Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Star Trek TNG was just released on iOS.
|
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
They also released "phase 1" of their interface changes. It looks like a high school project, and you still have to slide left/right to view tables, the only difference is you can see like 4 of them at a time. Hopefully phase 1 is only equal to about 20% complete.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Looks like Pinball Arcade will be releasing Elvira : Scared Stiff along with a really old table -- Big Shot (1973). So that's the first package that didn't include a Williams Pinball Hall of Fame rerun.
I see that both Star Trek TNG and Twilight Zone are already out for iOS, but won't be coming to PSN for another month. I see there's a "Pro Version" of the Star Trek table for a pricey $7.99, but I can't find an explanation anywhere of what the difference is. Can someone explain it to me? edit: I guess it's access to the operator's menu, ball control and other stuff that's standard on the Zen tables. Looks like it'll just be the standard version for me whenever it comes out. |
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
What the fuck is up with the Xbox version of this game? Why haven't they gotten any of these new tables?

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
They apparently have a new publisher now, they are just finalizing the details.
BTW, the next pack will be Attack From Mars and Genie. Genie is the first "super" wide-body to be released on TPA. |
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
I fired up Pinball Arcade on my XBox the other day and there was a new title update on it. After launching a table, the sync was really bad. I'd hit a trigger to use the flippers, and there was a noticeable delay of a second of two that made playing it impossible. The game never had an issue like that when I was playing it before.
I backed the two tables that they kickstarted and chose 360 as my version. I'm hoping that they update the game again, when the new publisher comes online and they push more tables via dlc/updates. |

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Attack From Mars and Genie were just released on iOS. Xbox sure is going to have to play catchup. I wonder if they are just going to release like 20 tables at the same time?
A friend of mine just picked up a beater Attack From Mars that he is in the process of restoring. They normally sell for over $10K in good condition. I've never played one in person, so I'm really looking forward to that once he gets his playfield back. Genie is pretty sweet, it's an old school wide-body, which means it's more like a super wide-body. |
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
For a few minutes Playstation blog had an announcement for Star Wars pinball from Zen for Vita and PS3 announcing 3 tables, Empire Strikes Back, Clone Wars, and Boba Fett tables with 7 more to come this year. I'm pretty sure it said it was coming later this month.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
I'd switch to PS3/Vita for my pinball if they're exclusive. And I don't have a Vita.

No way it's a PS exclusive. Can't wait for this table. I'm sure it'll be awesome. Even if the Civil Wars table sucks. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/OmmSlXV5BMA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

|
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Yeah, I might just pick that up.
I assume it'll be $10 for three tables. A little more than Marvel, but certainly reasonable enough. |
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
I wonder why they pulled all the info yesterday from the PS Blog and yanked the You Tube videos. Seems like a lot of effort if they were going to totally expose everything today.
|
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
There was clearly a noon PST NDA on it. Probably in partnership with Lucasarts. I say "clearly" because all the articles hit simultaneously, including the pre-recorded IGN featurette.
|
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Be interesting to see what they do with the prequels. Does every movie get a table or do they make a prequel trilogy table to free up a couple of spots for something else?
|
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
A single PT table would be enough for me as well, but I don't know if I'd consider it a waste if it was three tables. If they sell well enough, it's not like they're going to prevent other releases. They'll smartly not have a "Prequel Pack", though, that's for certain.
|
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
They would certainly have to make a separate individual table for each episode I presume. Thematically it would be a lot easier than trying to lump them all together on one table and would, in turn, require less reaches for the other tables coming down the pike. Honestly, I'm sort of stunned they were able to put together a Boba Fett table based on his total of, what, ten minutes of screen-time. Besides, lumping the prequels together while releasing Episodes IV, V & VI separately would be a tacit acknowledgement that the prequels were inferior and less important to the canon of Star Wars, and while we all feel that to be the case, I'm sure it's not the image Lucasfilm wants to present.
|
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
They could potentially do a Darth Vader table that would cover a lot of the prequel stuff all together. I don't know a lot about the Boba Fett expanded universe stuff, but the IGN video said some of the Boba Fett stuff was taken from there.
|
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Boba is the EU and Internet darling. I'm not surprised at all he has his own table. In fact, I'd say his table is the stand-out of this package, not ESB.
|
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
A Vader table makes too much sense, but I could also also see them doing separate Sith Lords and Jedi Knights tables.
Only two other "miscellaneous" tables available if they do a table per movie. |
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
I think the interview said not every movie will get a table.
|
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
I can't believe you guys missed today's huge pinball announcement :
Twilight Zone Available for PS3 and PS Vita Today!!!!!! :sarcasm: |
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Yes, Twilight Zone is finally available on PS3, however those of us who kickstarted it still haven't received our codes :( I've waited this long, so a few more days won't kill me, but it's kind of crappy that I essentially pre-ordered this and don't have it before those who didn't kickstart.

Yeah, that does suck, as does the fact that you can get the Operator's version of the table and the special ball for a total of $10 when that was at least a $25 package for Kickstarters. I don't know if I care enough to spend an extra 3 on the Operator's menu feature. Will have to look further. That special ball does look cool for $2 though.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Well, I think getting codes for PSN depends more on Sony/PSN than it does the kickstarters.

I don't think Decker was complaining about paying more by kickstarting, I think he was agreeing that at least we should get the stuff before the general public. Isn't that one of the primary drivers for kickstarting? Support stuff you want and get it before the general public or at all in cases of limited releases.
Secondly : Yeah as an outsider in this, I just think it's not fair that you Kickstarters didn't get a freaking week of exclusivity or, at very least, a chance to get the table you funded on the same day as the rest of us. Pinball Arcade comes out with Scared Stiff next week; it wouldn't have been that hard to flip those releases on PSN so the Kickstarters got theirs first. I know I'd be pissed if Pebbles were available in the store while I was (am) still waiting for mine to ship. |
Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Well, I picked up the Twilight Zone table and special ball today. Unlike most of you I'd never played or even seen the rea-life table before. I've also not been such a fan of Pinball Arcade in the past (despite having bought all their PS3 offerings), their tables sometimes just feel a little "off" to me in a way that Zen usually doesn't. Having said all that : Holy hell, that Twilight Zone table is AWESOME. So cool, so much to do. I need to play it a lot more, but it's really an achievement. It also seems to have benefited from the long lead-time since it feels better made than previous tables. Also was pleasantly surprised when in addition to the TV theme, the table played the 80's song "Twilight Zone". So, so worth $5, it's the one table I'm certain to keep on playing. Not sure the spiral ball was really worth $2, but whatever, it's a cool souvenir. Also saw lots of other alternate balls I could use on the table; not sure if those were always available in the Extras section of the table Menu or whether the $2 buys a whole set of alternate pinballs. Maybe someone else can check for my curiosity?

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread
Meh, I think you can't compare Zen courting Lucasarts to make ten non-existing tables and their very interactive process with Farsight(?) trying to acquire the rights for 30-year old properties that don't have a "causal games division". They have a much different process bringing a real table to the digital space than Zen.
