Having just played through the live version of "Surrender", I'll say "ugh" and agree. I'm just too used to the studio version. The other two songs were a blast, though.

I could tell "Unbelievable" is different (Schubert Dip was one of my go-to CDs in high school), but I would've figured it was just a remix that futzed with the arrangement and added some scratching. It's not the original, but there are certainly worse RB rerecords out there.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
I guess I'm in the minority here, but that EMF re-record does nothing for me. I don't like the guitar fuzz, the scratchy remixing and I especially hate the new vocals which sound like someone is just reading the lyrics off the teleprompter rather than singing a song. I'm passing on that one.
For those of you who are foggy on what the song is supposed to sound like, here's the original <iframe width="420" height="345" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/waacof2saZw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> and since we've moved to a new page, here's the RB re-record: <iframe width="560" height="345" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/pPoDZZNQABk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Just because you're on a new page doesn't mean we all are.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Just be thankful that we got the rerecord we did.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Finally got around to playing the recent Def Leppard tracks. The older tracks, Photograph, Rock of Ages, and Bringin on the Heartbreak sounded a bit different than I recall. It might have been from the way the songs were charted and layed down. But they just seemed slightly different than what I was used to.
Pour Some Sugar On Me (Live) I did not care for at all. I think I have always heard the live version from 1988 or 1989. This version from Mirrorball was not a good sounding recording. Still, it was nice to have more Def Leppard in Rock Band. |
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
in for all 4
What would be your dream Weezer 3 pack at this time? Mine -Why Bother? -Pink Triangle -In the Garage |
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Off the top of my head and at least partially unrealistic:
- Why Bother? - I Just Threw Out the Love of My Dreams - Keep Fishin' |
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Why is it unrealistic? Masters gone for some of those or something?
|
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Oh, I just figure the list of people who want "I Just Threw Out the Love of My Dreams" is pretty microscopic. I think it'd be fun, though.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Ah, figured it was from Make Believe or one of the last 3 albums as I didn't recognize the name. After looking it up, yeah really long shot on that one.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
They'll never hit 2M at this rate. Since it appears from the wording that they're just announcing the next month's worth early, it's really no big deal as we'll know by 10/14 anyway.
Moving on... DLC for 9/20: Hey gang, On September 20th, Nirvana’s era defining Nevermind will be reissued as a deluxe 5-disc package to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its September 24th, 1991 release. Rock Band will celebrate the band’s career by releasing 4 songs new to the Rock Band catalog and adding Pro Guitar/Bass upgrades to 10 existing Nirvana tracks! Since the entirety of Nevermind’s tracklist already appears in Rock Band’s catalog, we’ve gone to other releases for this collection celebrating the band’s career, and the “Celebrating Nirvana Pack” is an amazing collection in its own right. The pack features 3 of the biggest songs from 1993’s In Utero, “Rape Me”, “All Apologies”, and “Heart-Shaped Box”, the last of which also features a Pro Guitar/Bass upgrade. The pack is rounded out with one of the last tracks known to be recorded by the band, “You Know You’re Right”. The track was recorded in 1994 but remained unreleased until the compliation album Nirvana in 2002. Upon its release, it charted at #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock and Modern Rock charts. In addition, Rock Band is upgrading a staggering 10 tracks from the existing Nirvana catalog with Pro Guitar/Bass upgrades! Get ready to play along with your favorite Nirvana songs on your Rock Band 3 compatible Pro Hardware! As always, songs available as downloadable content for Rock Band 3 feature five-button guitar and bass parts, drums, Pro Drums, and keys, Pro Keys and harmonies, where applicable. “Heart-Shaped Box” also features Pro Guitar and Pro Bass upgrades available for an additional $0.99 upgrade download. Available on Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation®3 system (September 20th, 2011): -NEW RELEASES- • Nirvana – “Heart-Shaped Box” X • Nirvana – “Rape Me” • Nirvana – “All Apologies” • Nirvana – “You Know You’re Right” The Nirvana new tracks will be available as “Celebrating Nirvana Pack”, and all tracks will be available for purchase individually on Xbox 360, PlayStation®3 system and Wii. Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
In for all of the new Nirvana tracks. You know your right will probably be the least fun of the bunch though.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Wow. Another great week for me. Never thought we'd get Rape Me.
|
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
I'm in for those Nirvana tracks, sure.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
In for all 4.
If I had a pro guitar, I might also upgrade a few of the earlier released songs. |
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Good to finally see those four but I'd still rather have the entire Unplugged show.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
There goes 18 bucks.

Yeah, think I will skip that one. The wife hates that song, and we mostly play together.
If we could just get Sliver and Serve the Servants I think I'd have all the Nirvana I want. |
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
As much as I've been hoping for a Pearl Jam announcement, I can't complain about any of next week's stuff.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
You would have thought with that PJ20 shit...
