I'll withhold final judgment until I hear the Symphony versions, but I'm thinking the original versions might've been a better choice.

The list is exactly what I expected. King for a Day and J.A.R. would be great additions, but there's not really anything missing and there's not any fluff being that they always intended this to contain the 3 most popular, mainstream albums.

Hmm, while pretty awesome - the non-symphony version is likely better.

I thought there was supposed to be 47 new tunes in the game, not counting the 6 already available as DLC (mainly because of the line about how all 47 tracks are exportable. Those 6 technically aren't exportable to RB2, they're already there, they're IMportable to GD:RB)

Did you not count? There are 47 on that list, not counting the 6 already as DLC (which are not actually listed).

Yeah, I found that and the other song on YouTube. Great to listen to, but I'd rather play the originals on Rock Band. I don't think the symphonic versions fit Rock Band as well.

I did count, but I didn't look closely at the track list for 21st Century Breakdown. It looked like a full album just looking at the number of tracks, and I don't actually own the album, and I saw Viva La Gloria on the list, and I didn't realize there were 2 tracks by that name on the album.

My bad.

This would be pretty fucked to play...and to try and chart. But could be good for RB3 with the vocal harmonies.

I agree. Considering how many great songs they left off the The Beatles Rock Band, for Green Day this is quite amazing.

I had a "dream" that Serj was fronting Green Day. Didn't do much for me, but the Courtney Love tribute album was amazing. Shame she couldn't get the help she needed and took herself out like that.

I wish The Living End would put some songs in Rock Band. I saw them open for Green Day once.

That's great news, glad it didn't end up being the symphony versions.

I'm considering pre-ordering RB : Green Day from Game Stop, using the free token and the individual authorization code right away and selling it to Amazon on release date to maximize my trade-in value -- I figure it'll be worth more there than the flooded ebay market right away.. Does that seem like a good idea?

I'm just curious if the game even needs to be opened to redeem the import code. If not, just return it, lol.

It'll probably be just like LEGO, where you needed to go into the game to actually get to the download link, but then it just downloaded it from the Marketplace/PSN, rather than actually ripping from the disc like RB1.

Yeah, that's what I'm assuming. I thought by buying it, opening it, using the import code and free transfer token and then selling it as a mint condition used game, I'm doing nothing illegal or sketchy. By selling it on the first day (or at least locking in the first day trade-in price), I can get the most value, still play all those songs and only be out maybe $20-25 overall I assume. I won't be able to play as Green Day, but I can live with that and besides, soon I'd anticipate that there will be millions of copies for sale after everyone uses their own import code and went back to RB2 -- that's what happened with Lego Rock Band.

No more DLC for Green Day: Rock Band via 1UP

That's something that's not really practical to do open-ended. So we decided we were going to make DLC just about finishing 21st Century Breakdown, using the DLC that was already out.

That created a great three-album game, and also let us give each of those [six DLC tracks] unique assets, more than we could easily pack into a DLC pack. Those songs have their own video-wall assets, their own [motion capture]."

the place to play Green Day, rather than trying to mush everything together and give you access to everything — but then you have a shitty experience, like Billie Joe singing Lady Gaga. Which, as awesome as that would be, is really not what we’re going for. Let someone else do that.
