I'm playing on medium and I seem to be getting a lot of those fast fuckers. Whenever I get 2 running at me the shred me before I can even swing my cleaver or machete once. The Thugs fuck me up too, no so much them as I can run in hit once, back up, then wait for them to growl getting a few more hits in, but when other zombies show up it makes it hard.

Is it just me or do the walkers not walk a whole lot? They run up and say hello while bashing my face in.

The fast guys are easy if you just kick them before they get to you.

I guess that makes sense. I've rarely used kick since I always forget it's L1. Whoever said the controls are kind of hard to pick up was right. I constantly forget what button does what, not sure why it's just this game though, every other game I can remember them fine.

I usually end up trying to swing early and I fail most of the time, so I will start kicking, will probably make it easier lol.

Also, the spitters, while they go down easy with a bladed weapon, is it just me or does it take half to a full weapon bar to kill one. The blades really break fast on their...... enormous girth.

Just got back from the ONLY store in northern MA and southern NH that had this game.

If anyone wants to play on 360, look me up! Paradoxx21

Yeah, I've founded that a good "BJ" can help get me through anything.

You'll find "Kick" is one of your best friends. Do not underestimate it.

Yeah, the quest tracker is either severely broken or I'm simply too dumb to use it. For main quests, it pops up my objective on the map. For side quests it seems to function intermittently. It's hindering my enjoyment of the game.

So something really pissed me off earlier. I accidentally threw a deo-bomb at the wrong time so when I reloaded the last checkpoint it was still gone from my inventory. WTF?!

Re: Dead Island

I did the quest where you
Spoiler:
meet the Russian from the crashed chopper.
Then I quit the game and when I loaded my game later that night, I was in a completely different area. In fact, the area is so big and confusing, I felt like I was walking in circles.

Oh and as you move farther in the game and level up (I am 18 now), it seems it becomes alot easier to die, even to Walkers. They gang up on you.

Yeah, I'm like 25 now and they will seemingly come out of nowhere behind you while you are dispatching the other 5 that are running at you.

I also put my weapon in storage because I was going to sell the gun since it is worth over 1k. I took it out of storage and it never went in my inventory, nor is it still in storage. Also have died by mobs that were hitting me on the other side of a wall

I have a quest that says "Kill all the zombies in the front of the warehouse"

There are like 30 warehouses in this huge level and I don't remember where I got the quest, no top of that when I track it, it won't tell me where to go

I haven't had any trouble with the quest tracker.

Yeah, I use kick all the time, especially on Walkers and Infected.

I love when kick crits for like 380. That was one HELL of a kick.

I cannot stand infected. They hit me every damn time. I'm also not a fan of the zombies leveling up with you. It's nice to have scaling difficulty, but what's the point of powering up and getting better weapons if you can get clobbered in a few hits?

On the plus side I managed to buy a super strong rare mace from one of the shop guys. That thing takes down walkers and infected with one hit. Takes about 8 hits for thugs.

As a genre fan, that is one thing that bugs me about zombie games. Zombies are easy to kill and avoid, it is when they are in large numbers that they become real dangerous.

But nothing beats the satisfaction of beheading them just before they reach you.

I just got the sledgehammer and man, what a weapon! I made it up to 11/15 for the "Can't touch this achievement" before I got spit on, and my sledge was still at 60%!

foxdvd 09-11-11 06:32 PM

Re: Dead Island

the sledgehammer seems to be the best weapon in the game for me..not sure how the stats work, but I have a sledge that has less dmg than many weapons...and I don't have any boost on two handed weapons...but when I fight big guys...it will break their arms 9 times out of 10...every time...with its long reach...I just swing...break arm...swing at other arm...break..then laugh as they follow me around trying to hit me with their head....

I hate that, too. I am getting knocked down Thug style by punches from Infected now

Couple questions:

Are there 3 acts (or more)?
What level were you when you finished?
How many achievement points did you end up with?

I have not finished it yet but

I hear there are 4 acts
I hear the average is level 38 when people finish
I am only on act 2 and I have 490 achv so far without even trying....my best guess is I will be about 600-700 with no effort at all....
