Sounds good. Thanks for the mini review, fumanstan.

Yeah i have a 550 TI and while the graphics looked nice on Ultimite The framerate was so slow i had to bring it down to high. Now i'm getting around 30 fps.

Played for about an hour, some great looking scenery although not a whole lot going on in the game yet except from going from point A to B. Some of the quick time events early on feel pretty predictable.

EDIT: And a little further along, so far less action then Uncharted and it feels like more exploration around the locations, since you're looking around to salvage parts or kill animals for XP and material to upgrade your gear. I like that aspect of it so far.
So it's more like the original Tomb Raiders where getting around was the main challenge, not killing things? I'm okay with that... I actually found the action in Uncharted to be the worst part, especially near the end of each game.

Re: Tomb Raider (a.k.a. Tomb Raider 9)

Yeah, the pacing of the shooting in the Uncharted games was my least favorite aspect of the game. So far there's just been a couple moments where I was attacked by wolves, and a few where I had to quietly (or not so quietly) take out a few bad guys. There isn't really a cover mechanic that the game relies on, you just kind of walk behind objects to hide or stay out of sight, but so far its less repetitive then the cover, shoot, cover, shoot, that felt repetitive in Uncharted. I like the small amount of weapon use i've had to use so far.

That said, I hope the story picks up. There definitely isn't the grand scale or feel like i'm the big epic treasure hunt that the Uncharted games had. I'm 11% in, from my saved game info.

If you are planning on getting the Target Steelbook version, you might want to go early. The first one I went to was sold out already and the second one only had two left when I got there. According to the employees they only received 5 copies per system.

Good advice. I looked on CAG and some people are buying multiple copes, too.

Guess I preordered this on Newegg last year, just got a bunch of emails from them. Huh.

Re: Tomb Raider (a.k.a. Tomb Raider 9)

I picked up a copy from Target because I had a GC. They had about 10 copies for the 360 and 10 for the PS3 in tins. (I purposefully went to the one in a residential area instead of a business area).

Comes w/ the Shanty Town multiplayer map and that's it. Nice case.

Re: Tomb Raider (a.k.a. Tomb Raider 9)

I checked one of my local Targets about ten minutes ago (35 mins after opening) and no 360 copies available. Gonna check two more before I break down and just buy the regular version

Re: Tomb Raider (a.k.a. Tomb Raider 9)

I stopped by Target to check and they had probably ~8-10 of each.

I ended up grabbing it at Best Buy for the reward zone $20 credit, comic book, and outfit dlc.

My friend picked her CE up and posted this.

I hope that's a typo, but I laughed anyway.

UPS just dropped off my CE, looks like I get to play it today after all!
My DLC card says the same thing.

YMMV; at around noon, my Target still had about 10 of each.

I'd imagine this was in production before any of them saw Jennifer Lawrence in that movie though.

Re: Tomb Raider (a.k.a. Tomb Raider 9)

The Hitman Absolution DLC is also listed in the in-game menu, so I'm guessing it's weapons based on the ones from that game. Cross-promotion!

Re: Tomb Raider (a.k.a. Tomb Raider 9)

While I'm still a bit iffy on the reliance of QTE, I have to say the beginning of this game is cool, it's like a ridiculously dark, violent version of Lost

And I felt bad killing a videogame deer, wtf is that all about

Re: Tomb Raider (a.k.a. Tomb Raider 9)

There's fewer QTE events further into the game, it seemed like there was a lot at the beginning but I haven't encountered a lot later on other them some close fight sequences.

Re: Tomb Raider (a.k.a. Tomb Raider 9)

The game does remind me a lot of LOST. Loving it so far.
