Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops (11/9/10)
Gave zombies a run last night for a couple hours. Pretty decent map. The starting pistol fucking blows though, and the random box location from the beginning sucks, but other than that it's just as addicting as it's always been.

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops (11/9/10)
I had disc problems.. or at least I couldn't get the update to load properly, so first time out, playing the game with no texture mapping and surfaces other than the sky and buildings smooth and mirrored, it looked like the opening to Casino Royal, with everyone running around looking like a silhouette with no features.

I know the PC version doesn't sell as much as the 360 version (who buys the PS3 version of COD?), but come on, don't make a rushed release actually operate as a rushed release. People were losing their shit last night on multiplayer about the lag issue and almost every server my friends and I played on just felt strained.
The game looks nicer than that of Modern Warfare 2, which I own on both the PC and 360, but man; it's hard to play on both single and multi-player without that lag getting in the way. I'm tempted to pick up the 360 version today just so I don't have to deal with that lag. |

Can I ask why you even bothered with the PC version? (aside from possibly preferring the mouse / keyboard system)

Again, I'm debating on picking up the 360 version later. However, the Best Buy that does video game trade-ins is on the opposite side of town from my house and I'm lazy. :( |

End of chapter 3...the long tunnel to tunnel clearing Chapter 5 (I think its chapter 5)...the one where you have to push the oil barels down into the ditch... and I gues the second to last level is bad.... The first two on the list are not as hard as some made them out to be on hardcore.... |

I like that you can vote for the next map in multiplayer, but I wish they would give you two options rather than 1 option and the map you just played, because I must have played Jungle 6 times in a row last night because the people in my lobby kept voting to play it again.

MP maps seem REALLY varied, though because of that I still have no idea where I'm going in most of them.
To perfect the advancement they really should allow for rearranging perks. I'd like to run my Warlord (two attachments) with Sleight of Hand but of course they are both stuck in perk 2 category. It would be nice to move perks among the categories. ----- So far I'm really digging the maps for playability. 99% of my games have been tactical run and gun (my style) without snipers and noob tubers having too much advantage. The size of the maps also seems to be keeping the camping down to a minimum and that is always a good thing. Reaction times, graphics and overall intensity I'd still give to the MW series (plus my akimbo'd G18's) but there are some plus sides to Black Ops that I'm digging. |

Has anyone tried the wager matches - Sticks and Stones or the Gun Game?

Well.... Xbox controller, accidental knife is maybe 1 in 20. With PS3 controller number is like 1 in 6.

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops (11/9/10)
I've played MW1, MW2, & now BO on PS3 with only WaW on 360 and I've got to tell you I can't stand using the 360 controller for WaW. I have large hands but do NOT like the feel of the controller for FPS.

And no kidding on Nuke Town: so "up close and personal" it's almost a constant respawn. The map looks very cool but for me it's a bloodbath. And to the doof on my team last night who would NOT move out of the way of the door so I could enter and run away from the RC car before getting blown up by it--thanks. Thanks a lot. |
Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops (11/9/10)
You guys need to learn how to properly hold a PS3 controller. If you're giving it the death grip, you're doing it wrong...
EDIT: That's what she said? |
Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops (11/9/10)
Nuke Town sounds like the obligatory map like "Oil Rig" (I'm sure that's not the name of it) from MW2where you die constantly but can rack up 20+ kills. WaW had a map like this too.

That map alone is one reason why I stick to Hardcore only ..because it's left out. |

You might be thinking of "Rust" where a good team secures the center platform and reigns down explosives from Hell. ...and that goes without even considering when the kill streaks begin. Uggh.

I like the Nuke Town map just because it is so brightly lit.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/di...ck-ops-faceoff Summary: -PS3 drops in resolution from previous COD titles from 1024x600 to 960x544, 360 version increases slightly to 1040x608. -360 version has noticeably better performance, can be as much as 20FPS, even in cutscenes! -360 has higher resolution shadows and better shadow filtering. -Graphical bugs do appear in both versions but PS3 has them more frequently and are more apparent. -In 3D mode both versions drop frames more often but the 360 version manages to maintain its framerate much better, the PS3 version sometimes drops down to as low as 20FPS! -360 supports split screen online multiplayer with support for two separate gamertags, PS3 version forces the second player to log in as a guest account. |

It's running at 960x544 for one thing. So that's probably why it looks worse than MW2 and more like WAW.

EDIT: It is annoying that companies can't seem to get these multi-platform games done correctly. COD seems to be better on 360, FFXIII was definitely better on PS3. And PS3 can look stunning. I still haven't seen anything from COD that compares to the graphics I experienced in Killzone 2. |

MW2 = A+ MW = A BO = B+ WAW = B |
