The hardest thing for me was disarming 6 people. I kept shooting them dead, and it seemed that the game wasn't giving me credit sometimes (I kept checking to see). I think the gun was reloading itself without my input. What really helped was to empty all the ammo except for a full clip, thereby making reloading impossible.

Or use a gun with more than six bullets in it, like the volcano pistol.

Has anyone done any skiing yet? Lasso a horse while someone else is on it and see how long you can go.

The Mysterious Stranger was present at Marston's final stand, watching silently behind Ross and his posse as they gunned Marston down. I dunno if he was Death. The first mission he gave Marston was to prevent or encourage a man to cheat on his wife with a hooker. The second was to support or rob a nun who was receiving alms for the poor. Then he gives Jack Marston the lead to find (and kill) Edgar Ross.

Death is one interpretation. He could also be God, or Satan, or even a representation of The Past catching up with every character. Who knows. But I like how it keeps us questioning...

I am rather annoyed that I did not come across this "Stranger" encounter during the game. Also...

Spoiler:
I seriously doubt it will happen with me continuing on as Jack. Very, very annoying.

Can anyone tell me where the settinga are to "auto-aim" (if there is such a setting)? I can barely hit the broad side of a barn let alone those gd deer running around.

1. Go to your game options and change aiming to casual.
2. When you see someone (person or animal) you want to shoot, point your reticule in the general vicinity or direction of the target and pull your left trigger (LT). The reticule should snap directly to the target.

You can keep doing this with multiple targets. It should help make the fights go a lot easier. Get a rythm going... half-ass aim, pull LT, kill, release LT, half-ass aim, pull LT, kill, etc.... The key is you have to release LT between kills.

Awesome. Thank you. I blew about 30 rounds trying to take out a single deer :)

That's also normal aiming. Is it just more forgiving on casual?

Has anyone got the "posse up" trophy yet? I know its going to be a bitch to get since you have to be the leader and not just in the posse. I had 6 people in my posse with an invite out to the other 2 people in the free roam and they never accepted. I was pissed.

I got the achievement. It's not too hard, but it helps if you can communicate freely with the randoms out there. Just tell them they're participation is only temporary.

Larry, Boba, and I along with some other non DVD Talkers had a great time at El Presidio last night just mowing down and blasting the Mexican Army and racking up huge bounties.

I believe normal aiming lets you aim after the snap. Like say you want to aim for the head.

I use normal in MP and expert in single player.

My fault you're standing in the middle of the road whistling. I couldn't control the horse. First time, shame on you. Second through fifth time, shame on me.

You know come to think of it I think Liver & Onions is at fault and should be reported here because he didn't play with us and to me that is a personal attack on us. Pinata make it happen :D

You can still aim after the snap on casual too. The snap usually places you on the target's chest. Then, I move the reticule up slightly to go for the head shot.

I just remembered one of the best moments was fighting hordes of mexicans and asking snoop where the hell he was and his response was gold. "I'm picking feverfew". Fucking priceless

Really like the character Rickets. Reminds me of Sam Elliot.

In casual it will stick, and follow the guy you've snapped on to.
In normal it won't for very long.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

I'm at about 60% completion and absolutely LOVE this game but man am I getting tired of Marston getting backstabbed and taken advantage of by just about everyone. The typical encounter with an NPC goes like this:

Marston: Well hello there friend, I'm looking for Bill Williamson.
NPC: I know where he is, but first can you mow my lawn, do my groceries and shine my shoes?
Marston: /sigh

The only likeable characters I've met so far are the Marshall and Rickets; everybody else are mostly asshole douchebags. Speaking of doing chores for NPCs, yesterday I met the mysterious stranger for the first time (the one who asks you to go see the dude trying to cheat on his wife) and when he was done asking I just emptied my revolver in his back (What am I, a marriage counselor?). I hope he respawns because that stranger sounds intriguing.

But yeah, LOVE the game still :)

Edited to add: And cougars are out to eradicate the human race

 Not sure if he respawns or not because I never tried shooting him, but did he fall over dead?

I don't want to say anything else about it to avoid spoilers, but...that's funny for reasons anyone who has completed that quest will know.

It'll toss six online co-op missions (for two to four players) into the sandbox and take your posse uphill, downstream and in-between several shootouts.

You'll need a PSN account or an Xbox Live Gold Membership to partake, of course, but we're assuming most of you have access to such wonderful luxuries. Spare a thought for life in the olden West, where folks had to get by with just 28.8k modems and AOL keywords.

Man, time flies while playing this game. It says I've been playing for nearly 48 hours! It's easy to get lost in how amazing the design is. Unlike GTA, it's a lot more peaceful a gameplay experience. Yeah, I know that sounds odd seeing how much shooting you do but there is no cell phone going off, no traffic noise and no radios. Just a subtle score and nature.

* * *

Cougars: Where are they? I haven't found a single one yet.
Bears: No bears either. Where do I find these things?

Found my first glitch last night. I went to do a mission and the cutscene skipped leaving wondering what happened. I restarted the game and this time, when I walked to the checkpoint, the ground was missing. It was just a sea of brown nothingness though I did get to see the cutscene this time and everything returned to normal afterward.

I just got to the third area. There are bears up by Big Trees in the very top (where it's snowy).

I rather like Bonnie as a character too. But yeah, everyone in Mexico are dicks. I was really excited to get there and then just wanted to kill everyone I had to work for.
