I froze night before last once. Only had a brief period of time where I could play last night and was booted from my last map, which was the first hardcore match I managed to successfully join.

There was an interview with one of the designers where he mentioned all the things that they were working on for the game, including the new engine, blah blah, where they made the decision that they didn't want to add one more area to try to focus on, leaving split-screen on the cutting room floor.

I don't want to sound like a COD fanboy. But I really wish their MP lobby ran more like COD. Having to wait for the next game to start is stupid. At the very least, they should allow you to quit between matches.

So I take it there's a trick to knifing people? One guy I hit probably 5 times and nothing happened, yet guys will come up behind me and instantly kill me.

I almost bought this yesterday but with all the little issues I just couldn't bring myself to get it. I'll rent it and COD later in and let the better game win me over. I didn't care for the Beta but I'm hoping it grows on me a bit. If not I'll go another year without a standout shooter to enjoy. ( I traded in Black Ops very quickly last year. Hated the MP. )

Finally got a chance to play this online for a few hours last night and there's not really anything good I could say about it :(

-Servers suck, but everyone knows that
-Could never get all 4 of us in a squad or even on the same team
-Having to unlock everything twice (RU-US) is one of the worst decisions I have ever seen
-So much lens flares and overblown lighting makes seeing enemies next to impossible
-Can't have my M249 and be a Medic like in BFBC2
-A few of the maps were terribly designed so that whoever go to "B" first could overrun the other team and insta-win
-When scrolling through weapons in "My Soldier" is it necessary to have the screen go all static every two seconds
-Having to wait forever between matches
-Getting stuck in the environment when trying to climb/jump over small obstacles
-Really, the knife STILL doesn't work? Take it out of the dame then!
-Flashlight on the end of peoples guns...because there's not enough distracting light in the game!

I could probably go on and on, but so far Bad Company 2 online = 10/10, Battlefield 3 = 5/10. I'll give it another week or so.

Still haven't opened my copy from Amazon. Can still return it at their expense since it missed release date shipping. Seriously considering doing it....

If you're on the same server, getting in the same squad is incredibly easy. Just go the manage squads screen before you spawn and pick the one you want to be in. You can switch squads and teams (as the server allows) mid-round.

Also, you don't unlock things for US-RU, you unlock things per weapon. You mentioned the M249. Once you unlock it in the Support kit, the more kills you get with it, the more gadgets unlock for it (scope, flashlight, flash suppressor, etc.). Doesn't matter if you're US or RU, as long as you're using that the M249 in Support, all the unlocks will be there. It's confusing at first because I think some of the initial weapons are different per team. If the weapons the same, any unlocked gadgets will be there.

I think the flashlights just add another dimension of realism. Yeah it's hard as hell to see the person, but that's the point, it's a tactical light.

Personally I'm getting my ass handed to me, but I think BF3 is fantastic. I'm glad other people are having a hard time spotting enemies. I thought I was just getting old or something. :lol:

I'm having so much fun with the multiplayer. The game has a lot of minor annoyances and poorly designed UI, but when you're actually playing with a few friends in a squad, there's nothing like it.

The UI is terrible... nothing like making energy bars and status bars razor thin circles. Fixing a tank... half the time the tank's energy circle is int he corner of my screen behind another status display. I'm shocked how anyone with a screen smaller than 56 in can see those tiny bars.

The online is definitely glitchy but I am really enjoying the multiplayer.

I just wish I could fly a jet and actually kill things.

I play every night for a bit and realized I will never like this game. My biggest complaint (compared to CoD) is...I want to 'feel' when I hit someone. All the lights, smoke, and shit flying around everywhere you can't tell if you're actually hitting someone or not. I love how the controller 'kicks' in CoD when you hit someone.

Question about multiplayer. I played for a few hours yesterday, and saw my level going up, but it didn't save it! What did I do wrong to cause that?

Also, after a match, it just kept me playing the same thing over and over and over and over. No exit or back button, I had to quit out of multiplayer entirely to get in a different group. Is that how it's supposed to be?

I often wish that too, but knowing how BF is balanced, I really don't think you want the choppers or jets to be too easy to fly. The choppers were slightly overpowered in BFBC2, but it's offset by the time it takes to develop some expertise in them. You rarely run across a really good pilot, and that's a good thing.

I do wish there was a practice mode though...just to fly around and get a feel for it.

The SAW was my go-to gun in BFBC2...love it.

I'm really going to be torn between playing the support class with the guns I love and the assault class, which is sort of the new medic.

I played medic 100% of the time in BF2. I keep meaning to try the assault class, but I just keep spawning support instead. lol

I gotta admit the assault class is the way to go - the guns are nicely balanced and sqad heals rack up the points. I hated the medic in BFBC2 - shit guns that didn't really match his role in the squad. But the assault class know feels better - I really think DICE has made big improvements in the gunplay I don't hate the heavy weapons anymore.

Yeah...kind of figured I'd adapt to the new guns.

For some reason, if you put a red dot on the medic LMGs they seemed to stabilize quite a bit. I could practically snipe motherfuckers with the M249 or M60 and red dot...and the MG3 was fun on smaller maps...pray and spray!
