Now you have Mass Effect 2, Heavy Rain, God of War 3, Final Fantasy XIII, Bad Company 2, Dragon Age Origins: Awakenings, Splinter Cell: Conviction, and Red Dead Redemption coming out all in a three and a half month span. but this years version of the show i havent been able to get into bc of the glitches..maybe once the season begins, ill be able to get into it more... |
Re: MLB '10: The Show (PS3, PS2, PSP) - March 2nd
More retarded manager syndrome:
The baserunning red light again. I go on a huge Ruthian tear (20 RBI, 4 HR) in three games, and just because the computer steals a base for me, I get benched. Then I am told I am not only benched the next game, but lost my starting job because the other guy is "swinging a hot bat." Finally, to rub salt in the wound, I go 0-4 in the next game I play, and the manager says I haven't been knocking in runs lately. What? |
Re: MLB '10: The Show (PS3, PS2, PSP) - March 2nd
Stupid stuff here too.
After the 10th game of my hitting streak, one where I've got 3 hits, I'm told I'm not getting on base enough and I get moved from 3rd to 9th in the order. |

Sounds like RTTS is a bit messed up with logic...how about Franchise, anyone start one yet?

Re: MLB '10: The Show (PS3, PS2, PSP) - March 2nd
A lot of this stuff was there last year as well. I don't mind for the most part, some of the stuff that happens is so ridiculous that you can't do anything but laugh. Case in point from yesterday: man on second, I'm asked to advance the runner to third. I lay down a perfect bunt down the third base line, properly forcing the third baseman to make a play on the ball. The runner at second retreats back to second, despite no one covering third. I'm out and first and get negative points for "failing". So I'm ticked off, but then the announcers jump all over the guy for not going to third and the game shows the third base coach repeatedly pointing at third base like "wtf?!" - I busted out laughing at that.

Re: MLB '10: The Show (PS3, PS2, PSP) - March 2nd
I had to laugh when as a pitcher it told me to get a ground out with the bases loaded, and I let in a sac fly all the way to the wall and it gave me 10 points for a "positive result"
|
Re: MLB '10: The Show (PS3, PS2, PSP) - March 2nd
I think the positive results are supposed to be if you don't technically meet the goal, but you do something good anyway. So it seems that the game worked correctly in that instance.
I had a funny thing happen. There was a runner on first and I was on third. The guy on first decides to steal second, and I thought maybe the ball had gotten away, so I took off for home. The throw beats me easily - I was probably 12 feet away from the plate. But, the catcher just stands there as if he doesn't know I'm coming, and I'm safe. |

I started one and have had few problems. I think that I will avoid RTTS as it just wasn't very much fun last year. I would rather play with the players I know that try to create some guy and work him through the system with all of the headaches and no paycheck but that is just me.

Re: MLB '10: The Show (PS3, PS2, PSP) - March 2nd
Ok now the game freezes every time it transitions from the batting practice in RTTS. It does it if you press select to skip it or if you swing all ten times. This is ridiculous.

Something similar happened to me last year after suggesting a batting session. I had to fall back to a previous save. :(

I turned batting practice off.

Wow, I'm kind of glad I haven't received my copy yet. More time for you guys to finish beta testing it

Re: MLB '10: The Show (PS3, PS2, PSP) - March 2nd
Yeah, I was all excited to purchase the game this weekend. Now, I don't know :(.

Re: MLB '10: The Show (PS3, PS2, PSP) - March 2nd
I've had the batting practice thing freeze twice, both times when I quickly tried to skip past the animation where you walk out of the batting cage (after you hit "select" to exit). Now I just let the animation run for 2-3 seconds before hitting "X" and have not had any more issues.
Honestly, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend picking it up. We're largely picking nits here, and a lot of the RTTS "bugs" we've discussed are more like quirks due to the AI not possibly being able to perfectly handle EVERY situation that could happen in a game. The main franchise bug in the game seems to revolve around player progression/potential ratings and is being patched shortly. The game still rocks and blows away 99.9% of sports games available these days. |
Re: MLB '10: The Show (PS3, PS2, PSP) - March 2nd
I turned off the batting practice option in the menu and never had a problem since. I agree with the RTTS bugs. When there is so much subjective strategy involved in these situations it's near impossible to get it right. I applaud how close they got though.

Re: MLB '10: The Show (PS3, PS2, PSP) - March 2nd
This may be a dumb question, but with a RTTS pitcher, does increasing your velocity on your changeup speed it up or slow it down? Wouldn't you want a fairly slow changeup?
|
Re: MLB '10: The Show (PS3, PS2, PSP) - March 2nd
I've actually had some "almost" freezes happen during this year's batting practice before each game. From time to time the video will freeze for a second right before the pitcher's release. The audio goes on so it's almost like a bunch of dropped frames.

Re: MLB '10: The Show (PS3, PS2, PSP) - March 2nd
Damn, the Nationals don't have the Expos throwback uniforms in this years version.
If it's not a big deal I will change my team that I use for our league. One thing I don't like is how it is so hard to see where the ball goes in HR Derby, and when it is a long shot that is going to leave the stadium it doesn't show you where the ball lands the camera just stays at the base of the fence. I wanna see the ball go out on the street! I wish they had the old Tiger Stadium in the game. |

Word. I pretty much grew up on obstructed-view seating in that stadium. :tear:
It's almost blasphemy that they excluded it from the dlc. |
