One thing I've noticed since the dash update is that now your avatar items are only visable when you actually select an avatar on the Social tab to view. It used to be that your avatar would break out his item when you had him displayed and your Friends would have theirs when you scroll past them, but now it's only if you highlight your avatar, or a Friend's and pull up his or her information. A little thing to complain about, sure, but I still think that sucks.

I think that's actually a big reason to complain. It seems so counter to what they want to do. Props bring in money so why wouldn't they want to show them? It makes no sense.

I think paying actual money for avatar items is silly, but seriously considered getting the Charlie Brown tree a few weeks ago. After seeing how props were integrated into the new dashboard (or rather, weren't integrated), I decided to pass. MS lost an easy few bucks from me.

Developers should be complaining too. I only use rewards from games, but those work as advertisements for the games they come from. Everyone loses.

Is there someone to call or complain about these things? I don't know if anything would get done, but at least they should know we're not happy.
This new dash screwed so much up, it's like they were willing to screw up almost every aspect of the previous dash for the sole purpose of complete Kinect integration. It's really annoying.

I wish there was some place I could call and complain and feel like my voice was heard. With new management in control at Microsoft when it comes to the xbox...and the push for kinect...I am afraid these problems are low on the list...

I just wish I knew if sales of games...videos...dlc...are down or not per user...I read on the indie forums that some games were devastated by the new dash...which is to be expected because it is so hidden...but the bigger games actually saw a bump...which might have more to do with Christmas...and the fact that those games actually get space at times on the dash...

re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines

also...I noticed that when it comes to dlc for games...my list of new content is not updated properly...anyone else get this? The first game listed is dlc for Saints Row the Third...and after that some Rock Band shit...the thing is these are the same first few choices for the last 2 months...after that...about 7 slides in...the actual new content starts...

and while I am complaining...since it is so fun...does anyone else wish they could edit the dlc so that ANY rockband/music dlc is hidden??? Not attacking those games because they are brilliant..and cash cows...but for someone who does not play them...they sure take up a lot of space...

re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines

I want to know who I complain to about the ludicrously slow load times when loading my library of games.

I want to know who I complain to about having to constantly download game updates, even if all I do is switch back and forth from Pinball (4mb) to Bastion (2mb). EVERY SINGLE TIME!

Don't tell me to clear my cache anymore, this is absurd. If you must have a finite space for game updates, how about you let me decide how much of my hard drive to allocate? Out of my 250 (or 243, whatever) gbs, I'd be fine shedding 1 or 2 for that purpose alone. At the sizes they are, that'd last a good, long while I'd estimate.

I had a vague memory of finally being able to see game updates and delete them from the hard drive. Does anyone else remember that because I can't find it now...

re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines

From what I read, game updates over 10MB are now stored on the hard drive. Anything under still gets shuffled through that "7 current games" internal storage b.s..

So yeah, I've actually been annoyed with this lately as well. Does MS charge by the MB to publishers? They should all just pad their updates to be 10MB so we don't have to deal with constant re-updates.

Just another reason to look forward to next-gen.

Clearly not a FIFO cycle, more of a LIFO which makes no sense at all.

Maybe it's based on game usage, like it keeps the updates for title's you've played a lot, while dumping updates for titles with less play time. This would mean that if you have two really recent games, it might juggle between dropping them.

You could try clearing your system cache, which may be full of updates for games you don't play anymore, or other temporary files you no longer need:

I can't imagine playing a game any more frequently than I play pinball!

My point is that space is not at a premium, I don't understand why updates are fighting for space in the first place or why the two games I actively play are erasing each other and not the stuff I haven't played since 2007.

Send something to Major Nelson via Twitter. He'll probably respond. It probably still won't be fixed in a future release, but it might make you feel a little better.

Edit: You might want to wait until CES is over, in case that is distracting him too much.

NewsCorp just announced today at CES they are providing some Video Apps to XBox Live.

FOX Broadcasting will have an app, along with FOX News and The Wall Street Journal.

Yeah, I'm sure a lot of Xbox users are interested in that.
