Is there a way to do the missions again?
The patch apparently applies any extra experience gained prior to the patching to your character. This means you might jump straight to level 69. |
Re: Borderlands
If you were already level 61, and kept playing, earning experience, the patch would add that experience all at once, possibly making you jump to level 69. If you've only played through once, it's highly unlikely that you are anywhere near the pre-patch level cap.

Re: Borderlands
Yeah, I think you finish playthrough 1 in the mid-30's.

Happy that the patch is live, though! |
Re: Borderlands
yeah, i guess i have a long way to go then. only level 44 after PT 1, Zombie Is, and most of Knoxx.

I've been reading some of the threads in the Steam forums, and it seems many (if not all) of the people who were getting extra XP were PC users that had used a character editor called Willow Tree to edit their game somehow (fix a glitched quest, change the number of inventory slots, etc.). Willow Tree somehow set them to MAX XP and when the level cap increased they jumped up to the max. |

You thought it was a patch to give you XP? :scratch2:

Re: Borderlands
Well I just popped the game in an got the 4mb update.
I wanted to check my characters so I went to their listing of "uncompleted missions". All four of mine are Level 61 yet only one has done the second playthru on Zombie Island. if memory serves me those missions were like Level 46-49. They are now showing Level 62 - Tough Me and another friend DL the Claptrap Rev. and have yet to play it for this simple reason. |
Re: Borderlands
Grabbed the patch and got my achievements back to 100%. Getting all of those claptrap achievements killed my interest in going back to play for awhile, but at some point I will try to level up my character the final few levels I need.

Re: Crawmerax
is there anyway a soldier, level 45, can take on Craw. solo and have a chance? anyone successfully do it at this or similar level? if so, what weapons are good to use against him and his minions? thanks. |

Not sure how they level him since the update, however you have a long way to go before considering tackling him. |
Re: Borderlands
I think Crawermax was 64 back then. He's still +3 to your party's highest character and maxes out at 72.

Re: Borderlands
Well, that was fun while it lasted... I'm happy for the level cap increase, but I did just one of the few remaining missions I still had unfinished from General Knoxx (Circle of Duty), and by the time I finished the last wave, I'd already jumped from level 61 to level 69. (Admittedly, it's a hard, long mission.) I was planning on buying the Claptrap add-on after the cap increase so I could just keep leveling, and now I find no reason to get it, since I'm already maxed again.

thanks for the Craw. help fellas. looks like it is time to pack this one in with the single mission left for another time a long time from now. |
Re: Borderlands
Yeah, without the DLC it takes a good 1/3rd or more of the second playthrough to hit 61.

Sniper rifle (for Craw), shock, fire and acid weapon (for everything else) From the elevator run to the ledge that runs along the left edge of the board until you come to where it meets the rock wall. From there you can shoot everything save for the spot on its back. To hit that, you can do 2 things, 1) dart out and drop your turret as a distraction to make him turn towards it. You'll need to do this several times to finish him off 2) connect a 2nd controller and go at him split screen. Leave the 2nd character down in the cave, only calling it up when you're at the point where you have the target on Craw's back left to shoot. Shoot at him once/drop the turret if it's a soldier, with the 2nd character to get Craw to turn, then open fire at his back with the 1st. Whether you consider that solo is up to you, but it works pretty well. It alleviates the need to dart out from safety. |
Re: Borderlands
yeah that's not likely. unless you are using modded weapons i'd like to see you even kill one of his minions at level 45. i think that for a solo attempt you should at least be level 61 (although i haven't attempted him since the patch so maybe i would put that at 69 now). also i tried the cliff glitch several times and would always get knocked off or spit on even when i was "out of reach". if you want to beat him solo/legit your best bet is to be a siren. it's doable solo with the other characters but probably best attempted after beating him a few times and working out a good strategy.
for me, taking the time to line up sniper/accurate shots on craw's weak spots was what got me killed. i got a super powerful Double Anarchy smg (which is also pretty inaccurate) and just spray it at craw from afar. the spread of the smg hits his weak points all over and the high damage (167x4) takes his health down pretty quickly. i use elemental weapons to deal with the minicraws as needed. |

Is there a way to actually get inside the cliff so you can't be hit (I've seen people write things that elude to that), because for as safe as the ledge is, like you mention, you can be struck while there. The minions can surface on it right next to you, and Craw's poison he spews can take you out in 1 hit there. As for lining up the sniper shots, you only need to target once per target point then fire away when he goes into his repetitive motion while you're standing still. |
Re: Borderlands
The cliff thing works, but it's a pain because it's not just as simple as running over there. At least in my experience it worked like one out of twenty tries.
|
Re: Borderlands
it sounds very well and good, but no way i would be adept enough to pull anything of that caliber off. i put the game to bed and when/if i decide to take it back up, i will do a second playthrough and see where i am after that.
if i do go through second playthrough on main story, that would mean i have to do the entire Secret Armory DLC again on PT 2, correct? i won't be able to just pick up the Craw. mission i have now since it is on PT 1, even if i use same character... |
Re: Borderlands
I know I'm late to this party, but my best friend and I just decided to tackle the General Knoxx DLC (my idiot friend forgot to buy the Zombie Island pack.
Good lord, that's a hell of a lot harder than the main game. On one hand I don't really need money anymore since my current weapons are better than anything I could buy, but on the other I'm getting pissed at getting killed so much. My wealth is rapidly getting sucked dry in respawn charges. BTW : Where can you buy a bigger backpack? I haven't seen that offered in a long, long time. |
Re: Borderlands
The Moxxi add-on includes a storage locker (this should have been part of the main game, IMHO).
