Same. I think they work really well for those type of games too, because they get people playing and make it easy for people to impulse buy the full game.

I only played the original Halo, I guess that's an easy way for me to give the series a try again.

quick question, I apparently hadn't realized that my maxed out 3 years of gold came to a close tomorrow. I just got an email saying that they are auto-renewing at the one month rate of $9.99. The transaction is currently pending.
Is there a way to cancel this? Or if I input one of my many stock-piled year long gold codes, will that abort the 9.99 charge?

This happened to me. I think it's too late. From what they told me, their system uses another time zone that's already timed to the next day. The only hope is if your credit card gets declined.

Games with Gold: Now an Ongoing Benefit for Xbox Live Gold Members on Xbox 360
At E3 2013, we launched Games with Gold as a limited-time program to thank our Xbox Live Gold members. Within that short period of time, we’ve seen an overwhelming response, with more than 120 million hours played with Games with Gold titles. Today, as a part of the “Week of Xbox Live,” we’re excited to announce that we are making Games with Gold an ongoing benefit for Xbox Live Gold members on Xbox 360.
Whether they are blockbuster AAA or popular arcade titles, Games with Gold continues to offer a diverse mix of games with two free Xbox 360 titles a month – yours to keep and at no additional cost. According to recent surveys, 97 percent of participating members have given their stamp of approval for Games with Gold, and we’re excited to continue bringing you great games every month as part of our ongoing commitment to providing great value on Xbox 360.
Don’t forget to download “Halo 3,” called “nothing short of epic” by IGN.com and available Oct. 16-31. Stay tuned to Xbox Wire and Major Nelson’s blog for new Games with Gold titles announced each month.

It will be ironic if it's the X1, Ryse the main candidate of course.

Assuming you specifically decide to go Gold for this it would be $2.50/game. Not bad.

They really need to just toss Ryse in the box of every system.

Shocktober Sale.
Not very much, but Ghostbusters: The Video Game ($7.49) and The Walking Dead: 400 Days ($2.49) are priced well.

Their Top 5 will be up later today. However it shakes out, some really well-regarded games will be left out in the cold:
Bastion
Bionic Commando: Rearmed
Braid
Castle Crashers
Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon
Minecraft
Pac-Man CE/Pac-Man CE DX+
Peggle
Plants vs. Zombies
Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords
Spelunky
The Walking Dead
amongst others. . .
I would have to think Castle Crashers, Minecraft, and Walking Dead are locks. But if the Pac-Man CEs don't make it, someone's getting a beating.
