

so kind of...the Dark Souls of Zombie games?

it actually is more sucky if you lose all of your items. you only lose your souls in Dark Souls, but you can get them back.

So you hate them but you play just to get them? That seems counter-intuitive.

I just don't find the idea of starting all over because of one mistake fun. If I could spend 8 hours a day on the game and not worry about kids, work ect. I might actually enjoy this.
Demon/Dark souls did not really punish you for death....unless you got greedy...and I was on the edge of my seat while playing that game...more so than even hardcore on diablo 3.

I could have sworn the most recent preview I watched (from this thread, no less) said it wasn't a true starting over, but it was more of a selective inventory wipe. Ammo, med kits, etc would be lost but not progress. It is punishing because that stuff isn't plentiful, but it doesn't make you start over.

Yeah, this is the great part. Even if you die, you can just go to the area where you died and find your backpack.

I still wish that in ZombiU they had a create-a-survivor something along the lines of a basic thing like in the WWE games. It would mean that much more when your character died if you worked on creating it instead of just respawning. If not for every character, at least for the one you start out as or something. I dunno, I guess it's something to think about for the eventual sequel.
I have my Wii U and NSMBU preordered and fully paid for at Game Stop, and I have ZombiU on preorder at newegg for the $47.99 deal. I can't freakin' wait!
I am however having a problem. I'm thinking about canceling my ZombiU order from newegg, switching over my NSMBU preorder at GS to ZombiU, and then just digitally downloading NSMBU. I CAN'T DECIDE!
