This is great news...but I wish it was now, not the fall...a lot of great games in the fall and we have a bit of a slow spell, esp for coop games right now..

It's cool that these are coming out, but I know I'll never have the time or patience to play them.

I don't see myself ever playing the "non-anamorphic" GameCube version of Resident Evil 4 again, so I'll definitely be picking this up. Looking forward to playing through it again...

Same thing applies to Beyond Good and Evil.

Still no official release date? That site gives a release date for Japan, Sept 8th. Hopefully the US release will not be far behind.

I think it'll come out in late September. Should be early October at the latest.

I'm just really hoping that the games will have Move support even though that's very unlikely. It would give me another game to use the Move with and it was actually pretty fun to use in RE 4 for the Wii. It would be even better with the Move.

Disappointment of the year. RE4 will be based on the PC/PS2 port, and no Move support has been announced.

Eh I don't care, that doesn't effect the game play. and I bet most people wouldn't play with Move or Kinect anyway.

Re: Resident Evils 4 and Code Veronica coming to Xbox, PS3 in HD, sources say

Eurogamer.net reviews RE 4 HD (out tomorrow)

"Resident Evil 4 HD doesn't look better than Resident Evil 4 SD. Who would have known, but scaling back clever fogging and lighting effects (as this has done in many places) and simply exposing old textures in 1080p doesn't look that good. It's a stark sight.

Resident Evil 4 is a brilliant game, but that's exactly why Resident Evil 4 HD is such a disappointment. This is no definitive version or director's cut (wouldn't that be something), but a criminally half-baked attempt to winkle a little extra cash from the still-beating heart of a classic. Resi 4 deserves better than this; Resi 4's legions of devoted fans deserve better than this; and Capcom should be much better than this.

7/10"

I didn't have a PS2 so I didn't play RE4 (except at a friend's on occasion) or Code Veronica. The graphical presentation doesn't concern me, I'm buying this for sure.

Yeah, the HD remaster is I believe based off the PS2 version which was a poor decision. Not many people know this, but the PS2 is quite a bit weaker in hardware power than the Gamecube. RE4 was originally designed for the Cube hardware, and when porting it to the PS2 they had to tone down a lot of the graphics.

I'm not sure what that reviewer was expecting though. It sounds like he was expecting a remake and not actually a remaster. He compared it to Ocarina of Time 3D in the full review, but that is not an accurate comparison because Ocarina was a full remake whereas RE4 is simply a remaster. That is a big difference. Remastering doesn't change the polygons or textures or whatever. Remastering simply raises the resolution, nothing else. A full remake is needed to change the graphics as much as he was wanting.

Fuck. I hated the way RE4 looked on the PS2 compared to the GC. *sigh*

I don't know 100% for sure if the remaster is based off the PS2 version, but that is what I have heard. I know the PC version was based off the PS2, so it wouldn't surprise me if Capcom is still porting the inferior version.

What bothers me even more than the massively toned down graphics of the PS2 version, is that they also changed the gameplay. The original Cube version threw tons and tons of ammo at you, so you were never in danger of running out. A lot of people complained about the more action game feel, so Capcom dramatically lowered the ammo stashes in the PS2 port. Now in the PS2, you have to actually conserve your ammo or you will run out easily. You have to use the knife a lot more.

I love the classic PS1 RE1-3 much more than RE4. I love the whole "survival horror" aspect that was sorely missing in RE4, but trying to change it back in the PS2 port was a huge mistake. RE4 is an action game pure and simple. Lowering the ammo to make it more "survival horror" did not work out like they intended. RE1-3 did not have huge hordes of enemies constantly rushing you like RE4 does. RE4 is just a different style game and trying to convert back to the old style failed.

Agree 100%

RE4 on Wii is the only RE game I ever finished and the only Wii game I LOVED. I sold my Wii and kept RE4. Anyway, it had everything to do with the Wii controls for this game. I mean I've loved the RE series since RE1, but I've NEVER EVER been good with the Tank Controls.

OXM gave RE4 a 9.0 and CV a 7.5.

Really cool Japanese Box Set.

I miss playing the RE games. I had 0, REmake, 3, 4 on Gamecube, but sold off my Wii last year since it rarely got played

I guess i wasn't paying attention to this thread. I didn't realize this was coming out so i was surprised when i saw it up on Live this morning. I still have it for Gamecube but i wouldn't mind it for my 360, now that i have all this extra HDD space with my new slim

Completely agree here. I never finished an RE game until RE4 on the Wii, and I actually owned it for the Gamecube as well. The Wii controller was perfect for this game. It's a shame they chose the inferior port, and they couldn't be bothered to add move controls, considering they already added motion controls for the Wii.

Re: Resident Evils 4 and Code Veronica coming to Xbox, PS3 in HD, sources say

I think i'm gonna regret buying this. I cant stand the controls. I know RE games always were a bit clunky but man its horrible with the 360 controller. I'm so used to moving with the left stick and panning the camera at the same time with the right but doing that in this game makes your guy frustratingly impossible to move. Maybe i shoulda just dug my Gamecube out of my closet instead
