Yeah I just started getting into Modern Warfare 2 since my boss bought all of us copies and the lack of dedicated servers is a big pain.

As someone who ONLY plays Zombie mode, I'm hoping for some differentiation as well. Paying $10 for one map is a travesty.

Wait, so I have to spend $20 extra dollars to get the 4 maps that I already paid $30 for, and are conveniently already on my hard drive? FUUUUCK you Activision. FUCK. YOU.

I put in 100+ hours of MP, and I didn't notice any cheating, boosting or glitching. If it was happening, I didn't know. But I wasn't bothered.

Well, I rarely notice boosting. People usually create their own lobbies for that. However when you have a guy on your team who is 2 and 20 you start to get a little suspect when it keeps happening.

Cheating, I have seen a few auto-Fals, but not much. I really don't even know what to look for. I do see a lot of modded systems, but I have no idea if they activate the cheat glitches.

Most of the Glitches have already been patched. The only one I see all the time is the rock people will hide inside of on Fuel. Boosters I see in waves. I hate it when they are nuke boosting. Right now they seem to float over into Barebones matches. I'll mess up their boosting when they are ruining a match.

I hate Kotick, but I love me some Call of Duty. Not sure I'll be able to resist this one, especially since I loved World at War and didn't care all that much for Modern Warfare 2. What to do, what to do...

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops (11/9/10)

This sounds interesting.

Black Ops Introduces Offline Multiplayer — i.e. "Combat Training"

Offline multiplayer matches against AI opponents will be a feature of Call of Duty: Black Ops, a mode the game's studio built to include gamers who are disinclined to spend much time in the game's notoriously challenging online multiplayer culture.

Saying there is a large segment of the Call of Duty community that never takes the game online, offline multiplayer is meant to acclimate new players to the maps and match structure of online play, while still serving as a useful practice for mid-level or veteran players.

Combat Training will be a "complete standalone experience," said Mark Lamia, CEO of Treyarch, the studio designing the game. It will have its own progression system.

Some new details about the multiplayer:

New Call of Duty: Black Ops Multiplayer Modes, Details
Treyarch unveils new modes tonight in L.A.
September 1, 2010
by Jim Reilly

Treyarch online director Dan Bunting and multiplayer design director David Vonderhaar took the stage during a special event in Los Angeles tonight to announce new multiplayer modes for Call of Duty: Black Ops.

For the first time ever, Call of Duty is getting its own offline multiplayer Bot mode called Combat Training. This mode uses a completely independent rank progression, which you can play alone or with friends. Consider this a new opportunity to train before you test your skills online.

Tier 1 perks also now impact how your character looks in the game. Flak Jacket, for example, makes you look like the dude from Hurt Locker.

Two new Killstreak special weapon care packages were shown; a chain gun called the Death Machine and a missile launcher called the Grim Reaper. Other kill streaks include napalm strike, rc-xd (remote controlled car), gunship, mortars, and a SAM turret to shoot down gunships.

A new form of in-game currency is now being added called "CP" or CoD Points. Players will earn money as they play that they can then use to unlock weapons. CoD Points can not be purchased with real money.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Xbox 360 Trailer - Wager Match Trailer
<object id='vid_14349501' width='480' height='270' data='http://media.ign.com/ev/embed.swf' type='application/x-shockwave-flash'><param name='movie' value='http://media.ign.com/ev/embed.swf' /><param name='allowfullscreen' value='true' /><param name='allowscriptaccess' value='always' /><param name='bgcolor' value='#000000' /><param name='flashvars' value='vgroup=codblackops_trl_wagermatch_90110&object=14349501' /></object>
Players can also take time limited challenges called Contracts to earn some dough. The three contract categories are Mercenary, Operations, and Specialist. Mercenary rewards players for kills and kill streaks, Operations are for team players, and Specialists are for unique play styles.

Gambling has arrived in the form of a new mode called Wager Match where players can bet CoD points. The top three players split the winnings. This mode includes four new game types:

One in the Chamber -- Players will start with pistols only, one bullet, and three lives. If you kill someone you get a bullet.

Sticks and Stones -- Players start with a crossbow and a ballistic knife, and a tomahawk. If a player is killed with a tomahawk they go bankrupted.

Gun Game -- All players start with pistol, and every kill gives you a better weapon. First one to progress through the weapons wins. If you get knifed you get reset a level.

Sharp Shooter -- All players start with the same randomly selected weapon. Weapons cycle, but everyone has the same weapon.
Treyarch also went in-depth with an all-new weapon customization system.

Players will now be able to attach custom made emblems and decals onto their weapons, and attach custom targeting reticules (such as a red smiley face dot). Players will be able to edit, rotate, and scale images to place on all of the weapons they've unlocked.

Lastly, Theater Mode was shown, allowing players to record clips and create screenshots to tag and share with friends online. The camera can be switched between first and third person perspectives as well as free roam.
Some of the online modes sound really cool.

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops (11/9/10)

A few things i found out from sources who have played the game in person:

- You have to really earn the killstreaks. You can't call in a chopper gunner and recieve credits towards your next killstreak. I repeat - your killstreak kills will not be credited towrds your next killstreak.

- No Stopping Power nor Juggernaut/Pain Pill to be used as perks /streaks. Nothing that affects your bullets power nor invulnerability are in the game. The actual weapons power and your aim are what will determine things.

- No douchey commando teleportation. Ballistic knife essentially replaces this but you still have to aim the ballistic knife

Zombie mode exists. - dunno if it will make final cut though.

They really want this to be the best selling one to prove they can take the lead on the CoD franchise with the void left by Infinity Ward. And they really want the multiplayer community to fall in love with this.

FYI, looks like Amazon took away the $20 voucher for pre-ordering Black Ops. And no, I hadn't gotten around to pre-ordering yet.

Well that sucks. I was planning on using my Halo Reach credit for this. Looks like Wal Mart stopped theirs too. I'm sure Best Buy, K Mart, or TRU will be doing something.

All of these things now make me want to pick this game up. But I also need to renew my XBL membership and it's $60 in Canada... I don't ever see it on sale here.
