I have an Xbox One X and while it looks great in 4K and HDR, my surround sound cuts out if I suspend the game to resume later. The only fix is restarting the Xbox. Anyone ever see this?

So after an hour and half install. Now I need to download 3 gig update. Sure glad I was able to play tonight when I picked it up at 9:15 (1:40a now).
Just letting people know if you buy the disc version prepare for a 3 hour install.

Anyone know about these cheat code things? Can you really not save progress with them on?

I can't say for RDR2 yet (UPS hasn't been by!), but the audio vanishes really frequently on some other games when I come back from suspended mode, particularly Forza Horizons 3 and 4. But it's just gone for the game -- when I press the gem, navigate through system menus, etc., I do still hear all the usual audio. I can get it back by restarting the game rather than the entire system. I hope RDR2 doesn't suffer from something worse than that!

If anyone has an older system and looking to pick up a One X and RDR2, Gamestop has a killer deal going on.

The 3 GB update was done downloading well before the game finished installing for me.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 —> 10/26/18

I wonder how many of us are using an external storage drive for our game installs. That is likely increasing the time it takes to install the game. I know I have a 4tb external and it took almost an hour and a half. I wonder if I would have set up the system to just install the game on the internal if it would have been significantly less.

? My speeds are 100 up and 100 down - install was quick.

Fav thing to do right now is to bump into trees to shake the snow off - it gathers on the back of your jacket.

Also, your OCD might kick in when playing this game, like the need to make new tracks in snow

The amount of dialouge they put in this game is crazy - I tried to cycle through a bunch of characters in a cabin and I couldn't get through everything they say!! There's so much!

Cover system is a bit better this time out as well and dead eye works great. A nice touch is how after a fight is over in a little village and then Dutch tells you to loot bodies for goods - then all of a sudden another attack happens.

The map is F'n gigantic - to the point where I haven't even bothered to free roam yet - F it, I'll wait lol.

Horses poop naturally as well - what a treat.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 —> 10/26/18

Decided to start replaying the first one and then maybe after I finish I’ll pick this up. The first still holds up pretty well for an eight year old game. Still looks pretty good graphically to me, although obviously the new one looks a lot better with more details and whatnot.

Which console are you playing on? The Xbox One (even the X) installs games glacially slowly from disc.

I have 1 Gbps fiber (although I've never gotten anything remotely close to that on my XB1X, even though it's hardwired; no such issues on PC), and it still takes for-friggin'-ever whenever I plop in a disc and install it for the first time.

Just standard Xbox One - was really fast.

Wonder how many people are gonna complain about the slow, deliberate pace of the game.

That is definitely the intent of the developers, but it comes at the cost of gameplay that could've been more fun, IMO. But I guess all that fun comes post-game, when you finish the story and the world opens up.

I’m sure it will be. I’m just saying I’m enjoying revisiting the first though. It was always one of the best Rockstar games if you ask me.

Part of me is tempted to trade in my Xbox One for a One X as I believe GameStop has a trade in deal going that would bring the cost of the new one down quite a bit. That way I’d have more storage and plus if I eventually upgrade to a 4K tv.

Red Dead Redemption had a 4K update...it looks pretty sweet on the X as well

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 —> 10/26/18

I just got out of the beginning area, and to my first camp. I think I like this game, but man is it clunky. Slow and clunky. Not the story, but the game play.

Your default movement speed is somewhere between an army crawl and standing perfectly still. So slow. Opening a drawer takes ages. Picking up an item takes ages. In general, holding a button to perform an action like this sucks, especially when there are several things to interact with in a given space.

All my gunfights to this point have either been in heavy snow, dense woods, or at night. Trying to make heads or tails of what's going on has been very difficult for me. I feel like I remember doing some neat shit with dead eye in the first game, but in this one all I've managed to use it for is to shoot a single person several times in the belly.

Lopper I'm with you. I'm only three missions in and it feels like forever.
Obviously I'm at the very beginning. Maybe it's the snow and cold making things clunky. No matter how this game turns out gameplay wise, it looks amazing.

Yeah, it's an incredible game/world, but I can't quite call it "fun", not yet.

Main issue is that for a game promising such immersion, I feel completely detached, mostly due to shoddy/clunky controls.

I'd like to play this game, since I pre-ordered it in June 2017 from Amazon.ca, but they apparently fucked up and everyone with a pre-order got the same e-mail that they are waiting for stock and they don't know when they will get it, so how about a $5 gift card for your troubles...

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 —> 10/26/18

My biggest complaint is that there always seems to be some kind of mist or snow wafting in front of me blurring what should be great visuals. It makes it looks like you are looking through a slight sheen of vaseline. I am playing on a 4k tv with HDR turned on, and I have made several adjustments to the HDR. It just seems to take away from what should be a beautiful experience and downgrades it a bit. Also, the clunky controls and having to hold a button to get shit done is quite annoying. I hope they patch some changes in, or at least give us the option between how it is now and quick actions.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 —> 10/26/18

I can’t wait to start this this weekend. But, I didn’t get an update and don’t think it did it auto since I do most updates manually and wasn’t in queue or anything.

Anyone ever use a cheat code? Does it help or hurt experience?

Should I bother with RDR 1? I have it and 2, but am really pretty pumped to start this game up.
