Also, thanks for posting those videos, Chess. And thanks for the RF:G info, Chew. I'm really looking forward to playing it.

More Red Faction videos!

CTF:

Team Anarchy, which looks like TDM:

<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/gouXYwss3Mw&hl=en_US&fs=1?rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/gouXYwss3Mw&hl=en_US&fs=1?rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

I could really potentially like this one!

Watching the Space Asshole video really makes me wish the vehicles were available online. Maybe in Armageddon.

That is the same bug that got me. I could play multiplayer RDR the first time I tried, but then after their update that was supposed to fix the online it broke my game so I can't play online anymore. I have now given up on that game as a multiplayer experience, although I absolutely loved the single player.

How long is softball season anyway?

Considering that the rest of the guys are playing shooters Tues and Thurs...perhaps "PS3 Wednesday Driving Night" might make some sense:

Burnout Paradise
Modnation Racers
Motorstorm Pacific Rift
Split/Second
Wipeout HD
Blur
Pure

That doesn't appeal to me personally. I actually don't like driving games at all and only bought Burnout so I could play with the group, I don't think I'll be buy any others.

Re: Weekly Friday PS3 Rotation Night

Right now, as a person who has been reading all the threads, it seems like these games are owned by a few people:

Uncharted 2, Red Faction: Guerrilla, LittleBigPlanet, Burnout Paradise, Modnation Racers, Red Dead Redemption, and Grand Theft Auto IV. I think that's more than enough to alternate between at least for a little while on Wednesdays and Fridays. If we rotate both Wednesdays and Fridays that still only allows us to play eight different games a month, and we are currently planning on playing RDR for at least the next two weeks on Wednesday anyway.

I count six potentially solid multiplayer games in that list above (I don't count LBP because it's a game people who don't have the rotating game can play in a small group). The best part is most of those games are pretty modestly priced now, with the exception of Modnation and RDR. If we do decide to add another game it should be something cheap like Bomberman, and not something new like Blur which would cost interested parties a pretty hefty sum. Just my opinion.

I only picked up RDR because I hadn't picked up a game in over six month, which is usually my limit before I will buy a new game. I plan on getting Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and then Metal Gear Solid: Rising, which both will have multiplayer and are suspected to come out around six months apart (AC:B in the fall, and MGS:R in Q2 of 2011). So the whole next hot thing on Wednesday would likely be a bust for me.
I didn't necessarily mean it had to be a brand spanking new game. Just whatever is fun that we latch onto. Red Dead I bought new because the reviews were sooooo high and it had been months since I bought a new game (plus I had my wifes blessing - you've been a good boy working extra hours - go pick yourself up something to keep from glaring at the family). If there is an overwhelming majority that want to jump in on a cheap game so be it. AC:B and MGS:R intrigue me so I may pick them up. I am leaning towards Medal of Honor and I am undecided on CoD:Black Ops. I've heard alot of praise for Black Light Tango ( Bargain online only FPS - 14 mp maps and crazy customization) which will come out later this year. Lately Gamefly has really helped me thin out the games I would keep so alot of these end up as rentals

Re: Weekly Friday PS3 Rotation Night

Those co-op / limited multiplayer games could be used as an alternative to whatever game is scheduled.
LBP, RE5, RDR DLC.

Don't forget Bioshock 2 has multiplayer that is lots of fun and there are times it can be had for a song and a dance.

Re: Weekly Friday PS3 Rotation Night

I've heard some good things about Bioshock 2, but I'm hesitant to grab another FPS. It took me a good two months before I was used to Call of Duty, because I would get nauseous from the movements. Once I was used to it I downloaded the Bioshock 2 demo (along with some other first person games) and they still made me feel ill. I wish I wasn't like that, because I know I'm missing out on a lot of good games.

I have to agree with Slider: my 5+ hours of Burnout over the past 2 days filled my personal driving game quota for quite a while. I'll play it again when it's next up for rotation, but I'm hoping that's not for a couple weeks.

I actually agree with you Slider...just made the driving suggestion offhand. It looks like people are taking the plunge on Burnout Paradise and RF:G (

Re: Weekly Friday PS3 Rotation Night

I am very psyched for RF:G. I'm also pretty sure that I'm grabbing Bomberman Ultra in lieu of Mortal Kombat II. So, everyone should check out the free demo on PSN. ARCADE GAMES CAN BE FUN!

Re: Weekly Friday PS3 Rotation Night

I just played the RF:G demo and I had a lot of fun. I'm going to miss the vehicles in multiplayer though, but I guess the backpacks are a neat alternative.

Re: Weekly Friday PS3 Rotation Night

I won't be getting Red Faction as I have it on PC and don't want to buy a second copy just for multiplayer.

At least keep an eye out for cheap copies...maybe the next Gamestop B2G1 or something.

When you guys get the game, put the following code in under (I think) Options and then Bonus to unlock a "Multiplayer Map Pack Featuring Four Maps": MAPMAYHEM

As best I can tell, the $6.99 expansion pack may be worth getting somewhere down the road as well. We'll see how it goes first, and it has a ton of maps already.

I actually don't care that much for the single player game. I've been playing it quite a bit today, and it's kind of repetitive and irritating...but I think the multiplayer is going to be a lot better. All the tools, options and fundamentals are there for a great experience.

I don't really care for any single player games, with the rare exception of these sandbox-type games. The fact that you can destroy just about every damn thing on the map with your hammer and bombs really fills me with joy. I could spend hours hammering down buildings on top of people, or driving cars through walls. It reminds me of a post-apocalyptic Grand Theft Auto, but you can destroy everything. I didn't do the mission the demo told me to, I just messed around for about an hour.

Space Asshole then?

I wish you could've heard the origin of that...think you'd enjoy it. See if I can find a link....

Idle Thumbs podcast episode 46...first 20 minutes or so is all about Red Faction: http://www.idlethumbs.net/download/idlethumbs046

Re: Weekly Friday PS3 Rotation Night

Soooooooo.....Uncharted 2 this week? With all this RF:G talk, I almost forgot.

I think it's probably a good pick and will help maintain momentum since a lot of folks have it. Chew, if you can update the OP, I'll bump the Uncharted 2 thread. I'm willing to host, but I seem to have connection issues with this game.

Also, Chew, I think keeping a "history" at the bottom of the OP will give folks a continuing idea of what games we play.
