As you mentioned, it all depends on how much you want all the non-DLC extras. The DLC will be probably available to everyone eventually. There isn't even confirmation that Shuma & Jill will be available on Day 1 (the disclaimer is around 4 weeks until the characters are released for DLC).
I pre-ordered that Special Edition a month or so ago. Mostly because I love fighting games and I've been playing them my whole life (competitively for the last 8-9 years)

Could be real, could be fake. Even so, the character is one of the last two to be listed on the (so far) extremely legit "rumor" list.

Save for shots of Galactus as a final boss, the rumor list is now complete.

Do the Capcom SEs tend to drop pretty quickly? I know the Zombrex edition of DR2 is now down in the $40 to 50 range. I'll probably wait for something like that to occur for this one

Also in other news there was video of the Galactus Boss Fight on YouTube, but it's been marked "Private" as of tonight.

The SE is sold out at Gamestop and Amazon for both systems. I think you can still order from the capcom store with a bonus t-shirt and free shipping + 10% off with the THANKYOUTEN promo code.

Between the limited and frankly, disappointing roster (which looks like it it's been intentionally made small to nickel-and-dime players with DLC add-ons), the annoying animated sequences before a super move (I hope you can turn those off; although it won't fix people who leave them on from delaying multiplayer games) and that gimmicky final boss fight, I can safely say I'll wait until this is sub $20.

Super moves are done maybe once every other fight.
Final boss is just one stage out of many - it's primarily a multi-player game.
All your criticisms are now been null and void.

Both previous MVC games had slight pauses/animations before Supers.
As far as rosters go, it's the 2nd largest roster in the VS. Series.
X-Men Vs. Street Fighter: 17
Marvel Super Heroes Vs. Street Fighter: 17
Marvel Vs. Capcom: 21 (5 Pallet Swaps)
Marvel Vs. Capcom 2: 56
Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom: 26
Marvel Vs. Capcom 3: 38 (Announced So Far)
I'm happy that of these 38 characters they all play completely different from each other.
Gimmick final boss fight? Have you played ANY of the other VS. games? It's the same formula

Maybe amongst Casual players, but Supers come out quite often in Competitive level MVC2. Either in Combos, for Spacing, Chip Damage, etc.

Old news but Gamestop is participating in Midnight Releases for the game.
You can use this Store Locator to see if your store will open from 10pm-12:01am for MVC3.

In terms of the most recent Capcom fighters, the transition from SFIV to SSFIV was more than just characters. Lots of changes to individual characters themselves (regarding frame data).
Thing with MVC3 is I don't think Capcom is looking to re-balance this game at all. It's purposely supposed to be fun and broken beyond all hell.

Played this for about 10 minutes last night before becoming bored with it. I guess I'm just done with fighting games. The controls are terrible in this game and you just flail around mashing buttons the entire time with no control. Why they got rid of the 3 punch, 3 kick formula I'll never understand. I'm still excited to try the new Mortal Kombat, but this was a major let down

8-button Fighting Game would be awful. 3 x Punch, 3 x Kick, Assist 1 and Assist 2?
As for controls, it whether you personally are used to them or not.

I swear when playing MvC2 I had 3 punches and 3 kicks. You would press something like HP + HK and team mate #1 would come out, MP + MK would bring out the other. Then, all the punches and.or all the kicks would do the super moves.

LP HP A1
LK HK A2
LP + LK = Tag 2nd Character in Current Lineup
HP + HK = Tag 3rd Character in Current Lineup
Super Moves for most characters:
QCF/QCB + LP/HP (HP/HK)= Individual Super
A1 + A2 w/ 2 or 3 Bars= Team Super

Yeah, I knew it had kicks and punches. MvC3 does not.
