Also, I posted this in the E3 thread, but they stated that the 3G was only for social media additions to games (look who's playing this game!) and most multiplayer (the guy said for "hardcore games) would be for wifi only. Tack on a monthly fee, and who's spending the extra $50 for the 3G model?

Okay, I didn't know the 3DS was region locked. I haven't been paying attention to that system.
Hey BTW, does anyone know where the power button/switch is on the PSV? I really hope they didn't put it on the side again, because due to how I hold the PSP, sometimes I end up switching off the power during gameplay. If I'm lucky, I just slide it enough to put it into sleep mode instead of shutting it off completely. I hope they've moved it to the top of the unit this time so it will be out of the way.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Jan delivery date. I was hoping it'd come in during Nov.

re: Official PS Vita / PlayStation TV Thread
I jumped on the PSP at launch and probably only played a handful of games on the thing, actually finishing maybe two or three. So as much as I really want the Vita now, I'm not going to preorder or try and get it at launch. I'll wait until I see what actually launches with the system and what kind of reviews are coming out before buying.
However, I do a lot of traveling for work and it'd be nice to have something new to do to pass the time in the afternoons/evenings.

I wonder if games like Katamari will be re-mapped too?

I got a estimated arrival date of January 4 from Amazon, presumably automatically derived from their "release date" of 12/31.

Yup, it looks like 12/31 is the release date. I'm hoping they're doing everything they can to have them out before the holidays.

I don't know. They had it listed with no date for a while then just changed it the other day and sent updates to people who preordered. Why even put a date if it's not correct rather than leaving it as TBD? That being said, I hope you're right.

12/31/2011 is their "We don't fucking know" date.

Cool. I don't pre-order stuff often so I wasn't sure. Makes more sense to me to just leave it as TBD.

I think it's built into their system that way - "This item has yet to be released." is their TBD message and allows you to sign up for e-mail notification when it is available. The pre-order date allows their system to actually take pre-orders (start a queue).
It's understandable, but yeah you'd figure somebody as big as Amazon would make that modification to their CMS. Though when you're as big as Amazon you have a lot of hoops to jump through for even the smallest modification to the system.

Saw this on my Amazon page. I call "Bullshit"
Really? People often buy two different PS Vita models at the same time? I kinda doubt that.

I preordered both the Wifi and 3G version when it first went up (on separate orders, though) until they fleshed out what the 3G was going to be used for. I was never going to get 2, just holding my space in line with the option of backing out on either one (or both) before release. So maybe not so crazy.

I mean, it's not like Sonic where you're skeptical of how good it's going to turn out.

Alright. I guess they were frequently bought together. I stand corrected. And no longer feel like I'm a hopeless over-spender.

PlayStation Vita coming to US, Europe in early 2012
Sony is adjusting its PlayStation Vita launch plans and rolling back to an earlier claim: that the new portable system would be out in "at least one territory" by the end of 2011. According to an AP report, Japan has been selected as 2011's sole recipient of the Vita.
Speaking to the press in Tokyo, SCEI Chairman Kaz Hirai clarified that the PlayStation Vita would miss the holidays in America and Europe, instead rolling out in those regions during early 2012. [Update: Previously, Sony said it would be available in the global market "starting" at the end of 2011.]
Hirai insisted that the launch would not be accompanied by a lowered price, despite Nintendo's hasty and reactionary price drop on the Nintendo 3DS.
"We packed so much into the device and made it very affordable," Hirai said. "There is no need to lower the price just because somebody else that happens to be in the video game business decided that they were going to lower their price."
The PlayStation Vita will start at $249, alongside a 3G-enabled version for $299.

Kind of a bummer, but it's already looking to be an expensive holiday season so a few more months to save up and wait for some must-have software is fine with me.
