Re: MLB 11: The Show

I might be in for the league again this year (if the lag isn't an issue still). Although because of my work schedule, Im probably only gonna be able to play games on the weekend.

Are there any stores doing exclusives this year? I know last year there was free DLC for the old stadiums. Is there anything besides the Kmart points?

Actually, we shoot for a 364 game season but we limit it to a maximum of 3 games a night. Let me know if you're interested.

Re: MLB 11: The Show

I'm hoping they improve the AI in RTTS. I loved the idea of that kind of gameplay, and it was terribly addicting. But so many stupid interactions with your manager and dumb team general managing made it frustrating. The problems were so blatant, it was hard to believe that no one bothered to fix them (especially after I know many gamers complained about it). The one I hated the most was when my slow-ass runner got the steal sign at 1st base. I inevitably make an out, and get benched for 2 weeks

The hitting was tough until I swallowed my pride and lowered the pitch speed to something I could handle. There's a fine line between being able to hit like a guy's stats suggest, and not being able to hit at all.

It's $44 at Amazon if that helps any.

Okay, maybe I was wrong there. I saw a picture of the retail box at Target. They have a $10 off $10 MLB store coupon exclusively there. I think you're right about needing a pre-order for mlb.tv.

I think you can, but only if you also spring for the $15 MLB At-Bat app. It will stream to your PS3 though. It's a pretty nice service and sometimes looks great (while at other times, looks like ass). The problem with mlb.tv, as I mentioned last year, is the blackouts. Here in Vegas we're blacked out for six teams (I think) that all claim Vegas as their local market, including the Giants and the A's, both of which are like 400 miles away. They black out every home AND away game for the Dodgers, Angels, Padres, Diamondbacks, Giants and A's. That can be up to 12 separate games that are blacked out in a single day. I would NEVER pay for that service. Most locations have a much better blackout policy than Vegas, though.

That is total crap!

Has anyone seen any reviews for 2K11 this year?

Re: MLB 11: The Show

Have to say, I am not a fan of the analog stick for fielding. Falling back on how I would do things for 2K and then doing it this way was infuriating.

Have to agree here. I played a pitcher, and the worst thing that happened to me was getting traded to the NL. Got wrecked batting + Stealing.

Re: MLB 11: The Show

So, am I to guess that Amazon is the best way to go to get this game? $58, no tax and free shipping? BB has no deals/exclusives and although I live close to a KMart, I rarely shop there.

Re: MLB 11: The Show

I just pre-ordered this from Amazon for $58 and Amazon tells me it'll be here Thursday.

I'm in for a league. Unlike last year, I have my own HDTV and I don't have my brother around to fight him for PS3/TV time.

What's everyone's opinion on the demo? The analog pitching and fielding was easy to pick up, but batting was much tougher to figure out. Once I did, it became much easier to swing. Of course, my first hit was made by Tim Lincecum.

Since I get charged tax for Amazon, I'm gonna go with Kmart. I have about $40 in SYWR points to spend from purchases last month.

Best Buy has a deal that is almost as good as the Kmart deal this week: buy a 160GB PS3 ($299) and you get a $50 Gift Card.

Yea, but I'd pay about $30 in sales tax, making it about a $20 giftcard

Re: MLB 11: The Show

hm...$299 plus tax, should be about $330 at Best Buy...Then the game I'm sure is $59.99, so about $65 after taxes...subtract the $50 gift card and it's $12 dollars cheaper than it would be if I ordered both items off Amazon.

Go for broke: See if Best Buy will price match Kmart giving you the game for free plus the $50 gift card. Odds can't be in your favor, but it would be nice.

Or Kmart ad says free MLB 11 with ANY PS3 system. Couldn't you get the Kill Zone 3 bundle and get the free MLB 11? Plus you get $15 in SYWR for the Show 11........ so for $300 plus tax you could walk away with Kill Zone 3, MLB 11, and $15 in SYWR. Not bad.

Anyone remember from last year how soon MLB 10 The Show went on sale? Isn't this game as big as Madden? Madden's are always on sale week 1.

If Best Buy were to allow you to match the deal they would match the deal and not allow a hybrid of two different offers.

Re: MLB 11: The Show

Is it common to not have a review from IGN (or anyone else for that matter) just 1 day before it hits shelves? It'd be awesome to know if some of the past year bugs have been fixed.

Gamepro review up. I consider it's 5/5 irrelevant. I'll refuse to acknowledge a review unless it cites the bugs in MLB 10.

Yeah, there was a ton of bugs in last years game.

On the other hand, I tried 2k10 last year and I found it rather enjoyable.

Re: MLB 11: The Show

Game Informer came in the mail today: 9.25. No mention of last year's (a.k.a. the year before's) bugs, but they do say 2011 is not just another iteration of a previous year's sports game and that most of the changes are "for the better".

I'll probably pick it up when it drops in price a bit. I like baseball games and haven't bought one since The Bigs 2. The Show is my series of choice for simulation, but the last one I bought was '08.

Go Jays!

This is the one game that never really "drops" in price, at least not during the season. Getting the $15 in SYWR credits from Kmart is as good as we're likely to see for a while.

I wanted to try the demo but didn't get it downloaded in time to play yesterday. It's like 3.5 GB -- the biggest demo I've ever seen.

For those who got a pre-order : Don't redeem your month of MLB right away. Although MLB.tv is broadcasting every preseson game without Blackouts, for some reason the PS3 is exempt. The service won't start on the PS3 until the regular season begins in April.

I think I'm going to pre-order it tonight to get the code for mlb.tv. I like the KMART deal better, but I have a $50 gc for Bestbuy I'd rather. I wanted to preorder it for instore pickup but you can't. When I was in bestbuy the guy said I can't preorder because it comes out tomorrow, but you still can online.

I was worried about a sale price, but if its not going to drop, I'm not as concerned. Plus I'll have 45 days for a price drop. Hate paying $60 for a game, but whatever..........
