You may want to go back to Best Buy. In this months Gamer magazine they have a $20 off coupon. I was going to pick it up today but my store only had the guitar bundle version on stock. Coupon is good until the 23rd on November.

I got the game & cable bundle with that Best Buy Gamer coupon, and I'm really enjoying it. Ironically, I'm using the RB3 Pro Guitar to play this. I dabbled in the RB3 Pro Mode, and it wasn't bad, but I never really learned much beyond some simple chords. Rocksmith is definitely more of a teaching tool than a game, and it has worked well for me so far. After a couple of hours, I can play the main riff from Nirvana's "In Bloom", which is pretty sweet. I like how it starts you off with single strings and then ramps up to chords if you can play the single notes well enough. The structure of it makes it easy to learn recognizable parts of songs, which gives you the motivation to stick with it. I'm very impressed with it.

Loving this game so far. I did need to get an extension cable to be able to play from my couch. I couldn't get a quarter inch ext jack cable to work. I had to use a USB extension cable. Seems to work ok so far.

For those that didn't already know, DLC has been announced to be biweekly. We got Freebird, Bodysnatchers, and Tighten Up. On the 15th we get Smoke on the Water, More Than a Feeling, and Jessica. Pretty nice starts, especially Jessica! The only downside is they are 240 points each :/.

I retired from plastic guitars after 5 years, but think I may jump on this and try and learn something. More than a Feeling is a huge motivator for me.

I like their choices of songs but really do not like the price. I would be willing to pick up some songs at 1.99 but I do believe they go for 2.99 each on the PSN. That is way too much in my opinion. I have also learned from playing this game that I will never be a good guitarist.

I'm already getting better. On my first attempt at the Ducks mini-game I only got like 10,000. Subsequent attempts have gotten much better and my last one I got 950,000. The zombie chord game will be great for me because I really suck at switching fast between chords. I didn't care for the Tetris style slide game.

I'll probably end up picking this up, I bought a guitar at the end of last year and lets just say I havent done a good job keeping up with the learning... this seems like the perfect thing for me.

This game does have the option to change the difficulty but its only easy or hard. I like the progressive difficulty system though. It helps push you forward without any negatives for missing parts if its to difficult. I'm hoping the DLC songs continue at a steady rate. At $2.99 a song I will have to really love it.

You and me both. I suck at chord switching, but this has made me much faster and actually taught me a few chords. Taking it to my guitar teachers place on friday so he can check it out. That will be the real test, what a real guitarist who has played for many years thinks of it.

JESSICA! I'll pay the awful price for that. That is some quality DLC, even though I'll be remarkably picky.

This game is fantastically entertaining, I haven't had this much fun with a music game since struggling through Guitar Hero on the PSX. The experience of learning the instrument (in that case a plastic one) was always the most fun part. I'm really digging it.

Bought the Best Buy edition w/ the $20 off + some GCs, best purchase I've made in a while.

I am going to get this right before all the coupons expire.

Still debating on the guitar in the bundle or a Dean Vendetta XM $100 one that is getting good reviews. Yes, I am a real guitar noob.

Honestly, if you want a decent guitar do NOT get the bundle. You can get a better guitar for the 120 it's costing you for the guitar.

This is what I have

http://www.ebay.com/itm/epiphone-bla...item4cfb562e2b

120 with shipping.

It is still cheaper but I'm going to just assume that it's still better than the one that comes packed in with the game. Those are usually cheap so they can be cost prohibitive.

They're the same guitar with the only difference being the Special has two pickups.
The Junior sells for $130 the Special for $170. So your actually getting the Junior $10 cheaper in the bundle than if you bought it separately.

Am I able to get the Best Buy Gamer coupon just in store somewhere? I remember getting one issue of that in the mail, but I that's all I know about the magazine.

Holy crap, just found this guys

http://bestbuy.shoplocal.com/bestbuy...ailerid=-99824

Get a 50 dollar gift card with the purchase of the guitar/game bundle

now that is a decent deal, effectively makes the guitar 70 bucks, not too bad

As for the coupon, they should have issues in store for 5 bucks, you'll still save 15

Edit, apparently this is not the official bundle, it is the same guitar but with a cherry sunburst finish which IMO looks better. Still a good deal.

So has anyone learned a song yet or parts of songs that someone can make out when played?

re: Rocksmith: The way-official news and discussion thread

I have!

I can mostly play everything that kicks off In Bloom up (until the guitar drops out and it's just bass and drums), and I can play recognizable bits from Satisfaction, Boys Don't Cry, Rebel Rebel, and Where Is My Mind? (With those last four, I'm just playing notes, though...not chords -- or, well, power chords -- like I am on In Bloom.) I can rock that E that opens Where Is My Mind? though. :)

I'll get it but HOLY SHIT at 6:30.... It's going to be a LOOOOONG time before I can play that, even on easy

took me half the video to even understand how the game works.
so the right and left is what fret and the color is what string?

Basically yes, it's like Guitar Hero where left and right are the strings you hold down, though this time up and down are the strings you hit, instead of just a single "string" to strum.

So yeah -- it's hold string 3 down in fret 14, strum string 3 (single note).... hold string 3 down in fret 7, hold string 2 down in fret 7, hold string 1 down in fret 5, strum all 3 (chords, which is what occupies the first half of the video -- chords take a while to come into play in the actual game) ... etc;

Less complicated video to look at (single note - high difficulty)

It's more straightforward when you play. The game gradually eases you into it, and it quickly becomes second-nature.
