Re: Does anyone get frustrated with certain games genres?
There's a few I don't like. I can't get into really long RPGs. I can get into something like a Fable II, but games like Final Fantasy don't do it for me.
Love arcadey racers, can't stand sims.
I actually don't like games that are TOO open world. The Bethesda games like Oblivion or Fallout 3 are fun but it's almost like paralysis by freedom to me. There's just so much you can do that I don't feel motivated to start it.

I agree with you 100% here. I used to love sports games (Tecmo Bowl, Blades of Steel, Joe Montana Sports Talk, NBA Jam...etc) back in the 8 and 16 bit days, but the general move to simulation has killed that genre for me. Even the "arcadey" sports games seem to have lost a lot of flare for me. The last sports game I was able to really get into was NBA Street Vol. 2.
+1 to the sports genre. Really enjoyed 8 & 16 bit sports games and even some Quarterback Club and Waelai Golf on the N64. They have gotten WAY too sim heavy and over rely on complicated controls and knowledge of the sport itself. It seems these days you need an advance degree in playmaking to even navigate the plays in Madden. The most recent sports games I enjoyed were Top Spin on the original Xbox and Virtua Tennis 3.
What I find interesting is that sports games have lost so many sales over the years for this reason, would sales increase if they went simpler? At this point for me, I think they've lost me for good. It's been so many years since I was into that genre that I don't think I could return. That and sports game's prices plummet faster than a new car driven off the lot. Seems like a waste of money to me.
Flight sims(?). I used to love me some X-Wing/TIE Fighter and Wing Commander but like sports, I'm so far removed from that genre anymore that it would take quite a bit for me to consider returning to it.
Also never liked Racing Sims. Arcade racing is the way to go. Burnout was the Gold Standard for arcade racing, but that's

So looking at my list it boils down to 'sims.'
