I think I read it here already, but is it true that I cannot download any new DLC from now on until I pick up Rock Band 3?

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

All of the DLC (non-RBN) released from this week on is RB3 only. Nothing is changing with previously released DLC.

That said, there is no reason not to upgrade, unless for whatever reason you can't afford $60 for RB3.

My RB3 Keyboard bundle shipped today. thanks to my call earlier in the week asking what happened to my preorder, Dell upgraded me to Next Business Day shipping. Looks like I'll get my free Doors tracks after all. :fc:

The game sounds interesting but aside from a handful of truly stellar songs (Night Ranger, Queen, Doors), the RB3 setlist seems like a letdown.

I had no idea this game was even out until I saw it this week in stores.

Removal of competitive online play is a pretty big letdown. Not sure WTF they are thinking with some of this stuff.

I'd still say the game is well worth getting though.

It's a lot more fun than I expected it to be. Hell, even Roxette is a blast to play.

I wonder if they have plans for functionality dlc?

there are so many great updates to this game (pro insruments, filtering, playlists etc), I cant believe they fucked with the single best part of the game: the basic core gameplay. By that I mean how you now fail out faster and Overdrive is much easier to accrue. the core gameplay was just perfect. And yes some people have done note by note compares of Rb3 and RB2 where it now takes fewer notes to fail out. Hope that gets patched

The OD thing being "easier" is so that you can get solo scores in band play. It's an amazing thing! There were many many times with RB2 when I would turn down playing in a band because I was trying to catch up and log solo scores on the new DLC. Now that's not an issue.

porieux 10-29-10 06:40 PM

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

It feels like they took the "band" aspect out of the game, it's really just solo stats now, oh and you can say your band is called 'whatever' but it seems to be basically meaningless now. Maybe they should have changed it to Rock Game.

Again, still fun but perplexing.

I just dont like how you can get overdrive after just one white section. I think its more fun and rewarding when you have to earn it over 2 sections.

Holy crap! I just got exactly 85% on the Freebird solo and unlocked the "85% on all solos" achievement. I was 1/2 a second away from breaking something and got 85% on the last possible note. whew...

 Werewolves of London is fantastic fun on Expert guitar. Wasn't expecting that at all.

Although fuck those Spanish songs. Seriously.

Wait I just caught this. It gives you a score under no-fail mode? What?!
Please tell me it doesn't post these bastardized scores to the leaderboards.
I won't use no-fail anyway, but I'd hate to think the leaderboards are that compromised.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

it shouldn't affect the leaderboards though. If you suck at a song and pass it, your score won't be that good anyway.

What? Oye mi amor is one of the best songs in the game.

True, but unless you are at the top of the leaderboard, scores are all relative. If you did your best slogging through a tough song, you shouldn't be able to be beaten by someone with a cheat enabled. Hopefully it's a non-issue and no-fail disables leaderboards, though I'm not sure what the point of it saving such scores at all is.

Ugh. So, it's harder and has a weaker playlist. :(

Normally I'm not big on novelty songs in RB, but is there any chance for Axis of Awesome's "4 Chords?" Would they have to license all the songs in the normal manner, or would using a line or two from a song somehow count for less?

One of my "infamous" first five that got the 1 lighter treatment.
