still? isn't this only like the 2nd month out of about the last 24 it has?
sales dropped quite a bit from last month. people here were saying now that the drop happened, it'd be selling like gangbusters. i don't really see that in the numbers.

Really impressive for Uncharted 2!
As for the PS3... seems to be like what I was saying before a while back. Price cut equals a big boost for that month, and then the sales would trickle back down to earth. I think it will hang steady there because of the Holidays, but I imagine the 360/PS3 sales figures will get even closer in Nov/Dec.

They needed to release the thing to find that out? They could of literally asked anyone and saved themselves the disaster. No UMD, smaller screen and it costs more? Sony can't really be that stupid can they?

you don't say!
i don't seem to recall the PS3 having an exclusive system w/ the game packaged in, though. since all projections are this may be one of the top video games of the year and maybe of the past 5-10 in terms of sales, i think a bundle like that will move a bunch of product.

I'll be really interested in seeing how MW2 is split between consoles in sales. Look at Borderlands put up big numbers for the 360 but doesn't even chart on the PS3. 360 software sales continue to be stellar, although the NBA 2K10 split is pretty close.

Re: October 2009 NPD
Yeah, but to be fair it was only out for 5 days in the month and a $120 game featuring an instrument that most people wouldn't think of playing was a pretty tough sell. I think getting it under $100 might help for the holidays, but definitely a major disappointment.

Percentage changes, month-over-month (from Joystiq: http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/12/oc...are-sales-slo/):
Wii: +10%
DS: -13%
PS3: -35%
360: -29%
PSP: -8%
PS2: -19%
So the Wii was the only hardware to get an increase while the PS3 had the biggest drop. So much for the price drop jump-starting sales.

Re: October 2009 NPD
I have a feeling Nov will see a significant jump in 360 sales with all the Wal-Mart and Amazon $100 gift card deals, the MW2 bundle, and the BF deals (Target's $50 gift card, for example).
I haven't seen any PS3 BF deals yet, but I'm sure there'll be something, somewhere.
Great numbers for Borderlands! How did it do on the PC?

Re: October 2009 NPD
I dunno. I think this is where MS has Sony in a tight spot. They've been making money on systems so long that they can throw out all kinds of deals. Do people really expect a deal on a PS3 when the price just dropped a $100 a month ago?

Re: October 2009 NPD
It sold less than it did last year at a price that's $100 cheaper and less than it did last month. Sure, beating Microsoft is a moral victory for Sony, but at this pace, they can't be happy.

Re: October 2009 NPD
Yes but they didn't really drop the price though, more of a 'restructuring' like you said. The 60GB went away and the 120GB took it's place. Much like Sony did with all their hard drive variations before the Slim.
