Re: Full House Poker (XBLA) - Thread of All-In Action Against Bots in an MMO Setting
Picked this up as well last night. I think I got to level 5th or 6. Send me an invite if you need another player.

Re: Full House Poker (XBLA) - Thread of All-In Action Against Bots in an MMO Setting
I'll be playing Heat later on this afternoon/tonight. If any of you aren't on my friends list feel free to add me. It would be nice to play with a bunch of people that know what they are doing. I'm kind of growing tired of the randoms I get stuck with that go all in every few hands with a pocket hand of 5 and 8. :)

 58o is actually my favorite starting hand. It does so much for me!
Least favorite: pocket 7s. In fact, here's my avatar from our group's forum after one fateful night in which I ruined a deck: http://img801.imageshack.us/img801/4223/79752603.gif |

Re: Full House Poker (XBLA) - Thread of All-In Action Against Bots in an MMO Setting
Texas heat is different because it's not about the chips as much as the XP. Sure "Smart Folds" are better than racing, but there's something to be said about taking a stab with any two cards when the pot equity (after blinds, antes, calls, etc) is so great already. And don't forget every single "Hot Pot" hand raises the blinds and antes, so it could only be 5 minutes into the session, but already the blinds have gone up 4 times.
Also, life preservers (on human players) take away a lot of the pressure of that all-in call, hoping to get lucky but not really risking anything other than your "extra life". Texas Heat != serious poker. Don't confuse the two. |

In for LADIES NIGHT!

Re: Full House Poker (XBLA) - Thread of All-In Action Against Bots in an MMO Setting
So, does this Heat thing go on all day at a specific time?

Re: Full House Poker (XBLA) - Thread of All-In Action Against Bots in an MMO Setting
The schedule is available from the menu, but it seems to be:
4-6pm, 8-10pm, 11-1am Eastern. There's a 2-hour and a 1-hour break in the action. It's meant for UK, East Coast, and West Coast players. |

I haven't played the All-Pro yet. Waiting to break 500,000 bankroll before I try. Since it's a 10-person tournament, I would imagine they pay out to at least 3rd.
100,000 buy-in x 10 players = 1,000,000 pool. I know first gives 500,000, so I'd guess 2nd is 300,000 and 3rd is 200,000. You could probably just sit back and let them devour each other while running out the blind timer ;) It is one of the qualities that makes me such a bad poker player. |

Just start it, go do something else why your avatar thinks. There's no time bank. Come back every 15 minutes and either play or fold. Blinds go up.

Re: Full House Poker (XBLA) - Thread of All-In Action Against Bots in an MMO Setting
Doing the Texas Heat right now and shocked to see no bots at my table and it looks like maybe only about 3 in my whole game.

Re: Full House Poker (XBLA) - Thread of All-In Action Against Bots in an MMO Setting
Playing at the DDD table with a full contigent of humans. It's definitely slower with them thinking, but a better experience. Can't tell what's going on at the lower tables if we have all 30 or not. Issues solved?
Edit: busted down to DD and I'm sitting here watching 9 bots do nothing. Judging by their chip stacks, it's been stuck the entire game on the first hand. Sigh. 5 more minutes. Edit2: game #2. Back at DDD after doing nothing for the last 8-9 minutes of that game. Defaulted to 9th place at DD even though I never sat down. Didn't get any decent XP chances. Anyway, back for game 2 with 10 humans here and at least a few visible at DD. It's certainly looking up. |

I'm in this round.

Re: Full House Poker (XBLA) - Thread of All-In Action Against Bots in an MMO Setting
OK, this is my second table and nothing is happening...
|
Re: Full House Poker (XBLA) - Thread of All-In Action Against Bots in an MMO Setting
Finally got going. Not the best, but moved up to DDD after not playing for the first 10 minutes.

Re: Full House Poker (XBLA) - Thread of All-In Action Against Bots in an MMO Setting
And Pinata is my friend again...just so he could show me his big stack.

Re: Full House Poker (XBLA) - Thread of All-In Action Against Bots in an MMO Setting
In that second game, at some point I got dropped to all bots
I steam-rolled them. Stuck with them on the 3rd game. Ended up with 20,000XP and ranked #716 out of ~13,000. At one point the game told me I was currently in 20th place. 5% of over 2M ending table chips (gold medal) pushed me over 500,000 bankroll - Achievement Unlocked. |
Re: Full House Poker (XBLA) - Thread of All-In Action Against Bots in an MMO Setting
Been trying to join for 5 minutes, keep getting kicked out of Texas Heat...

Sounds like they listened to my concern!

Re: Full House Poker (XBLA) - Thread of All-In Action Against Bots in an MMO Setting
orange crush and I are having no problems. Except for cards.
This is the best session I've played in, overall. |

Re: Full House Poker (XBLA) - Thread of All-In Action Against Bots in an MMO Setting
I'm glad others had a better time of it. Texas Heat was basically a bust for me. It's not that I really sucked or anything, the network kept booting me out of the 7pm (central) session and 7:30, well I got in once and then it flat out quit on me. Somehow in the 7pm, I still got $1,000 chips at the end even though I was in and out three times. That's beef #1.
So, afterwards I go to play a ranked multiplayer with others and everything works out okay until it got to about three people. Then it just took forever for me to win. The problem was that blinds went up every 15 minutes (and not by much either). That's way too long in my opinion. When it got to me and this other dude, it should have been a fairly decent match. However, it became a snooze fest. Finally, I started playing games with him and roughly 30-35 minutes later I won the thing when my pocket 6's beat his A/9. So, an hour of work for $420 chips. Blinds should be going up every 5 minutes (Full House should take a cue from Zynga on this one). Now, Texas Heat is a bit better about this but ranked multiplayer takes forever! Like the game a lot, but goodness gracious, things need to be fixed. |
