Well that sucks. Seeing as how I'm more interested in Insomniac and Nimrod than in the albums they chose to include, so I was holding out hope for DLC. The very reason I don't like their album choices for the game is the very reason why they chose them: they're concept albums (the last two, anyway), and I sure as heck don't want to sit there and play through a whole album in one sitting. I'm sure some others might, but to me, the appeal of the bulk of Green Day's body of work is that they wrote great bite-sized pop nuggets. And Insomniac and Nimrod are chock full of those.

I think they just meant no DLC for the Green Day game, right? Not that they would never do any other Green Day DLC at all. That would kind of limit them when GD's next album comes out.

Re: Rock Band Thread - This thread was made for Rockin, and that's just what it'll do

Yeah, there's nothing there that says there won't be any more GD DLC, just that there won't be any for GD:RB proper. They could keep releasing track packs of the remaining GD songs for RB/2/3--which is probably where a lot of (if not most) people will eventually be playing all the GD stuff, anyway.

I know for me, if it's a song I like, I could give a crap about who the avatar playing it is or if it matches up with whatever else is going on in the background--I just wanna play the song.

I think it hurts the chances of any future GD DLC significantly. I won't be expecting anything else.

I'll get GD:RB when it hits $19.99, and I think that will be within 3 mos. of release.

Seeing that The Beatles released their entire catalog in the amount of time that elapsed between American Idiot and 20th Century Breakdown, I wouldn't have been holding my breath for new Green Day stuff anyways.

Not that that has anything to do with Harmonix and DLC. There are still plenty of songs that have been recorded that could be made into DLC. No one is holding out for the next album in 2014 or anything done by Foxboro Hot Tubs.

Who's forcing you to "sit there and play through a whole album in one sitting"? Just play the songs you want, concept album or not. Big fucking deal.

Yeah, I hate when I have the urge to play Vital Signs then realize I have to play 35 minutes filler before getting to it. What a PIA.

No one's forcing me to, though I'd be willing to bet that the play experience is going to reflect that whole "concept album" approach. My big complaint is that THEY weren't willing to cut those albums into pieces, and because of that, they ignored some of the band's best stuff from other albums. I would much rather play tracks from Insomniac and Nimrod, because they're more like traditional pop/rock songs. If I had a choice between playing the nine-minute "Jesus of Suburbia" or playing "Worry Rock," "Uptight," "The Grouch" and "King for a Day," I'd take the latter. And I love "Jesus of Suburbia," but that's not how I enjoy playing Rock Band.

Rumored achievement list for GD:RB: http://rockbandaide.com/green-day-ro...-leaked-rumor/

Seem legit to me and pretty reasonable.

Not news, but I've been listening to Kevin Pollak's Chat Show podcast and caught one with Weird Al. The question about Rock Band inclusion came up and he said he hasn't been approached*. He equated it to being on Letterman in that you don't call Letterman and ask to be on the show, you wait until they approach you.

Disappointing, but I thought it was an interesting comparison. You would think the artists/managers seek out Rock Band at this point.

*interview was on 10/30/09, long before RBN.

Re: Rock Band Thread - This thread was made for Rockin, and that's just what it'll do

It is disappointing. You know, I'm not ashamed to admit that I would buy a full Weird Al title. The recreations of his live show would be epic and quite varied since each direct-parody and style-parody has a unique outfit and far more interesting that Green Day's choreographed digital pyrotechnics. Speaking of which, I can't wait to see Al in July again!

I agree it is also disappointing. The truth is I would probably buy a full Weird Al RB game as well if done properly. I already annoy my wife by singing over certain songs with Weird Al lyrics....I might as well do it for points and achievements :)

John D. From Harmonix Answers Your Questions
  • Can we expect Muse as DLC in Rock Band, and if so, when? And what are the chances of a Muse: Rock Band?
  • Will existing DLC, RB1, RB2, LEGO, AC/DC, and Green Day tracks be available in Rock Band 3? What about the Beatles tracks?
  • When can we expect the RBN on the PS3?
  • When can we expect more Beatles DLC?
  • How about Snoop Dogg?
  • Any summer promotions planned, like the Pepsi one last year?
  • How is music selected for Rock Band DLC?

Damn Harmonix and their announcing ways. It doesn't look like Pearl Jam:Live or Snoop Dogg is coming anytime soon.

I don't even want to think about the acts I would perform in order to get a dedicated Rock Band: Muse. Fuck...I'd probably even do most of it for a 3 pack!

DLC for the week of 4/20 (I'm guessing Snoop, Willie, and The Dead):

Hey gang,

Next week brings you a 3 pack from Coheed and Cambria, the first pack from one of the most requested band on the forums! The past singles have always been a big hit so hopefully you dig these three tracks from their new album. Also joining us will be the first track from The Violent Femmes in the RB library, another track for the female vocalists from Siouxsie & The Banshees and the first Supergrass track in RB proper (their last was only available in Lego Rock Band)! Enjoy!

Available on Xbox 360 and Wii (April 20) and PlayStation 3 system (April 22):

Coheed and Cambria – “Guns of Summer” +
Coheed and Cambria – “Here We Are Juggernaut”
Coheed and Cambria – “The Broken” +

Siouxsie & The Banshees – “Peek-a-Boo”

Supergrass – “Sun Hits the Sky” +

The Violent Femmes – “American Music”

(All tracks are original master recordings)

These tracks will be available for purchase as “Coheed and Cambria Pack 01,” as well as individual tracks on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 system, and as individual tracks only on Wii. Tracks marked with “+” are also available for download in the family-friendly LEGO® Rock Band Music Store.

Price:

$1.99 USD, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU (160 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360) per track

$5.49, £2.49 UK, €3.99 EU (440 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360) for “Coheed and Cambria Pack 01”

Agreed. Though I'd have liked to see a bigger pack.
