Re: Forza 3
Glad to see this come back up since every time i start a racing game thread it kinda plummets off the board.
I'm loving the game and its even taken me away from my now 2nd favorite racing game of the year Dirt 2.Up to level 37 which got me the 2007 Corvette C6.R.Nothing sounds better than the roar of it's beastly engine and its hella fun to drive
Can't wait for some more car packs and even more so some more tracks.

MOTHERFKKER!!!! I just picked up Forza 2 for $19.99 at Wallyworld toady. It's the version that comes with a bonus disc that includes 43 cars and two additional tracks. Anyway, I powered up the XBOX 360, popped in the bonus disc hit "load all," when it completed the load, I hit eject, popped in the game disc, went to split screen mode... then whammo... RED FREAKING RING OF DEATH!!
WTF!?! I bought my 360 machine (60G HDD) new in May of 2008 never had a problem until I loaded this piece of shit game onto the hard drive... anybody else experience this bullshit with Forza 2?
I called Microshit to begin the return procedure, anybody have any tips? They said to only send in the 360 minus the hard drive, no cords, no power strip.
WTF do I do about the content I loaded onto the hard drive for Forza 2? I'm really afraid to play this game now... how do I go about getting a refund for this game from Walmart... do they even take returns for open games?
I am so pissed right now, words cannot describe. Sorry to sidetrack this thread, but a search didn't bring anything up for me. Any help would be much appreciated.

i'm sorry, but it's highly unlikely that forza caused your game to get the RROD. It just happens to all 360s. Mine happened while playing Geometry Wars 2 and I was afraid to play that too. It wasn't the game, it's the terrible hardware.

Because of the release of Forza 3 (and this thread) I went out and purchased Forza 2 just to get used to the game/see if I liked it for a cheaper price. I was pretty excited up until the RROD happened.

Re: Forza 3
That's a relief... I guess.
So, is it reasonable to expect that when I eventually get my 360 back that this won't occur again with Forza 2? I'm not a hardcore gamer (so I haven't followed the RROD thing lately) but is it safe to say that by now Microsoft has eliminated the RROD problem with repaired machines?

They send out refurbished units to replace yours and I highly doubt you can request they send you a brand new one.

Re: Forza 3
Up until yesterday my 360 worked flawlessly (at least I thought it did anyway).
edit: Also, the refurb they send out, does it look new? No scratches, etc. Cause my machine is flawless, looks like you just pulled it out of the box (read: I took very good care of it).

Re: Forza 3
My 360 typically starts freezing up before it red rings.
I thought my refurb looked fine, but I may not be as picky.
In my experience they just kick the can down the road on the RROD. I've red ringed three times now, you'd think that they would have fixed the issue on the refurbs they send out, but in my experience that isn't the case.

Re: Forza 3
When my 2nd 360 got the RROD (the first was swapped at the store) I requested they send my own unit back, and they did. I has been working fin, with Forza 2 & 3, so far.
I am kinda hoping it dies again, so I can buy a HDMI unit with a larger HDD.

How do you know it's going to do it again... are there signs I should be paying attention to?

The unit they sent me looked fine. It wasn't dirty or scratched, but it didn't look like I just took the protective film off it either. I guess if you are SUPER anal and picky you can tell it's a refurb.

You still have to buy the cars with in-game currency, right? I imagine they're pricey as well. There are so many cars in this game I can't even imagine wanting more for a long, long time.

Re: Forza 3
Sorry to bump an old thread, but I am wondering if I should grab the Forza 2 platinum hits instead of Forza 3? Forza 3 is only $10 more but there is the chance they could do the same thing for Forza 3 where the platinum version includes all the DLC.
I just wasn't sure for someone who hasn't played either which way to go. I am finally in HD so I am itching to play some 360.
