Not the LE, no way I can justify the $10K it's going for at this point.

So far, I think it's amazing. Some great flow, and very satisfying shots. I've yet to get a complete grasp on the rules and how to score well, but it's a lot of fun so far. There seems to be a ton of strategy when it comes to scoring well. I wasn't completely hooked on it when I played it over someones house for an hour or so, but a friend was selling one for a price I couldn't refuse. Now that I've put an additional 2-3 hours on it, I'm really starting to dig it. There's also a ton of really cool mods out for it. Check out Eli's Ramp mod, which emulates the LE ramp lighting with EL wire, but it does even more. The replacement mini Tron Arcade cab that replaces the stock one is pretty sweet too, has an OLED screen that plays the attract mode of Tron arcade in a loop.

Between Tron, X-Men, and hopefully Metallica, Borg has really been firing on all cylinders lately. X-Men is so underrated at this point. Tons of shots, many of them pretty difficult, magnets (!!!), lots of modes, it's just a very awesome game.

My brother has X-Men, Last Action Hero, Mousin' Around, and Lasercue. Every time I visit him I play at least a couple of games of X-Men and Last Action Hero. The X-Men game is chock full of surprises.

Where do you get the mods (tron cabinet and wiring type stuff) and how easy are they to install?

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

There are a few people that make the Tron mini-arcade mod (or you can do it yourself), You can find more info on pinside.com about it and Eli's ramp mod. Just brace yourself, they aren't cheap.

A few things I found today, Pinball FX on Steam now includes Sorcerer's Lair for free,

and Farsight has started their kickstarter for Terminator 2

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

Looks like Farsight is going to need some help/luck to make the T2 goal on Kickstarter, so I (semi-)reluctantly kicked in this time. They posted on Facebook :

We're a week into our Terminator 2 Kickstarter campaign and we're already nearly 25% of the way to making the goal! Thank you everyone for your generosity!

We've been getting questions about why we chose to do the Terminator 2 table next (instead of the Addams Family table, or something else). Aside from the fact that T2 is an awesome table, we have a unique opportunity with T2. The licenses we need for Terminator 2 are NOT easy to get. We can acquire them but it must be done NOW. We can't go into detail about the particulars but if we don't act soon the opportunity will be lost, and it might be quite some time (if ever!) before we'd be able to put this together again.

We've updated the Kickstarter page with a bunch of FAQ's to answer questions that have come in from our fans. Please check it out by following the link below and pledge if you haven't already. And please re-post if you believe in our cause- we're trying to bring pinball to the masses, but we can't do it without you!

Thanks again everyone for your support!
That whole "Pinball to the masses" appeal continues to annoy me. This isn't charity work. Still, if it's our last chance to get the much-admired T2 table on digital platforms, it's worth doing, IMO.

BTW : It looks like TPA will be coming to the PS4. I'm assuming that it'll remain a cross-purchase title, so we'll get upgraded graphics for no additional cost :fc: That's not based on anything other than the knowledge that they already do that with PS3/Vita and it would be pretty confusing to start charging to re-purchase titles (though I guess they could charge an upgrade fee like they do with the useless "Pro Versions", I suppose.

<iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/e1tW_MlFCRs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

edit : Checking Google, this won't be a cross-buy title after all. Sucks.

– As I’ve mentioned, I reached out to FarSight Studios and finally received confirmation from Mike Lindsey that the PS4 version will NOT be free to those who have already purchased the base game and any of the DLC table packs on PS3 or Vita. Maybe this is because of PS Plus recently giving the game away, maybe it’s because of how labor intensive working on a the PS4 version has been.

Here’s a quote from Mike Lindsey in response to this post and my cry for the truth:

Farsight decided against cross-buy because of the amount of work that goes into the PS4 tables. The build we sent to E3 took a considerable amount of time from the developers and the art department and still was not enhanced to the full extent.

Yet another reason why I'll just be waiting patiently for the PC version to be released.

I got my Metallica LE the other day, no pictures yet, but it's an awesome game. It'll be even better once the code is in a more finished state.

edit: I lied, here's a pic:

They did say in a recent update that they're looking to try and negotiate so that you get a discount on tables you own on the PS3 if you upgrade to the PS4.

It was kind of a stealthy release, but Pinball Arcade has Season Two pass available for purchase now in the PSN Store for PS3 & Vita. Ten releases starting with Dr. Dude & Firepower (which I already bought, unfortunately -- I've been holding off on the rest) for $29.99. Better than waiting until they're all out before releasing the discounted set.
Terminator 2 will be part of S2 assuming they get the Kickstarter funded. They're about $15K short with a week to go. Wonder if they'll make it. I think they might be going to the well a little too often and jerking around their most loyal customers. (BTW : If you own S2, they'll give you any other table, past or future, if you fund this table in KS)

Did the Season One pass ever go on sale?

Decker 07-13-13 01:09 PM

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

On sale as in cheaper than its regular price of $29.99? No. But remember, it only came out like a month ago and it's still a savings of $20 over the price some idiots (i.e. me) paid for all of the tables individually.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

The Pinball Arcade Is Now Delisted from XBLA
Suffers same ill-fate as DLC in publisher bankruptcy saga

Over the past few months, much has been said about the ongoing saga of the availability (or lack thereof) of tables for The Pinball Arcade following the bankruptcy of the game's publisher, Crave Entertainment. Plenty of indecision has occured over that period, but FarSight Studios unveiled a new DLC table just last month and then promptly confirmed that more tables would follow. Unfortunately, the good news did not last long as the DLC was then delisted!

Today, it appears that the main game has also suffered the same fate as the DLC, as it too is no longer available for download on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace. As yet, FarSight Studios has not provided an explanation for The Pinball Arcade being dropped.

It would not be a surprise if the circumstances change again soon, so stay tuned to the TA front page for the latest updates on the title.

I'm not buying any more tables until I get the PS4. It's a shame they never could get it going on the 360 but that at least saved me a bunch of money.

Can't you play the tables you buy on the PS3 on the Vita as well? Hopefully the same goes for the PS4.

Is there something different between the 360 and the PS3?

Decker 07-18-13 04:22 PM

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

PS3 allows for self-publishing of PSN games. For whatever reason, MS won't allow studios to self-publish XBLA games (only Indie games). So even though The Pinball Arcade is the exact same game on both systems, it's readily available on the PS3 with nearly 30 tables available for purchase, yet it's been delisted from Xbox Marketplace since their chosen publisher (Crave) went belly-up.
Those who bought it on the 360 got screwed because they can't get more tables for it. I probably would have been in that boat if not for the cross-buy feature that lets me play all my DLC tables on the Vita as well.

In other TPA news, it looks like the T2 Kickstarter is going to eek its way to its goal -- it's only $2500 short now with 3 days to go. I wonder if they'll have better luck with The Addams Family table (it's a more popular table apparently). Anyway, I backed T2 because I wanted to see the table, but it's sort of a lost $10 for me as I already have the S2 DLC pass. Maybe I'll use this reward for a PS4 copy of the table.

That's cool, I didn't back it for several reasons. 1. Xbox 360 debacle. 2. PC debacle. 3. T2 isn't that good of a pin. I'll still pick it up though whenever the hell it (and the PC version) is released.

I can't remember where I saw it (Steam forums or perhaps a comment on Kickstarter), but I believe they're shooting for an August release for the PC version.

FWIW : As much as I harp on them, You can't fault Far Sight for the "Xbox 360 debacle". It's not like they haven't tried and tried to get the tables out on the platform. That is strictly a problem with Microsoft and it's not fair to consumers.

No idea what the PC debacle is. They seem to get their tables on time and it just took a while for Steam to accept them off of Greenlight. Not Farsight's fault there.

Their entire delivery system for new content is/was flawed, and that is why there was such a delay in new tables to be released. I agree that that bankruptcy issue seems like it is out of their hands.

As for the PC, well, the fact that they decided to "wait" on Steam and not look into alternatives was pretty ridiculous. They could of released months ago if they used another service, but insisted on wasting time on the Greenlight thing, which in the end, they weren't even approved through it, Valve let them circumvent it (as they should, Greenlight is fucking retarded). Then here it is, almost 4 months later, and they still don't even have a beta build ready, yet alone a finished product.

I did read on PinballArcadeFans.com that they plan on releasing on Steam in August, but I really doubt them at this point, as the original target was for beta to be released in April/May and that hasn't even happened yet.

If there's anyone in or around Central Florida there's a classic gaming and pinball show this weekend: www.gamewarp.org

This is the third year of the show. I went last year and it was simply incredible to get to play a bunch of real machines in tip top shape. I'll post pictures if anyone is interested, but if you're in the area you should really check it out!

Flashburn, you're pretty close, right?
