And Amazon just sent me my download code. Gotta love service like that.
Just wondering if I should shoot them an email. |
Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!
If it was just the regular email, the timing is very coincidental. Might as well send an email. Can't hurt.
Is there a way to tell which horses are better? Right now I'm still on a starting horse. Also, is there a way to get back to the main menu without going back to the dashboard? If there is, I'm not finding it. |
Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!
Alright, I'll just wait it out then. Someone over at cag just said they got the email as well. I should have it by the morning. Thanks
I can't help you with horses, I haven't had a chance to play the game yet. I let my dad borrow it for the night because I had some work to get done...I'm really wishing I didn't do that now. |
Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!
My golden guns code and social club login actually went through last night even though the server said it couldn't connect.

Do some horses handle better or gallop faster like cars in GTA IV? |
Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!
I don't even have the shipping notice from Amazon yet, (Still "Shipping Soon") but I got the golden guns code in my email this morning. I feel much better about picking it up at TRU now. I'm sure I can find someone to sell a new game to at a reasonable price when the Amazon game comes, and then will still come out ahead with the $25 TRU gift card and $20 Amazon credit.

I joined the Rockstar Social Club. How do I redeem the gentleman's outfit? Just go to the Avatar shop?
I finally was able to get online late last night (presumably because the server load was reduced), but by then I was too tired to do anything except wander around in free roam for a few minutes. Some guy came up behind me and started shooting -- I whipped around and shot his head off. Turns out he had the viral "RockStar" achievement, so if any 360 players still need that and you see me online, send me an invite and shoot my ass. |

Could you tell if it was in response to your email or if it was the email that was supposed to be sent out automatically with the pre-order?

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!
I also got a email from Amazon for the code.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!
I rec'd the card with the code in the game and then this morning at 2:48 am I rec'd an email from Amazon with my Pre-Order Bonus code, the Golden Guns Weapon Pack. LOL, now I have two! Still waiting for my $20 GC or code though :( .
I had lots of MP connection issues last night. I was only able to connect to Free Roam once and then I was disconnected after 5 minutes. Didn't try a private match. Also, I couldn't connect to the Social Club. Question, when do you get the lasso? I assume you choose it in the weapon wheel (left bumper)? A couple of the early missions said to either capture them alive or dead. I had to go the dead route because I couldn't figure out how to subdue them. |
Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!
I got the code too, and haven't received my game yet. Hopefully I'll get a two for one :)
|
Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!
There's a specific mission that gives you the lasso, and trains you how to use it.
|
Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!
Also go the GG code emailed to me...hours after I got a shipping confirmation for the new copy that would include the GG code inside. Not sure if I'll bother opening the new one I get mailed to me. Wonder how much the GG code will be worth? Probably only a couple bucks?

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!
Wanted to add that I absolutely LOVE the music in this game! Totally brings back some good memories of old Clint Eastwood cowboy flicks.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!
I really, really wish Rockstar Games would implement a "save anywhere" feature. I can understand not saving during a mission, but I had to reload previous saves multiple times last night after random side missions didn't go the way I wanted them to (my goal is full positive on the Honor scale for the first playthrough). Of course, everything I had done between saving in town and running into those side missions was then gone. I must've saved the whore from her attacker outside the saloon at least 5 times because I later reloaded.
There are too many things happening at once as well, which wouldn't be bad if you could save anywhere. Want to go coyote hunting just in the immediate area outside of Armadillo? Prepare to be interrupted by 5 or 6 different side missions! The way that the side missions sometimes force themselves on you out of nowhere often leaves me confused too. It's over and done before I've had time to get my bearings and figure out what to do. I was out hunting at night and a man ran towards me, screaming for help and dodging bullets. I shot his two pursuers. Oops! They're the law, and he's the bad guy. Extra $150 bounty on my head, significant lost honor. Reload save from 30 minutes ago! It's one of the primary reasons I gave up on GTA IV less than a third of the way into it. Still, the game looks great, the attention to detail is mind-boggling, and it seems like it's going to be a lot of fun. It's just the OCD "do everything, and do it the right way" gamer in me that's getting frustrated. |
Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!
I don't understand the honor system. Some dude tried to steal my horse. I whistled, and my horse threw him. He hopped back on before I could get to him, so I grabbed him and pulled him off my horse. He started shooting at me, so I shot him back. -50 honor for that. WTF? I shot a guy trying to steal my horse. How is that dishonorable?

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!
Then there was when I came up over a ridge and accidentally stampeded a guy. I was just riding around trying to find coyotes to shoot and wound up with a bounty on my head.
|
Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!
Side missions: unlike the main missions, these are intended as "try once" scenarios. I believe the game is deliberately obtuse in making it easy to retry them, by design. I'm not sure, but I would guess that you don't have to do ALL of them to get full honor.

When in the wilderness you can go to your inventory screen, choose the Kit tab, set up a camp, and save on the bedroll in camp. I wish i had known that last night when i replayed 2 hours of game because i screwed up a mission that i didn't want to screw up and reloaded an old save. :( |

You have to stop trying to play the game an all or nothing way...what you just described above sounds absolutely amazing to me....and in real life, I could see how you could fuck up a choice like that...so why not just go with how you played...and once again, I find it freaking cool that you shot two officers in a panic because a guy was running toward you for help...lol...
Reload for me. Next time i will shoot first and ask questions later. ;) |
