Dirt 2

Has anyone picked this up? I really liked the graphics and control of the first one, but if I remember right, the career mode on that involved 80-90% time trials instead of actual races. That got dull pretty quickly. Just wondered if this one had a better balance.

Re: Dirt 2

This ones quite a bit different from the 1st Dirt.Certainly light on the typical rally racing and a lot more with the X-Games style with more head to head racing.Even the rally style races have multiple cars on track with a staggered start.Another cool thing is every race mode can also be played in multiplayer.Game looks damn good too and the framerate issues from the 1st one are gone(least i havent encountered any so far).

Love it

Re: Dirt 2

I really couldn't get into it. Didn't like the controls much, hated the long 'unlocking' process in between races etc. The graphics are nice but this game made me realize if it's not Mario or Burnout, it's not for me (played Dirt 2 for about an hour and returned it). I also hate the lack of local multiplayer - which made the decision to not keep it pretty easy.

I am in the same camp. I liked this...but if it isn't Burnout or Mario Kart, I just struggle with any other racers and would just go back to those two (Revenge, not Paradise).

Re: Dirt 2

Pardon the bump from the dead, but I was wanting to get this since I've decided to get a racing wheel for the PS3 and this seems to be one of the best games for it.

What is with the PS3 version being so hard to find? I've checked every online retailer I know and none of them have it in stock. Most don't even seem to carry it, except for Best Buy (where it's out of stock online and at every nearby store). On the other hand, the 360, Wii, and PC versions are easy to find and are going for $14.99 or even less. I know there's always eBay, but I hate to pay $30 for a used game that could be half that price new.

Did they have to pull it for some reason? Or did they just produce too many copies of the other versions and not enough of the PS3 version?

Re: Dirt 2

Drexl, don't know where in STL your located, but the Blockbuster in Ellisville had a used copy of Dirt 2 for PS3 for $10 last time I was there. And I think they still have the buy 1 get 1 free deal going on.
