Hey Chibul, yeah you! Remember that note you sent out on Xbox Live telling me to reply back on how i know you or you'll delete me? Well guess what!? I deleted you! Yeah, that's right - call it a pre-emptive strike on your smugness! SUCK IT!

I think I'm just going to have to go through there and run a 3-stage filter: 1) Do I know this person in the real world? 2) Do I actively socialize with this person in some fashion? 3) Have I played a game with this person in the last year? If I do that, I think I could probably drop those 98 to 12  |

Easily a dozen tops for me too. Take out the vegans, and I'm down to 10.

I've got around 88 people on my friends list. Only 10 or so are people I know in the physical sense. I'd rather play with random DVD Talkers than the rest of the world so that's why I keep you guys on my list.

I've got a question about the xbox wireless headsets. Can you have four people signed in with wireless controllers and use four wireless headsets as well?

re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Shouldn't be a problem.

New dashboard preview time!
http://connect.microsoft.com/xboxliveupdate Prepare for frequent update bitching  Of note: We are conducting an open call for US based participants* for a public preview to help us prepare for an updated Xbox 360 disc format. Should you be selected, we will need to ship pre-release materials to you. Please make sure the information you provide is accurate. *Due to disc distribution limitations, this beta it will be limited to residents of the United States only. The program will officially start within the next two weeks, at which time all registrants will receive an e-mail update informing you of your program status. |
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Just applied.
My guess is... USB flash drive? Halo Reach in a flash drive? Or an external blu-ray drive? nah! |

re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
One of these days I'll make a record of my console serial number and ID so that I can fill these things out at work.
|
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
I work from home and get really tired of walking to my bedroom, turn on the Xbox, and write all those numbers.
I put that info in my iPhone, so next time I don't have to do that. I'm a genius! |
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
 I did that last time. Saved me easily 20 seconds. I was way more productive at work because of it.
|
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
 I put them in my iPhone last time as well. Unfortunately I bought the Reach console and is now my primary, so those numbers never made it to my phone. Had to call the wife for the numbers.
Thanks for the link. |
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Yep, I took a picture with my iPhone last time, saved that along with random boobie pics from Mardi Gras.

re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
it won't let me sign up right now. keep getting some kind of weird error.
|
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
weird. now it worked.
|
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Despite having a Windows Live ID it kept asking me to create some new account/user name. What's that about?

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/di...0-disc-upgrade
Looks like the reason the new dashboard beta is disc-based is for an anti-piracy feature that they're employing. Currently, the anti-piracy data on discs is gigantic (in excess of 1GB). The max usable disc space currently is about 6.8GB of an 8GB disc. Freeing up some of that space will give devs an extra GB or so of room to play with. |
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
crap, i forgot to sign up last night.

re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Is it possible to suspend a Xbox Live account? My 360 is boxed up right now, and probably will be for a few months, and it seems a shame the account is still ticking away while I'm not using it.
|
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
I don't think there's a way to do that.
|
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Is it boxed up by your decision or by a fault of Microsoft's hardware?
|
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Question : Looks like I'm getting a new 360 next week at Best Buy for the "man-cave". How do I copy the HDD content from the old one onto the new one without wiping the previous HDD's content? Do I use a 16 GB memory stick? Won't that take ages to do?
|
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
It will take ages, yes. But the only stuff that's really important are game saves and other irreplaceable content. You could always re-download what's available from XBLM.
|
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
I was hoping there would be some sort of USB cable copy system. Pipe dream, I guess.
Would that Official Microsoft transfer cable work or would that wipe the external HDD? |
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
The transfer cable does indeed wipe the source drive.

Hook it up via USB with the transfer cable and you can view it as a giant USB device and then you can copy your shit across without wiping the old one. |
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Is that so? I don't remember that being an option ~3 years ago when I did it. Very nice!

re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Do I need that official cable thingy or will any USB male-to-male transfer cable work as long as I have two working 360s?
BTW : Thanks for the info everyone. I didn't really want to hijack this thread a' la Scott, but there's so much confusing info on this topic on the internet with all the changes to the 360 memory systems over the years, and I appreciate the knowledge. |
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Just don't be surprised when Pinata pops over to your fancy Doctoring forums and starts talking circumcision.

Is there a way of telling if automatic renewal is on or off on your 360 account for XBL? I thought I saw an option before, but I couldn't find it when I just entered my renewal code for my prepaid card.

So the only way to check is by calling now? That sucks.

Long story short, I'm wondering if I'm justified in asking them for some kind of compensation for my month's worth of useless Gold membership, or at least the $10 it originally cost to ship the thing back to them. |

I'll take this and run with it - what if it is a fault of Microsoft's in-warranty hardware? I shipped off my broken power supply on March 7 and still don't have a new one. After more than 2 weeks of apparently not having any in stock -- yes, that's correct, Microsoft was out of power cables for 2+ weeks with no way of obtaining more -- they shipped a replacement. It was finally delivered this Monday, yay! Except it was delivered to my old address, despite my double and triple efforts to notify them to NOT send it there, so someone else has it now. The case has been in a state of "escalated" for the past 2 days, and I'm awaiting an urgent phone call from a Senior Cords and Bricks Specialist (I made that title up).
