I guess they're getting good at it. The customer service rep I spoke to didn't seem surprised when I called.

re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines

I went through this thread and realized that I use and old email account for my Live account, so I would have never known if there was fraud or not. So I went into that email account and it looks like the coast is clear.

The only CC I have tied to Live is long expired and I don't have many points in there anyway, but I was still a bit worried.

Sucks for those of you who have to have their Live accounts shut down though.

Already mentioned in the Xbox Live deals thread, but it's rumored that Microsoft will be discontinuing use of its Microsoft Points currency system used by Xbox Live, Zune marketplace, and the Windows phone.

I am fine with that so long as I can still buy pre-paid cards in stores. I refuse to give MS or Sony my cc info.

I'm pretty sure you can go to xbox.com and use paypal to add points to your account.

Just checked, yes you can. Definitely better than having to go to the store for points and they won't have any payment info on file.

when you add your paypal account to Microsoft...correct me if I am wrong...but like facebook you are adding your payapal account as if it was a credit card...and any future purchases from your xbox no longer requires a separate paypal log in...if your account is hacked...as so many are...you still run the risk of having money taken from you and waiting to get a refund...

maybe that is only the case though if you add your paypal along with the family gold like I did...I have never tried using paypal as a one time purchase for points on xbox.com....

You are correct, your paypal account becomes linked to your Xbox account and doesn't require a separate login.

They'll most likely keep gift cards, just with dollar amounts instead of points. PSN already has gift cards in $. Keep in mind that a lot of video game players are kids, who don't have credit cards, and not all parents are going to be setting up Gold Family accounts.

I'm considering temporarily lifting my self-imposed ban on buying avatar items after seeing this sick-ass new Threadless shirt today:

I own this shirt in real life so I kind of have to buy this, right?

No one will fault you for that. Do it now before it's an actual dollar!

Have you not been taking your monthly http://rewards.xbox.com surveys?

Then the code keeps coming back with "An error has occurred during the transaction. Please try again later."

I looked at my 5/26/2014 expiration and did the math and thought it must be 36ish months. What a terrible return message for that problem. AND I get punished by not being able to get the monthly reward because I give them too much money already
Well, based on my previous post, I just logged into the rewards site and I see that I have a pending credit for 400 points for the XBL renewal so, even though I never redeemed the code, I got credit for it somehow. Guess I'll be happy about that

When that disburses "by the 15th of next month", I'll have earned 1,220 points to date

Oh, I have, but only 60 pending points in the account at the moment. Two more months, and that sweet digital t-shirt will be mine.

Oooh! I own the same shirt and this is the first time I've been tempted to buy an avatar clothing item (especially since they've completely negated any reason to get a prop with the new dash).
