Fifa 11 vs PES 2011

I was in the minority last year and went with PES 2010 over the highly praised Fifa 10. I still enjoy playing it so i think that was the best choice for me.

Demo for Fifa 11 is out today and its very good but maybe someone who has Fifa 10 would be a better judge of it. I'm hearing tomorrow we'll see the PES 2011 demo so that will be good for comparison.

I played the PC demo, for FIFA 11, and didn't notice any change compared to FIFA 10. But I just played one game.
I've tried a few PES games but I just can't get into them.

Re: Fifa 11 vs PES 2011

I've just played the Fifa 11 demo so far. I like it but i have the same problem with it as past Fifas in that i like to play football games with the end to end camera (same as with NHL or Madden) and when you play Fifa games that way there's some problems. I find using that view the field of play really lacks depth as if you were playing on a short field. Also the framerate seems to dip a bit from that view.

Still waiting on the PES 2011 demo. Thought it was supposed be up on Live not as of yet.

Re: Fifa 11 vs PES 2011

I tried the Fifa 11 demo. I was a little confused playing it since I haven't played a soccer game for years. A couple of questions. What are the goalie controls? I went to penalty kicks, and didn't know how to block shots. Luckily I won since the other team decided they would rather miss 5 shots by hitting posts and going wide.

How do you aim your shots? I easily get on breakaways, but I can't seem to lift the ball over the goalie. I only scored by deflection off the keeper into the goal. I also don't understand how the power meter works at all. For a demo it was light on the tutorial aspect which makes me not want to purchase it, even though I guess that shouldn't be expected in a demo.

And as I was typing that message Amazon texted me offering Fifa 10 for 24 bucks.

Glad im not the only one who had trouble scoring on PKs. But yeah the AI taking them was even worse

Yeah, PKs are hard if you haven't played FIFA10, they actually included a tutorial in FIFA10, the full game.

It's been some time since I played FIFA10 so I don't remember exactly how to score on PKs, it's not that hard once you know how to do it.

Re: Fifa 11 vs PES 2011

In FIFA10, IIRC, I aimed wicked far in one direction and double tapped shoot (to keep the ball on the ground). A halfway decent PK-taker would almost always keep it inside the pipe. The goalie could make the save, but I found that he made the save less often than you missed the net by shooting high to the corners.

Re: Fifa 11 vs PES 2011

Finally got the PES 2011 demo (had to "go to" Germany to get it ). Once again i will be going with Konami for my football experience and my overall streak of not buying anything EA lives on!

Just for comparison (from IGN) :

Fifa 11: 8.5

PES 2011: 9.0
