Man you really make me want to sell mine. How do you ensure that you don't get an asshole who uses the code or gives it to a friend and then claims that your code wasn't valid?

I just put that it was a unique 1-time use code and there would be no returns or refunds. And I checked the No Refunds box on the eBay item description page. I guess they could file a claim with Paypal. But my whole transaction was a breeze.

Mine only went for $9.50, but I listed it at a dumb time because it was fresh on my mind. I still hate selling codes on eBay. It makes my butthole clench.

Re: Official Gears of War 3 thread

You know, I've only had problems selling a download code once. It was for Banjo-Kazooie on Xbox Live Arcade, and the buyer thought he was going to get a physical disc with the newer 360 game (at an incredible deal). I basically said (in a nice way) "The item listing was clear as to what this was. Since the code is 'out there' now I can't give you a refund since there's no way to keep you from using or redistributing it. However, you should be able to resell it at cost, or just play the game. It's better than the 360 title anyway." It never escalated and I ended with good feedback.

sort of true, but sort of not. you can join games in progress if you have a friend playing that's on your friend's list. i did it today. but you are right, you can't just plop into a random game that's already going.

horde if fucking hard. sucks with 4 people. i honestly believe you are going to need 5 people to beat it. i've been to 39 twice and no further. the other thing that sucks balls is once all your barriers and stuff get wrecked and everyone dies, you are hosed. you can't rebuild anything.

At least it wasn't that hard, in hardcore.

I liked it too. I'll comment more when more people finish campaign.

Oh and I also liked that when I finished I was Level 8. :D

Just finished the campaign as well. I too think it was a great ending. I don't know what it is about the Gears series but the games just seem to have a touch of class and polish that most other games I've played don't. Kudos to Epic.
I'm a little embarassed to say this, but I was kinda emotional once the credits rolled knowing this was the end. With the cash cow this series is, does anyone think its truly over? Maybe a couple prequels?

I now remember why I hated horde mode in the 2nd one. Not so much hated the concept, but hated the fact that you start 5 strong and are doing well then people just inexplicably drop out. Basically you waste an hour or two doing it and then are completely hosed. Fuck.

No way. It's done. Just like Halo ended with Halo 3.

I'm managing to get through one act a night. Finished Act III last night. Had to roll my eyes at:

Spoiler:
Zombies. Really?! Does EVERY game have to have these now?

Re: Official Gears of War 3 thread

I had the exact same thought.

Also, those who are ultra-sensitive to spoilers might want to finish the campaign before horde, as some of the new surprise enemies show up in horde too.

We finished Act 2 last night. Is it still 5 Acts? I'd like to know how many nights I need to give up. I'm not looking forward to the Insane run they'll want to do.

Regarding the ending:

Spoiler:
Don't read unless you want the ending spoiled:

Spoiler:
I love that it was a definitive finale. It was a great sense of closure. But was anyone else a little disappointed in how the war was ended?

99% of the GOW3 campaign is trying to find Marcus' father. Then we find him, he flips a switch on some lighthouse and all the enemies turn into a pile of ash.

I guess I was expecting a giant all-out battle. After everything we went through over 3 games. It's all wrapped up in the final chapter by a guy that says, "I just gotta flip this switch to kill all the bad guys".

We love the mode but it is brutal this time around. Once at Level 30 it's mean. You go down...it's $6000 to get back in and who has $6000 if you've got to rebuild and strengthen defenses. Plus I had the Sawed-Off Shotgun, walked up behind a Boomer and almost point-blank popped him....all he did was shake his head and moan. That was Level 35. It even takes a double dose of the Hammer of Dawn sometimes.

Finally started playing tonight. All I can say is wow!!! As I expected...for me..this is most likely the game of the year. Epic has delivered once again!!! I cannot wait to continue my journey through this final chpater. :)

I've gotten to level 39 one horde and i was done. we got crushed so many times, it wasn't fun anymore. i've yet to see the hammer of dawn in any of the games. i did see the longshot for the first time last time. the vulcan is badass, if you have good teamwork.

You can actually join into Horde if say your friends are playing it and they have a spot open. At least I was able to join in with some buddies of mine when they were already on Wave 14 last night. Perhaps because they may or may not have been a private match but I was able to. The only downside I saw was when you enter in you start off with $1000. It makes sense why, but still a bummer. So if say someone leaves you might want to send a shout out to someone on your friens list to try and join you.

I played Beast Mode last night and it was a lot of fun in Normal. We finished one session in 20 minutes or so.

Then we played in hardcore and couldn't pass round 6, LOL!

If you were not doing so already make sure you have 1 person at all time be a Kantus and spamming the X buttun to heal/revive the rest of the team while they are attacking. Shoulb be able to unlock the Kantus by round 3 or 4 usually. At least whenever I am playing it has seemed to help out quite a bit. Although I have not been able to get a group together to attempt Insane yet :D

Finished the campaign.

Spoiler:
They never answered my biggest question: why does the Locust Queen look human? Guess they're saving that for the inevitable prequel trilogy.

I've actually have wondered that. Was hoping this would answer that.

There've been hints spread throughout the campaigns of the games, mostly in the collectibles, so people have pieced together some interesting theories based on those. But yes, more concrete answers would have been nice in the "final" installment of the series.
