Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

Love Shack, bitches!

Hey gang,

On July 17th, Harmonix continues to diversify its catalog of playable music for Rock Band 3 and the upcoming Rock Band Blitz with three new singles: “Love Shack” by The B-52’s, Staind’s “Not Again,” and indie rockers Young the Giants’ “My Body.”

“Love Shack” comes from The B-52’s 1989 record Cosmic Thing, and was the band’s biggest hit, the first to reach the Billboard Top 40 charts. Staind’s “Not Again,” from the band’s self-titled seventh album, topped the mainstream rock charts for weeks when it was released in 2011. Finally, Young the Giant makes their debut in Rock Band with “My Body,” a single from their 2010 self-titled debut record!

Available on Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStationŽ3 system (July 17th, 2012):

• The B-52’s – “Love Shack” O X
• Staind – “Not Again”
• Young The Giant – “My Body” O

(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStationŽ3 system July18th)

Tracks marked with “O” feature support for keyboards; tracks marked with “X” will offer Pro Guitar and Pro Bass expansions for $0.99 per song.

Price:

$1.99 USD (160 Microsoft Points ™, 200 Wii Points™) per song
$0.99 USD (80 Microsoft Points™, 100 Wii Points™) per song for eligible Pro Guitar/Pro Bass upgrade

** Dates for Rock Band game tracks are tentative and subject to change. **

I've expressed my dislike of the B-52's earlier here, but I am totally in for "Love Shack". It would make for a great party song. Who says I don't think of others?

Do you ever buy RB DLC for the greater good, even though you don't particularly like the songs?

I'm in for B52's too. I had d/led that song a long time ago when I had a copy of Karaoke Revolution but it was simply horrible. I hope this is the version I grew up with the right "Bang Bang" "On the Floor Baby!" If so, me and the wife will have a blast.

To answer your second question, for my wife sure. Anybody else, hell no. They aren't paying for my dlc, and I actually love my wife . Now if they were to give me a points card or something, I'd probably do it then.

I won't buy songs I actively dislike unless there is physically a person in the room begging for it. I will buy songs I'm ambivalent on in anticipation of the greater good. I will buy songs that I enjoy hearing even thought they're "boring" to to play.

And dammit for Love Shack not being in RBB!

Why does it matter whether it's part of the RBB setlist? Is it just a case of wanting to have it be included in your $15/20 RBB price tag as opposed to spending $2 on it?

I buy all for the greater good of the game and to improve on my drumming. This week will be better than most singles weeks this year.

If that's the version you're looking for, you won't find it, because those aren't the lyrics.

Yes, but mostly only in gameshare groups so it doesn't hurt as much.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

Looking forward to both the B52s and Young the Giant. I've just recently discovered the latter band and happy to see them in the Rock Band universe.

I went through the google spreadsheet with all of our picks, just to refresh my memory as to what we were all thinking. I am pretty impressed with what folks selected. I'd buy a good 25 of 33 songs off of that list straight away. If only HMX listened to us, this video gaming world would be a better place for all.

I think so. There may be one or two they haven't announced yet, but I can't be bothered to math them up.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

Yeah, I was wondering if the leaked list of remaining songs is shaping up to be true. The only one of these four that I remember being on it is the fun. song.

$15 is a steal. Really looking forward to this game.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

The songs above join the following songs that we've previously announced for Rock Band Blitz:

• The All-American Rejects – “Kids in the Street”
• Barenaked Ladies – “One Week”
• Blink-182’ – “Always”
• Collective Soul – “Shine”
• Elton John – “I’m Still Standing”
• Fall Out Boy – “A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More ‘Touch Me’”
• Foster the People – “Pumped Up Kicks”
• Great White – “Once Bitten Twice Shy”
• Iron Maiden – “The Wicker Man”
• Living Colour – “Cult of Personality”
• P!nk – “Raise Your Glass”
• Quiet Riot’ – “Metal Health (Bang Your Head)”
• Rick Springfield – “Jessie’s Girl.
• Shinedown – “Diamond Eyes (Boom-Lay Boom-Lay Boom)”
• Tears for Fears – “Shout”
4+15 = 19. Aren't there supposed to be about 25 songs? Ah, the above PR says "more than 20" so there's at least 2 more, but probably no more than 10
