They rarely give the bonus on LE/CEs. Very lame on there part. But I only buy 2-3 games a year, so $10 isnt a big thing

If somehow you have some Best Buy GCs lying around you can preorder there. Standard and LE editions give you 150 Rewards points or something that's basically a GC for $10, same as Amazon.

That's what I plan on doing. 500 bonus points for preordering through the games club or whatever they call it, plus as I understand it it'll be 60 toward the 150 needed for $10 from the games club, and 60 towards the 250 needed for the standard $5.

The webisodes are way better than I imagined they would be. I'm impressed.

Yeah, but with California tax being 8.25%, it would be a wash.

Wonder if it has any replayability though.

In order to fully 'get' the whole story (within the story) you need to play on Nightmare difficultly, as some manuscript pages are only in that difficulty. I imagine that gameplay style will change a bit too - you might need to rely on environmental kills or group kills rather than merely firing your gun until it's dead.

Oh, and in other bad news - the screen tearing is back in full force, even with the workaround that I thought was working :(

On the bright side (natch), at least you can see the tears in full HD again.

However, let it be known that the game does not.

Is Nightmare super-hard difficulty? I hate having the struggle for hours to pass one level.

Re: Alan Wake

Isn't the game supposed to scale the difficulty based on how you're doing? If so, what's the point if there's also a difficulty setting?

It is, and I haven't tried it...yet.

Not sure, is it? Where'd you read that info?

I remember hearing that in the spotlight special on the xbox dash. It was said while the narrator was explaining the game.

Goodness, this was a good game. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what happened...but more importantly why I felt a TINY bit underwhelmed at the end.

My 'numerical ranking' I'd give it a $56.99 out of a possible $59.99

Does it seem like the story isn't finished and they're relying on future DLC Episodes to finish the narrative? I mean, does it stand on it's own? We already know the first DLC will be "free" for original purchasers...

It's fully contained. But, there are some unanswered questions that the manuscript helps explain, which promotes a replay on Nightmare difficulty to get/read them all.

Well, you did liken it to a Stephen King story...

What's the play time and replayability? I'm trying to figure out if this game is a day-one purchase or if limited replayibility and linear storytelling will lead to a flood of used copies hitting ebay in a couple of months like a certain other game I'm thinking of.

 good point. I meant to scour the credits for his name, but didn't. There was a line in the dialog that was so direct to King's style that I laughed out loud. This was HEAVILY influenced by King.

The play time was probably around 10-12 hours. No in game timer so it's a rough guess. But approx 2 hours per episode, give or take. Replay will likely be twice for people who want the whole story - which I would imagine once you play it you'll see why you want to do it again. Oh, and 550 acheevo points for a basic play through, didn't get all the collector's achievements...I was close on a couple things.

Anyone know what's going on with Bright Falls? The only info on release dates I could find is a press release on the official xbox site, saying the first two would be 4/25 and one would follow each week. Did I miss something about the next one being delayed?

I think the third one is out now.

edit: Yup.

Sweet. I'd just been checking on the marketplace, thinking they'd put them up everywhere at once.
