Re: Scott Pilgrim: The Video Game

I tried the demo out last night since the game is on sale for 400 pts. I was expecting something awesome seeing how large this thread is, but I was very underwhelmed. Maybe it is because I am not familiar with Scott Pilgrim's story.

I wish everyone dissatisfied with the demo would read this.

There are better beat em ups out there; I think the game is fun, but I don't think there's anything particularly special about it. I still wish there was online coop.

Heh, go figure...the demo actually was what got me to buy the game. I thought it was fine. It gives you a whole stage to work with including shops. River City Ransom was a little underwhelming in the beginning but it built sooooo nicely that by the end it was pure awesomeness. I haven't finished the game (currently going between Fable 3 and NBA 2k11) but I can certainly see that happening here too.

Because most gamers play local coop only.

The other ones I like are for nostalgia sake, like Final Fight or Ninja Turtles Arcade. Something about the simplicity is nice.

Don't get me wrong, Scott Pilgrim is worth the 400 points on sale if you like Beat Em Ups in general, and the 800 points I paid when it came out. Heck, I'll probably get the add on pack too for kicks. The replay value for me is just hurt a lot without online play, so replaying the game over again with each character and having to grind kind of irks me.

I can see that. I still haven't started a second playthrough. I do wish it had on-line co-op.

Re: Scott Pilgrim: The Video Game

I'm just happy they're adding drop-in/drop-out local co-op play with the update. My youngest will make great use of that.

Re: Scott Pilgrim: The Video Game

So the launch of the 360 version of the DLC/patch is officially a debacle. For two weeks after the PS3 launch I gave them the benefit of the doubt because the game itself was a timed exclusive on PS3 for two weeks but the DLC finally became available SEVEN WEEKS after the PS3 launch. Today it's finally made available and you can certainly drop the $2 in points to download the content but nobody knows when we're going to be able to play it because the patch hasn't become available yet and the patch also updates the game to be able to recognize the DLC.

So basically on the 360 we waited 7 weeks to pay for content that is unrecognized by the only version of the game that anyone owns on the 360.

Maybe in another 7 weeks we'll be able to play it.

Re: Scott Pilgrim: The Video Game

I was wondering whatever became of the 360 DLC. I probably would have bought it if it came out around the same time as the Scott Pilgrim Blu-ray, but now i'm over it.

Re: Scott Pilgrim: The Video Game

For all I know I'm the only one on here even interested at this point but there's word on the Gamespot forums that the title update is available to some people. I'm at work so I can't confirm but there seem to be a couple people getting it to work so I doubt it's some huge conspiracy to make people believe in a non-existent title update.

Though then again, this is the forum where people thought there was a conspiracy to make people think "Dani California" and "Black Hole Sun" weren't playable in Rock Band 3.

That's still bullshit since we paid to export them and were told that they would always be available like all the other DLC. For them to be able to renege on that means that nothing we've bought is safe.

Re: Scott Pilgrim: The Video Game

Oh, and on topic, Microsoft has had a horrible track record the last few months of supporting the smaller titles with updates in a timely fashion. Whether that's approving title updates for distribution (as in this case) or updating the server-side achievement information so players could actually get the achievements (which, as you might recall is a core concept of XBL). Off the top of my head, the following titles have had issues:

Things on Wheels
Snoopy Flying Ace
Comic Jumper
Scott Pilgrim (may be cleared up now)
Magic the Gathering with the previous update
Magic the Gathering with the current update (may also be cleared up now)

Re: Scott Pilgrim: The Video Game

Another problem: the new achievements aren't showing up online yet so if you get them you'll have to do an account recovery and unlock them again after this has been corrected for them to show up online.

M:tG was fixed last night. They're going quicker, at least.
