I was hoping for a variation on the previous title "Resolutions are made to be broken" by changing it to "PS3s are made to be broken on 3/1/10".

Now I'm curious. Last night, the fiancee wanted to watch Pineapple Express, but the blu-ray kept doing the loading screen, rebooting, doing the loading screen, rebooting, etc. I looked up online and there are quite a few complaints about this particular blu-ray not playing on players connected to the internet due to some issue with some bd-live content. So I disconnected by PS3 from my router, tried again and it booted right up. I'm wondering if it was just this SNAFU or if there really is an issue with some previously available bd-live content screwing up players that try to run Pineapple Express. If the latter, that's a pretty lousy issue.

Well it seemed to be back... it came up and I was able to sync the time and start Heavy Rain. However, I don't know if it is related but at one time during the game when it was awarding me a couple of trophies it got REALLY SLOW and right now it seems to be locked up on me entirely. I was able to eject the disk which reset the machine so we'll see...

the Heavy Rain discs have their own issues (freezing, audio cut outs, lock ups, etc)

That Hitler video sums up my feelings of Sony over the past week and today. First they "replace" my optical block in my functioning RPTV to have it completely fail 3 hours later and I'm still waiting for them to come and fix it. Then two days later I get the YLOD again, 2 times in less than 12 months, on my other 60gb PS3 after just over two years of use. Then Sony doesn't want to be the least bit helpful for the repair except for asking for 150 bucks. They can kiss my ass right now.

Well my PS3 is working again except that I still don't have my Caprica episode. I checked again just now and the episode in question (Episode 6: There Is Another Sky) appears with a red shopping bag icon. So it's clearly been purchased. However, I have no pending download on my PS3. Also, when I try to download the episode again, the button to download does not appear. All that is available is the button to view a 30 second preview. :mad2:

Well, I was back up and running last night, but when I popped in Rock Band 2, it had to install trophies before I could play the game. When I checked my trophies, I had 0% for RB2. Backed out completely to the XMB and re-synced my trophies and everything was ok. Weird. I guess RB2 must have been what I was playing when everything went to hell.

Here is the real reason for the PS3 problems:

The massive earthquake that struck Chile on Saturday may have shifted Earth's axis and created shorter days, scientists at NASA say.

I thought you were going to say that it was because the main PSN servers are based in Chile, which would explain the slow download times I've always experienced.

It's funny, I was out of town all weekend and didn't know about this issue at all until a friend at work asked me this morning if my PS3 was fine. On my 40GB Phatty I played Monday and Tuesday evenings with no issues at all.

So I added Flow to my queue when it was free earlier last month. Well it just came up to download today and an error code came up saying it couldn't download. So I tried to redownload and now it wants to charge me. Does this sound right?

Yes...it was downloadable one day only and doesn't show up in your download history...so it's not re-downloadable or downloadable for free after that day.

Sorry.

What do you mean "it just came up to download today?" Does that mean you resumed the previously started download, or were you able to make an auto queue somewhere like on the xbox? Just curious.

Ya, you can queue a bunch of things to download and let them download in the background. At the time it was 4 or 5 down on the list. And I don't have my PS3 on a lot so it just now came up to download next. I e mailed Sony so I guess I'll wait and see what they say.

Is it worth it to get a NYKO Intercooler TS for my 60GB PS3?

fujishig 03-03-10 04:07 PM

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Software bugs? We don't need no software bugs

Aren't all those intercoolers worthless, and/or maybe even bad for your system, since it changes the flow of air? Or did they improve their design or something?

Hope they have a positive response for you, but I wouldn't get your hopes up. Next time you should try the auto-download/install/turn off system thing.

I dunno about the airflow change but I read only the older models had the incidiery issues so I thought I'd ask for opinions. Given I live in a tropical island and don't have an AC.
