Re: Just Cause 2
I wish this game sold a little better...Avalanche Studios deserves a big hit on their hand, but it has sold about half a million world wide in its first two weeks..should be twice that.

Re: Just Cause 2
This game is sadly not going to sell as well as some other franchises did, which is a huge shame. Hopefully it doesn't deter them from making another one.

Re: Just Cause 2
From Joystiq:
Just Cause 2 gets free 'pimped-up' ice cream truck DLC by Griffin McElroy { 28 minutes ago } http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.c...cecream580.jpg Since it's universally accepted that Just Cause 2 is completely butt-crazy-gonzo, we weren't really surprised by today's release of a free, downloadable, "pimped-up" (according to the Xbox Live listing) ice cream truck for all platforms of the game. The "Chevalier Ice Breaker" features ultra low suspension (for those hairpin mountainous curves), front-mounted bull bars (for the ramming of things) and, presumably, more ice cream sandwiches than you could shake a Popsicle stick at. Xbox.com: Add Chevalier Ice Breaker to your Xbox 360 download queue Also available via PlayStation Store later today and for PC. |

Re: Just Cause 2
I played the demo again last night and I did something totally different. I dont know how but I actually flew in the air attached to a barrell, it blew up and I coasted to some town, got into some car with a turret, I guess these guys are on my side? I shot everyone I saw, got blown up near a base, than I stole a chopper, got blown up, landed by a gattling gun and went to town till the demo ended. Holy shit that was awesome...

Re: Just Cause 2
I'm struggling with the controls while in a helicopter. I need to get out of the helicopter and over to a bridge... how do I do that? It seems every time I try to use the grappling hook, Rico jumps out and free falls toward the earth.
PS -- I'm early on in the game and at the 2nd mission where you need to rescue some guy getting attacked in a skywalk at the casino. |
Re: Just Cause 2
slow down by hitting your chute (a) and steer close enough to grapple to the opening on the bridge. OR if you're feeling risky, you can freefall closer to it and grapple to it while falling.
|
Re: Just Cause 2
or while in the chopper, hit b, to hang from below the chopper, and this will give you a steady shot to hit the part you need to...
|
Re: Just Cause 2
Finally hit 50%.
Getting to 100 seems impossible. |
Re: Just Cause 2
Pimped out ice cream truck. Gotta love that!
The chopper hasn't been a problem for me. Its the damn planes. Damn things are almost impossible to steer with a keyboard, and I almost invariably crash intothe ground. I really wish the steering would re-center itself when you let go of the bottons. Oh, and you knew it had to happen. http://www.justcause2mods.com/ So now I've replaced Rico's skin and am running around as a combat stripper. :) It is a shame it hasn't sold better. To be honest the runaway success of MW2 still puzzles me. |

Re: Just Cause 2
I am at 44% done, about 34 hours...getting close, but once I get to 50 I think I am done. The game is amazing, but it is starting to get to be a bit of a grind now....still the 3rd best game this year behind Mass Effect 2 and Bad Company 2...
|
Re: Just Cause 2
I think I'll finish the game, and try and get 75%. if it's just blowing stuff up and discovering places, it might be worth it.
I'll never do 50 races  |
Re: Just Cause 2
What about finding all the lost items?
|
Re: Just Cause 2
it might be the kind of game that I put in from time to time, to spend an hour finishing up towns and finding items....

Re: Just Cause 2
50% done..took about 36 hours...I am done.
do yourself a favor and pick this game up. I think they went to far with the 100% stuff, but that first 50% was a blast... |
Re: Just Cause 2
I was thinking the other day, if we ever send people on deep space missions where they're up in a ship for an extended period of time, I could totally see this game--set in the beautiful tropics no less--helping them not go stir crazy being in space.

Re: Just Cause 2
Here's one of my zaniest moments so far:
I was in one of those patrol boats with the MG in the front and I crashed head-on into another patrol boat. My boat immediately nose-dived underwater with me in it so I had to exit and swim to the surface. There I hooked and yanked the guy manning the other boat's MG and just as I was about to climb aboard my previously sunken boat popped up out of the water like a cork right in front of me so I jumped back in and sped on my way. |

I was destroying one of those fuel silos or whatever where you have to key in the code and get out before it blows. On my way out, I hear a chopper. I am dodging enemy fire all around, finally get out, and see the whole place explode sending the chopper flying into a building nearby. It was pretty awesome. I did finally finish the game, though. At 60% done now, and have no faction or stronghold missions left. I just got the "complete 100 locations to 100%" achievement, so that was cool. Where do you get the ice cream truck? I downloaded it but I can't find it. |

Re: Just Cause 2
I'm just getting into this game and already liking it quite a bit. I just did my first mission for the Reapers and took over some military base on top of a mountain. I have a couple basic questions before I get knee deep.
When I discover a new location and they are hostile, should I just destroy everything or should I leave some stuff intact? I don't know if later on I'll have men that will take the place over and maybe I'll need the stuff. For instance, I just found this tiny place with a generator and a communications tower. Should I just blow the shit up? Also, if you accidentally kill one of the faction members you are working for, does that faction instantly turn on you? I'm just trying to prevent some possible irreversible mistakes. Thanks |
Re: Just Cause 2
Blow up whatever you want when you want with one caveat -- don't hit 100% on an airport as they seem to stop spawning planes after that.
And feel free to shoot your faction friends as they never fight back and are a good source of weapons and ammo once they're dead. Just don't blast them during a mission as you might need them. |
