I don't see why Nintendo would have to be involved to get those. Unless you're suggesting that Rare can't do them now because they don't fit MS's sensibilities. I suppose they're not kiddie/casual enough for the Kinect market, yet not "mature" enough for the FPS crowd.
What I'd love to see (and this would require Nintendo) is a new Donkey Kong platformer like DK 64.

Why? Even with the WiiU, Live trumps a non-existent online infrastructure and DLC opportunities. Hopefully they stay far away from Kinect and WiiMotion if they are outside MS's control.
I'd rather see a sequel to Blast Corps or Jet Force Gemini. While Banjo was fun, it was too much collecting vs. platforming.

I could have misinterpreted, but it sounds to me that he just thinks the franchise "belongs" on a Nintendo console and nothing else. I don't agree, but that's how some people feel about certain properties.

Honestly, I don't want any kind of multiplayer aspect involved with this. Make the solo game great and we're good to go. And anything worthwhile should appear on the disc.

Guess I was just thinking about the Banjo Tooie multiplayer mode that was created and left in the game, but not finished.

Just read that Darksiders II will be one of the games which is fully playable on the gamepad. That may bump it to a launch purchase for me. Have any other launch titles been confirmed to have that feature?

What does "playable on the gamepad" mean? Does that mean the WiiU system must be on and playing the game AND you can play it on the gamepad? Or does it mean that if you purchased a gamepad compatible game you can insert the media into the gamepad to play it on the go?

It plays through the console and you're able to switch between displaying on your TV and only the gamepad on the fly. Essentially making it a handheld system for games which have the feature. I read that the range is 20-30 feet from the console, depending on interference.

I don't think I could pay $60 for a Wii U version of Darksiders II. I would imagine the 360 / ps3 version will have dropped in price before the Wii U version is even out.

Possible but it is a launch title. Nov 18 isn't too far away. It's not my ideal launch buy either but I really want to try a game with that functionality. It's the main reason I'm picking one up.

Big Wii U games coming from Miyamoto and Retro Studios
"I could get myself fired by breaking all of the news here on your show, but rest assured, Mr. Miyamoto and the team at EAD are working on fantastic projects," Fils-Aime said during an appearance on GameTrailers TV. "Rest assured that Retro is working on a fantastic project. We've got big games in development that are coming that are going to continue to drive the install base of the system."
Fils-Aime pegged E3 2013 in June of next year as when we'll likely get to first see the new games from Miyamoto and Retro.
Miyamoto is said to be working on something new and original while Retro Studios has largely been quiet since Donkey Kong Country Returns was released in 2010. They've assisted with other Nintendo projects such as Mario Kart 7 but have been tied to new Legend of Zelda, Metroid and Wii U game engine projects through multiple rumors.

The WiiU version of Darksiders II includes a selection of Bonus Content not included on the disc for the other formats. This includes:
Argul’s Tomb – The game’s first downloadable content pack featuring a unique area, three new dungeons and new weapons and armor to collect.
Death Rides Pack – Three new side-quests for the Darksiders II campaign.
Angel of Death & Shadow of Death packs – New legendary armor and weapon choices for the player early in the game.
Deadly Despair Pack – Upgraded horse speed boost.
Additional unique legendary weapon and armor sets for the player to use from the start of the game.

How big of a red flag is it when we're two months from launch and Nintendo is already having to go into "games are coming (but we can't tell you what)" mode?

Eh, it could be last minute games that may or may not make the so called "launch window".
Who knows. It seems they made it easier to port games over this time.

I'm just pissed about Pikmin not being a launch title. That's the #1 reason I was on board. The game/franchise is never going to be an A list title that sells like a Mario or Donkey Kong. It's a core gamer's game. The same crowd that is eating up all the pre-orders. Seems silly to hold it back.

Re: Nintendo Console Announced at E3 2011 (Wii U)
Been a Nintendo fan since the NES days, but I'm taking a wait and see approach with the Wii U. Nothing coming out for it that I feel like I need right away anyway. And my Wii backlog is crazy...

It's now called the 'eShop'....but probably. I think they are allowing Wii owners to port over purchases from Day 1, so it makes sense. I have plenty of points left other I'd like to use.
