Forza 3
I cant wait for this one to come out(Oct 31st).Demo comes out tomorrow on XBL.
|
Re: Forza 3
Can't wait either. Although I might skip the demo and just hold out for the game to come out. I haven't decided yet.
|
Re: Forza 3
Demo is up.I will give it a spin after work.
|
Re: Forza 3
Screw it, I already know I'm not going to be able to hold out.

Re: Forza 3
Kinda underwhelmed by the demo i hate to say.The racing itself is very similar to Forza 2 which is very good but graphically the game falls a bit short. The scenery to me looks drawn and not realistic like in Dirt 2.Also the cockpit view which was sorely missed in F2 is kinda flat and doesnt give you that feeling of actually being in a car like in other racing games and where's the windshield? Damage is almost non-existent(maybe just for the demo?) Sound is pretty solid, standard racing fare.I dont see how you can customize the controls again maybe just a demo thing.
So maybe im just a bit guilty of the over-hype and also the fact ive been playing a lot of Dirt 2 which is a totally different style of racing game but beats F3 in pretty much every way and which had a demo that made me wanna buy the full game.I will give it some more time but as of now i'm about 50/50 on getting the game as opposed to 100% for sure buy pre-demo. |
Re: Forza 3
Anyone pick this up yet? I'm getting it after work. Can't freakin wait!
|
Re: Forza 3
2 more hours until I'll be home and playing (or installing). I can't wait. I hope to be racing in my own car (in the game, duh) before tonight, vroom!

Re: Forza 3
Just a heads up for anyone low on hard drive space. This game has a 1.9 GB mandatory install on disc 2 that gives you access to the rest of the cars and tracks on the game. For now, I don’t see a way around it.
|
Re: Forza 3
It isn't a mandatory install at all. It's optional, and you can even pick and choose what you want to install from the disc if you need to.
edit: Just to be clear, if you want to use the cars and tracks that are on that second disc, you do need to do the install, but it is still optional. |
Re: Forza 3
That's pretty much what I meant. If you don't do the install, it seems like your missing out on half the game.
|
Re: Forza 3
I picked it up today and although i really think its just Forza 2.5 im still happy with it so far.Racing games are always tops on my list.
For those like me that use the cockpit view and find it a bit too far forward you can adjust it: Go into options and onto multiscreen set up and use these options: multiscreen on mode host channel 0 will do view center degrees hidden 0 or just play around with it degrees between screens 62 or whatever you want(i'm using 75) Heres an example of someone with the adjustment: Wont take affect till you restart your 360. |
Re: Forza 3
I don't understand why you would have to install extra cars and tracks. I thought this game had some sort of a download code like Gears 2 to discourage second hand purchases. What good does a second disc do? Is it a limited time or first-run-only thing?

Thanks for the tip. My only problem with the default cockpit view is that you can't always see the rear view mirror in some cars.
Only thing that sucks with using Multiscreen is that you can't seem to look around in your car anymore. You can only look at set angles. Not a huge loss, but its still less than ideal. |
Re: Forza 3
Any further opinions on this?
I am on the fence right now. I played a ton of Forza2, but this one doesn't sound leaps and bounds different. I don't plan on going online, or buying a wheel, just a casual gamer. The last one kind of annoyed me when the auction house got out of control. All I wanted was a damn Camaro! I am not sure I want to keep repeating races to build up cash again. However, I think there is more tracks, correct? Or are they variations of the same track? |
Re: Forza 3
Yeah its worth it, I picked it up after getting the Xbox wheel. I been playing alot of Froza 2 before and its visually much much better. I always found Forza 2 to be kind of weak visually and this is nicer especially the tracks.
I really like the new tracks, more curves and Cars feel better driving I noticed with the wheel. |
Re: Forza 3
At first i was kinda disappointed with Forza 3 but now that ive found the best way to do a single player race is to go into multiplayer race and make it private im a lot happier. You can customize the race a lot better that way and even have different classes racing plus you can invite friends or fill the field with AI cars.I find that much better than "free race" mode which is very limited and the career thing always seems to dragged out to me.

Re: Forza 3
^ Do you need gold membership for this?
I started a career and raced for maybe 3 "weeks" so far. I read someplace that it is better to race stock vehicles for the first "year" or so, just driving the reward cars. What is the purpose of this? Is it just to have more money to buy the really expensive cars? So far, I have spend a majority of my cash on upgrading. |

Re: Forza 3
The graphics have improved a lot. I've only raced a couple weeks so most of the tracks have been repeats. My only complaint so far is the AI cars still try and drive right through you to race their line as if you weren't there. The rewind feature is really handy when you just passed a car and the computer tries to PIT maneuver you.

Free Hyundai Car Pack download for Gold members.

Re: Forza 3
I must say, this is a very nice racer. I wasn't even going to get it, but the reviiews were good and the deals so good, I couldn't pass it up. Of course, I bought it right after launch, but just tried it this morning. It really runs smooth and looks great. I can see it being very addictive. That rewind feature is awesome. I can see myself cheating like crazy with it. :)

Re: Forza 3
After a few more races the AI isn't all that bad. It is just when you have a car way faster than the others the AI doesn't seem to register a pass. If you pass slower due to brakes that are about equal, the other cars will adjust their line.

Re: Forza 3
Glad to see this come back up since every time i start a racing game thread it kinda plummets off the board.
I'm loving the game and its even taken me away from my now 2nd favorite racing game of the year Dirt 2.Up to level 37 which got me the 2007 Corvette C6.R.Nothing sounds better than the roar of it's beastly engine and its hella fun to drive :D Can't wait for some more car packs and even more so some more tracks. |
Re: Forza 3
Forza 3 patch is out.Fixed a few things but most important added driver shifting animation

Re: Forza 3
MOTHERFKKER!!!! I just picked up Forza 2 for $19.99 at Wallyworld toady. It's the version that comes with a bonus disc that includes 43 cars and two additional tracks. Anyway, I powered up the XBOX 360, popped in the bonus disc hit "load all," when it completed the load, I hit eject, popped in the game disc, went to split screen mode... then whammo... RED FREAKING RING OF DEATH!!
WTF!?! I bought my 360 machine (60G HDD) new in May of 2008 never had a problem until I loaded this piece of shit game onto the hard drive... anybody else experience this bullshit with Forza 2? I called Microshit to begin the return procedure, anybody have any tips? They said to only send in the 360 minus the hard drive, no cords, no power strip. WTF do I do about the content I loaded onto the hard drive for Forza 2? I'm really afraid to play this game now... how do I go about getting a refund for this game from Walmart... do they even take returns for open games? I am so pissed right now, words cannot describe. Sorry to sidetrack this thread, but a search didn't bring anything up for me. Any help would be much appreciated. |
Re: Forza 3
i'm sorry, but it's highly unlikely that forza caused your game to get the RROD. It just happens to all 360s. Mine happened while playing Geometry Wars 2 and I was afraid to play that too. It wasn't the game, it's the terrible hardware.
|
Re: Forza 3
Yep. It's not the game.

Should I get back on the phone with customer service and insist that they replace my system with an "Elite" version, or will they just laugh and tell me to go pound sand? You need to take in to consideration I'm a DVDTalker (high expectations yet, little/no return is typical) with that last statement. ;) Because of the release of Forza 3 (and this thread) I went out and purchased Forza 2 just to get used to the game/see if I liked it for a cheaper price. I was pretty excited up until the RROD happened. |

That's a relief... I guess. :(
So, is it reasonable to expect that when I eventually get my 360 back that this won't occur again with Forza 2? I'm not a hardcore gamer (so I haven't followed the RROD thing lately) but is it safe to say that by now Microsoft has eliminated the RROD problem with repaired machines? They send out refurbished units to replace yours and I highly doubt you can request they send you a brand new one. Up until yesterday my 360 worked flawlessly (at least I thought it did anyway). edit: Also, the refurb they send out, does it look new? No scratches, etc. Cause my machine is flawless, looks like you just pulled it out of the box (read: I took very good care of it). |
Re: Forza 3
My 360 typically starts freezing up before it red rings.
I thought my refurb looked fine, but I may not be as picky. In my experience they just kick the can down the road on the RROD. I've red ringed three times now, you'd think that they would have fixed the issue on the refurbs they send out, but in my experience that isn't the case. |
Re: Forza 3
When my 2nd 360 got the RROD (the first was swapped at the store) I requested they send my own unit back, and they did. I has been working fin, with Forza 2 & 3, so far.
I am kinda hoping it dies again, so I can buy a HDMI unit with a larger HDD. |

It wasn't dirty or scratched, but it didn't look like I just took the protective film off it either. I guess if you are SUPER anal and picky you can tell it's a refurb. |

Re: Forza 3
You still have to buy the cars with in-game currency, right? I imagine they're pricey as well. There are so many cars in this game I can't even imagine wanting more for a long, long time.

Re: Forza 3
Sorry to bump an old thread, but I am wondering if I should grab the Forza 2 platinum hits instead of Forza 3? Forza 3 is only $10 more but there is the chance they could do the same thing for Forza 3 where the platinum version includes all the DLC.
I just wasn't sure for someone who hasn't played either which way to go. I am finally in HD so I am itching to play some 360. |
